Out of curiosity, how do most people use their arcade stick? On your lap or on the tabletop? I find that my right hand (buttons) prefers tabletop as it lines up better to the 3x3 layout, but my left hand (joystick) prefers the lap, as I seem to hit forward, down-forward and up-forward w/ much more precision.
Does anyone else have this issue or am I crazy (or both)?
i actually, place my stick on the original box it came in, which is on the floor. I have no table tops that are high or low enough to find that perfect height.
I have the exact same problem. Funny thing is, I decided the other day that I was going to start playing exclusively on tabletop and force my wrist muscles to learn… but now the feet on the HRAP2SA are worn from lap use so it slides all over the place on the table.
If you attach a strap onto that sucker, you can just leave it hanging from your neck like one of them hotdog/nacho/drink vendors. Nothin’ like a suspended stick.
Tables and benches change, but the circumference of my legs have stayed pretty much the same. If I try to play on a table I really notice the difference, even if it’s just a couple inches.
On my lap. I tried it on the table a few times but, like the OP, I have a hard time hitting directions there. Actually, I didn’t know why exactly it felt uncomfortable to me until I read this.
Love this! I searched for a pic I saw a while back of the “ultimate portable computer” that was a dude with a desktop and power generator strapped to his back, and CRT monitor on the front like you describe here for the stick… no luck finding it, but that’s what it reminded me of.
