was just thinking about different options available with the FADC. as well as giving cr.lk and cr.lp more frame advantage of SK FADC does it also not mean cr.mk can now be linked from a FADC? I could well be wrong but checking the frame data it makes it a 1 frame link. Would it be possible to BnB->FADC->cr.mk->HP PC? Not sure if there would be enough charge time for the PC but would be interested to find out as I’d imagine it would do a bit more damage than BnB->FADC->BnB due to damage scaling.
cr.mk doesn’t lead to anything because you won’t have charge.
All it does is make it more practical to combo into cr.lp/st.lk/cr.lk.
Any chance that its his forward dash thats been buffed and not just more hit stun on first hit of SK.
If that was the case we would be at 0 after level 1 focus attack dash forward on block and hit as opposed to -1 we currently are at.
They didn’t adjust his dash. It says hit stun.
The blog says they want to keep Dictator more or less the same, so don’t expect anything big.
edit: CH scissor kick FADC can be plinked into close fierce now. not anything that special either
This was all I thought about when I read these changes. Unbelievably, his worst matchups are actually getting worse. I was especially disappointed they took away counter hit on Guile’s booms - that was actually useful in close quarters because st.mk got a bit more damage off of a trade. Honda jab headbutt invincibility hurts more, but I was used to dealing with tank hondas in Super. Guess that little offense we had before he gets 1 meter is gone now, too. Extremely disappointed so far.
Those bad match ups aren’t going away.
But Bison subtlely now has a slight advantage/buff against low stun characters since even LK Knee Press is going to have 100+50 stun.
I’d much rather have his bad matchups remain in their AE versions than have a “subtle buff” coupled with a greater weakening in dictator’s bad matchups. Unfortunately, of all things to happen, I really didn’t expect this.
I’m glad Guile and Honda were buffed, even if that makes those matches harder for Bison. More legit good characters=more fun and interesting game. In my opinion. Just learn another character if you really don’t want to deal with those matchups.
On the subject of Bison’s changes, I’m kind of bummed that st.roundhouse wasn’t buffed in some way. I was really hoping we’d get a damage buff for that normal. Oh well, these changes aren’t final anyway. We’ll see what happens.
They could lower twin’s stun to 900 and make me a happy camper.
So no major change with bison in v2012? I was hoping for QCF U2 back, but I guess that’s too much to ask.
It depends on what you mean by “legit.” I am thinking of tournaments and balance, not just in terms of buffs for a character considered in isolation. No one wants Counterpick Fighter 4, where characters actually have hard counters. Luckily, there are only a few left in the game, and hopefully fewer still after this patch is finalized.
agreed, whilst the match ups are harder it would be pretty shit to see counter picking become more regular. Whilst I do think a couple of more buffs are needed to aid bison in these match ups it’s always good to get the occasional difficult challenge. there’s no better feeling than when you’ve just taken down a skilled honda or guile. As it’s already been stated this isn’t the final list of changes and hopefully we will get a nice long list of changes though I’ll take the Dan and Hakan style list of changes not the yun/yang style list of changes. I’m hoping for a hurricane kick to get over guiles booms and a guy style elbow drop for honda.
Bison is fine, sure new stuff would be great but it’s not like he gets raped hard by too many characters.
We’ll see how the new changes pan out and mess up match ups.
Off the top of my head, I think this list will get a little harder for Bison in general and will require some good decisions to make it out alive:
Balrog - Got back some of his damage from older iterations
Dee Jay - Good improvements overall
Chun Li - 150 stun c.HK returns, expect more frame traps into c.HK spam and just overall nuisance
Dhalsim - Bit more combo and even more anti air options
Dudley - extra cross up, style points with rose taunt, U1 connecting against jumpers
Evil Ryu - dragged more in line between Akuma and Ryu, more health/stun and moves improved
Oni - LK Slash buff might tag our lows a lot more often
Ryu - U2 buffs can be a lot of damage

Gouken
The bad got worse:
Guile - more offense oriented buffs, CH frames gone
E.Honda - Don’t need to say more, LP headbutt is enough.
Zangief - LP SPD and green hand
Take Ryu out of that, no one uses U2 with him and that buff isn’t likely to be enough to make them go with it.
In a footsie battle? c.MK xx EX-Hadou FADC Ultra is more damage than DP FADC Ultra 1.
Nobody uses it now because it’s hard to connect full damage.
And better anti air hit box can possibly force full animation if it’s a corner thing. We’ll just have to see. For now, this looks more like… Ryu can pick either Ultras against Bison and still have a good clean punish with the meter.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t there far more setups for U1 than there is for U2?
U2 setups require 3 bars or a pure guess. It also deeply lessens the threat of reversal or frame trap dp fadc. I don’t see Ryu switching to U2.
A lot of the cast will be harder. That was kinda the point of the patch. I think Cody’s going to be especially tough, because faster walk speed plays well with his CH setups and his good normals. The rest of his buffs are just gravy.
