Hopefully everyone does. I had a feeling that it was going to come to STFU or no SF2.
I’m out if this happens.

yeah now we have an arcade perfect port inside HDR. I dont see what the big deal is in using that version instead of just dropping the best fighter around. Sf4 will die in a few years. Watch. Its a huge turtle fest and people hated cvs2 for that reason. I think cvs2 only lasted so long because of the team/groove variety but SF4 doesnt have that. ST is the only game thats stood the test of time.
I 'd like to comment here. This isn’t anything particularly against megaman, but a mentality he and more than likely few othersare exhiting. (NOT FLAMING)
Isn’t “I’m out” if there is change mentality, exactly what you have been fighting against? I love ya :lovin:, but isn’t that a little unfair? Many pros share the “I’m out” mentality on HDR. They just rather not play it. But, the status quo has chosen to except HDR as the completive version of the game in the USA. And, henceforth it is what will be played.
Currently, HDR is what the status quo wants to play, and that is why it is played. If for some reason the popular opinion shifts the other way, classic mode would be played. Yet, if that were to happen you would just instantly say “I’m out.” That is just as closed mind as the points of view you have been arguing against.
The pro’s that have exhibited the “rather not play it” mentality about HDR have been bashed hard in these forums. Everybody says… get use to it, it is just the way it is now. grow… adapt… things change, don’t be closed minded. However, if there is push to switch back to classic mode by the majority at some future date from HDR, suddenly its OK to be closed minded?
One (not specifically megaman) shouldn’t argue a position of change, only to exhibit a opinion against change when it opposes their preferences. I am at the point now that I’ll play whatever version is put in front of me. I just want the damn thing at EVO. This issue needs to die for a while. It is not going ANYWHERE for a long long time. Lets see how it goes at EVO, and then work from there.
For the record. I want to continue to play SF2. I prefer ST to HDR. However, if it is really HDR or none with EVO. (Which is all that really needs to be said by the the EVO staff.) Then place my tick mark in the ‘HDR’ column.
I don’t like SF4, and enjoy HDR. (I will always prefer ST). But most of all, I love all the SF community that comes with both games. There is substantial overlap in the communities for both games (at least in the US), and the EVO/tourney scene is the glue that holds it together. And to be totally honest, I’d rather some community at EVO than no community at all.
-fatboy :china:
3rd Strike is nothing but rush down. Look how long that game lasted.
Damnit fatboy, why did you have to come at me with sense, reason, and logic? :lovin:
You are absolutely right. I slipped, and you called me on it. That’s completely the wrong attitude.
I guess I’m just sick of all the complaining.
BTW - If they change to VST, I’m coming at you with Vega’s wall dive Tokido style.
That’s ok. You’ll have to escape my noogie trap first! Truth be told, I am more afraid of your Honda combos… :xeye:
The game is still going am I wrong? I hate third strike bad but i’m pretty sure its still going strong.
Re: Fatboy
You pretty well summed up exactly how I feel. I love ST. I like HDR a little less, but it’s still damn good. If it’s HDR or nothin’, then I’m all for HDR. If a year or two down the line, they say “we’re gonna go with classic mode from now on,” I’ll be happy for it. If not, I won’t be terribly disappointed. Hey, I can still play ST on GGPO anyway.
Isn’t classic mode just the dreamcast version?
And why did they put the original sprites in but couldn’t stick the backgrounds in?
^ This.
The age of the game is irrelevant. The quality of the game is everything. Tetris, baseball, chess…these games are all older than ST, and I don’t see them dying out.
If they switched back to ST, would you still use dictator?
I think you missed my point.
In fact, the age of the game works to its benefit. We know it is good, or at least, have more evidence to support the probable conclusion that it is good.
Really?
Oh, wow. Sirlin really did kill ST with this game. Sad. :xeye:
um… really?
The King is dead. Long live the King.:dp::p:
Wow dude. What a horrible thing to say. :lame:
It’s the fact that this community can’t agree upon which version to play. Newcomers to the scene want to play HDR, and the old crowd is resistant to change. If I had been playing the game for years and years, it would probably take me time to come around too. In my opinion that’s the problem.
I probably did. Hah. Elaborate?
I don’t mean to attack him personally (though I didn’t do a good job of hiding my disdain), but the statement is true. Super Turbo as we know it is dead. It is a horrible thing to say - because it’s true. ST won’t be at evo anymore because a new version has come out. And if this version doesn’t stick, we will not revert to the old game. If that doesn’t mean dead, I don’t know what does.
You’re way off the mark here.
The problem with the SPD change for Hawk is that the game has been out for 15 years, every Hawk player can do an SPD. The whole “you have to SPD within 3 frame of hitting up or you jump” is also BS, you can SPD from blockstun, hitstun, a jumpin or any landed/blocked attack and finish in down, and you can do a walk-up SPD by pressing punch while still on the ground and negative-edging it. Meaning that if you mess up the timing instead of jumping you get a grounded punch.
I’m by no means highly dextrous and I was ticking into 720s off of jabs and shorts just fine in ST. I flub uppercuts a lot more often than I flub SPDs.
So the change to the SPD motion does not really help someone like me. And by “someone like me” I mean “anyone who played T. Hawk previously” because if you couldn’t SPD you didn’t play Hawk, period.
Now, because the SPD is “better”, it’s been weakened by giving it a whiff animation. So for actual T. Hawk players the change to his SPD is almost wholly negative and he was already a bottom-tier character.
Making the motion easier is a great change in that it makes him easier to pick up and play without altering him at high (or even medium) levels very much. But using that change as an excuse to nerf his defining move is weak.
