looks really good! keep up the awesome work!
Yeah, I’m totally afraid of what my case is going to look like without some serious zip-tie-fu in there.
Nice work !!! Some videos with it in action now !!!
Yup video demo will come as soon as we work out the masterstirke firmware =)
I also plan some video tutorials to help make things easier to understand =D
For new arc-eye orders, i’ve decided to no longer offer soldering service. It takes way too much of my time. Sorry!!
Video of another led effect done with the arc-eye boards. I used a1000uF capacitor on each button to cause a fade out effect after each button press or after the rumble goes off.
Brilliant wiring !
Very nice!!
Good stuff
Maybe I’ll try that, too. Can’t wait for my ArcEyes and Master Strike :looney:
Nice video gumm
I’m still signed up for this, right? (at least the v2 or remix that works with a wireless setup)? So much of the programming talk went completely over my head that I had to let the thread go for a while!
Just in time too, since the primo case should be done in a week or two…
MSRemix may or may not be made… depends on demand of V1… lol…
the firmware is almost ready!
Lots of stock ready for you soon… V1 works with wireless which is what i have installed in my gouken stick now…
Good stuff. I’ll wait for the tutorial and video. I should paypal you sometime this week.
Progress on Build - Part 1
So this is my second build using the ArcEyes and first one using the MasterStrike… …and i owe PurpleArms a couple of posts
First off. Big applause, thanks, grats to PurpleArms, Benaco and Gummowned for their contributions. And PurpleArms for working in the office around the corner
The Project!
- 1x Madcatz Fightstick SE case
- 8x Seimitsu PS-14-KN Clear
- 10x ArcEyes (2 of which are common Anode/Power… …more on these later)
- 1x MasterStrike
- 1x Joytron Paewang Revolution PCB for PS3 and X360
- 1x MadCatz SE Turbo/Guide PCB (more on this later)
- 1x Custom PCB w/ ATMEGA328 & 2x 74HC595 8bit-Shift Registers (much much more on this later)
The Plan
- Wire everything up
- Write the code
- Play nice
- 2x ATMEGA??? ATMEGA88 on MasterStrike, ATMEGA328 for… …more creativity
The Pics of teh build… …so far
this is what i got done in one night of build… …and many more of planning
- The bare case (yes i left the sanwas in there from another prototype)
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4010/4545171081_6d5ef460aa.jpg
- Joytron Paewang Revolution PCB for PS3 and X360 with headers for quick disconnect (Turbo/Guide/Start/Back yet to be wired)

- Paewong, USB, Joystick Harness and Madcatz PCB fitting and position

- Joystick harness adn MadCatz PCB (notice the pin header on VCC)

- ArcEyes all built up (minus wire)

6.MasterStrike with ArcEyes in background (MS not wired up yet)

- ArcyEye with pin header fitting? WTF is he doing? (its a successful fit)

- The Mystery MasterStrike addon PCB (ATMEGA328 with Arduino bootloader and reset)

- Smaller version of the above… …for no other reason other than smaller

well. that’s it for now. hopefully more after the weekend.
Progress on Build - Part 2
So… …with having previous experience of installing PurpleArms ArcEyes into the Seimitsu PS-14-KN. i knew what i wanted to improve from my last install.
Previuosly i used 30AWG wire to solder connections to the ArcEyes. This time with the project being a little more copmlex. I needed to implement quick disconnects on the buttons… …but how? Run wire then solder QDs? NO
The answer was Rounded Swiss Machine Headers… …observe
- make a ‘template’
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3301/4554768108_70c5892a8a.jpg
- add your header pins
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2490/4554137167_75e8700c10.jpg
- place ArcEye on pin headers, flux and solder the pins
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3188/4554140275_1783de572a.jpg
- finished ArcEyes with pin headers
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3102/4554803428_574b6aa7d9.jpg
- another view
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3620/4554805344_c3691c104d.jpg
- NOW… …the button and switch!!!
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/4554807000_6e59d26b54.jpg
- introduce both to a dremmel! (this is to fit the headers)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3128/4554178259_7128964459.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3368/4554818740_5355fee868.jpg
- switch and ArcEye assembled (the new ArcEyes are a little tighter than before… …use a pencil eraser to push)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3659/4554820120_33ddcf016e.jpg
- button casing, switch and ArcEye together again!!!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3619/4554195485_6b52504f1a.jpg
- test fit of headers that will go onto the custom wiring harness…

- money shot

more updates soon!
Progress on Build - Part 3a
I am calling this Part 3a since it is mostly centered around harnesses and connections
Additionally i have added a 90deg male header to the Paewong for signals to the ATMEGA328 (so i can remove it without having to desolder anything or having shared/spliced wires to the buttons).
The grounds for the ArcEyes will be run from the Madcatz SE Turbo/Guide PCB (not shared with button grounds)
The intention is that everything and anything is disconnect-able. The wires that are soldered onto the MadCatz Turbo/Guide PCB are for a future mod. I know i need them there, just haven;t finalized the plan
Here are some pics
- 90deg male header and start + back pads added

- same as above but full view (including joystick directions and usb header)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3285/4559824241_cefc7f9701.jpg
- buttons installed into the SE case (notice the female swiss machine headers)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3351/4559825089_2f02fe0b76.jpg
- turbo/guide PCB (i removed the soldered on VCC/ground and replaced with male headers (NOTE to modders: swiss machine female headers are stackable
)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3104/4560455964_b6596207d4.jpg
- custom signal harness (from Paewong to ATMEGA328 PCB. i only need six inputs for my mod)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3658/4559828117_c01a492074.jpg
- close up of the above header connection end

- connected outside of the case (output harnesses for ATMEGA PCB not built yet)

yeah, sounds good so far want to read more!
yeah, no kiddin’ o_O (and I thought my stick was clean xD (it’s allright, but not THAT clean)
32teeth> :o I’m really looking forward to what it is you’re going to do with that second atmega !
keep up the good work
Hy Mike,
forgot the resistor values for the boards. Could you post them? Or the datasheet of the leds?
me too… …LOL. i won’t be able to work on this too much this weekend. i will be at FITC (Flash in the Can) Toronto for the next 3 days!
should be something up by tuesday wednesday
