Arcade Stick Wire Management Solutions

I can make it better.
That was my first time using Wire Sleeves.

I did try the latter but it still wouldn’t take it. Looks like I need to pick up some flux then, thanks.

Especially planning. If you plan in advance, you can drink all the beer you want.

well he only used 1 1/8 piece of tubing for every single wire
which makes it look like a sleeved rats nest
the point of the flex imo is to bunch up wires to make it look more organized and less wire clutter

My big advice for those who are new, do not be intimidated with the excellent wiring jobs J&J SoCal modding do. Rather take there work as an example how it is done and how it is done right. That there work is the text book example, that this is where the bar is set. Make there examples what you should aim for, but do not feel bad when your own work look… differently.

Who knows, maybe you can raise the standards and give J&J SoCal modding someone to compete with.

Where is the best place online to buy smaller quantities of Techflex?

Okay, so question about disconnects:

Is there any way to get those covers off to get to the bare disconnects?

Why not buy non-insulated ones?

  1. Can’t find them, even at the local store
  2. I already have these.

local stores is your best bet at small quants,
not sure where you can go online for smaller quants
try ebay?

Two needle nose pliers is what I have used.

I can’t seem to get them off without destroying them >.<

try just heating them up and then using the pliers to pull them out

OMG, freakin’ genius. Thank you so much.

After reading all of this thread, this is something that I definitely want to strive for. This concept of Super Wiring or Super Modding is still new to me. I’ve seen some of those terms being thrown around in various thread here on SRK.

One question stands out though: I went to Techflex’s website, but it’s very overwhelming in terms of which product you all are using. Can you point us in the right direction? I use zip ties currently, but I’d love to ā€˜level up’.

is this a show off or a help thread lol. if it’s a show off thread please show me where to get help with wires lol.

If it is a help thread, or a mix then…

Help?

Spoiler

I’m really not sure how to make this look better. I really tried man lol.

haha if it works dont worry about it… this is more just for presentation… at least thats why I do what I do… JDM714 takes great pictures… what you should be getting out of it is that there is always another way if you want to apply yourself… I wire the way I do because I like presentation… a little planning helps a lot when placing your pcb’s into the case… not only does it look better but you have less risk of random shorts due to movement and strange situations because something came loose due to doing a mod ā€œsolder-lessā€

I didn’t know it would fit UNDER the original board lol. I knew there was a lot of space… man its so obvious… I second this:

Because that pretty much sums it up man lol. Man and it’s so obvious… I know i wont’ be able to get it like that in one go… I’d need a new VX-SA PCB to do it right due to my cutting some of the wires of the original PCB to try to make the paewang work. I mean it worked, just not 100% as intended. Toodles really went all out for the ChimpSMD, and it really works great. I will save these photos and try to do something similar on my next build which should be in a few weeks (takes time to get some of these parts… man i wish they sold them at regular stores!)

lol y u no use screw terminals?
