Arcade stick for caves games

what is the arcade stick with more precision to play cave games?

I can not play with my sanwa JLF to this games is imposible to long throw and the movement aren´t precisous

You could get a extra large actuator for a smaller throw - I believe Seimitsu sticks are better suited for SHMUPS but I could be mistaken. It’s been a while, and I end up playing SHMUPS on pad.

EDIT:

Seimetsu LS-40 is a good stock stick for this.

I would suggest Seimitsu LS-32, it’s a “classic” stick, many are quick to point out the “issues” with it, but it really comes down to trying it out first. LS-40 and LS-56 are good candidates because of the short throw.

my main shmup stick is a Suzo 500 modded with @PinoyPryde 's custom japanese style shaft. most accurate & precise lever for shmups ive used. too precise that if “I myself” is sloppy, it heavily shows. (overdodging, moving too much)

but i still get 1CC’s (or get far) from time to time on DFK and Mushihimesama using a Sanwa JLF when i’m at Round1 or at a friend’s place. so idk. the lever is one thing, getting familiar with the game is another. shmups take a bit of planning, being familiar with patterns/setpieces will help you more in the long run, regardless of stick.

LS-40 is nice, though I personally use a JLW. Similar throw to the LS-40 and it feels much smoother. Much higher tension than the JLF though.

I use a suzo 500 sixaxis stick for shmups, it is proper tight, I like the feel when dodging bullets

Although I’m no expert player on shmups, me and my Mrs in coop mode 15 cc’d caladrius blaze last week!

I only used 5 or 6

My suzo 500 has the stock white switches, iirc they are e switches, I would like to swap them out for cherry switches but the clip is a nightmare to take off and put on, the jlf clip I can take off no probz, but this is a different animal.

Generally I would vouch for the LS-32 or LS-56 especially the latter with extra short throw and no throw mods. Since they are japanese sticks they will fit in nearly all of the current model of sticks in production. My only qualm is with the LS-56 is very loose in neutral, and wiggles around the deadzone, but you won’t really notice that too much.

If there is enough room I would recommend the Suzo 500 since it’s really snappy, short throw, and super precise.
(+1 for suzo hype train let’s go)

But since it’s really easy to find and install seimitsu sticks, I would say go for an LS-56 and, if you’d like, buy an aftermarket mod to shorten the throw even more.

I’m new to shmups and the stock JLF is my favorite stick, but the JLF does have an incredibly large throw. Where is the place to go to get a Suzo 500 and @PinoyPryde’s shaft mod? Can someone link me a thread discussing this joystick as well? I’m curious about the different types of micro-switches that are best to use and different tension springs.

Definitely start with a LS-32/40, it has a better response imo. I got a Myogushin Fanta stick for Christmas and I think its the best thing feels-wise, now I just need a case for it lol

I would have thought a Myoungshin Fanta would be terrible for shmups. I plan on getting one soon and fitting it into my TE soon so i’ll have the chance to try it out.

I think the suzo 500 is discontinued

I believe it’s being sold under the name Omni Stik Basic at groovy game gear.

Also while I do love the Suzo 500, I definitely would recommend giving the seimitsu joysticks a whirl first. I feel like you’d be getting two opposite ends of the spectrum if you go from a JLF to the Suzo, so give the LS-32 or 56 a shot first. If you do end up wanting more tension and the shorter throw that the Suzo provides, then hmu and I can get you a custom shaft and help you get the stick as well.

It is, everything left is ether used or the rarer NOS (New Old Stock) basically items sold as new as it never used but its been sitting in a where house forever

My recommendation for joysticks is ether the LS-32, LS-40, or the JLW.
The Sanwa JLF is the worst for shmups, and the LS-56 and up are good but some find the control a little too tight.

LS-32, LS-40, and the JLW are good all around sticks, tight enough for most shmups but still usable in fighters.

That not the Suzo 500, its a bad clone of the Suzo.

Ah, that’s good to know. Was planning on getting one, but i think i’ll hold off until I find a suzo then.

The Suzo 500 would make a great project for me. I wish I could put in some Matsushita or Omron switches. It sucks that I can find one for purchase. I did also find out about a Suzo 500 with a small Korean style rubber tension grommet instead of a spring. Does anybody have any knowledge or experience using it with shmups? http://www.emphatic.se/?p=982

When I have more time i want to made it arcade stick wood with a great stick Eurojoystick or Magnetic Stick from Industrias Lorenzo, I heard that this stick are better now that Suzo without chinese parts.

I like the 56. If you want less tension, you can just throw a 58 spring in (or vice versa, if you happened to buy a 58 to begin with).

I plan to have a joystick for 2D fighters, 3D fighters and shmups. I already own a JLF for street fighter, soon to buy a Myoungshin and if possible the Suzo 500 with a couple mods, but does anybody no where to find a Suzo 500?

360 Cave, stock lS 56 all day for me
