Arc-Eye / Project Gouken - ARCEYE2 IS ARRIVING!

Thats entirely possible. Another effect that can be done is to have all the leds lite up but at say half potential. Then when pressed it goes full potential.

lol just a thought (boredom at its best)… is it possible to do a blinking effect like those neon lights in Vegas where, lets say one arc-eyes lights up and then the next one, and then the next one does giving that illusion of movement?

Actually, masterstrike is capable of doing that… but there is a delay because of a problem we found with the design of the board…

so… …back in page #7 of this thread i put up a truth table for combination of button presses and color outputs
i was planning on using the 74HC238 chips but they are hard to come by so i used a 74HC138 instead (similar 3-8 line decoder but active LO)

here is the out come (sorry my breadboard only had enough room for 2 buttons and the chip, but you get the point)

the setup

button press (single)

2 buttons pressed result

next up… …soldered up perfboard protoype

laid out and soldered

blue status LED (because i have a whole roll of these that’s why)

that’s right, and SMD LED on a perfboard

bottom side soldering

i just realized that when i soldered up the perfboard compared to the proto breadboard layout i forgot to enable the 2 grounds (E0 and E1) as well as VCC on (E2) to reverse the active LO to active HI

will post when fixed

Wow very nice work!
Can you post a wiring schematic?

I was using Fritzing for the breadboard layout and PCB layout but the autotroute for schema blows
i will have to do it manually at some point

PCB idea (not optimized)

oh and the only reason i did not solder the dip directly was so i can experiment with the 74HC138 (active LO) 74HC238 (active HI) and the 74HC137 (active LO + latch)

Much appreciated. What program are you using to generate those diagrams?

Purplearms, there should be an email from paypal for you.

Thanks dude… Gummowned is working his magic… can’t wait to see pics of your setup

So if I were to PayPal you $27 for 8 Arc-Eyes, would I be eligible for the “pre-paid” first shipment status? Or are you still waiting on the LEDs?

I don’t have them in my hands yet (soon i hope… its currently in the mail on its way to me!!)

When I get them, my order of priority is simply to ship arc-eyes to those who paid first. Following that, I will ship in order of payment date.

Woot! Im all tingly inside waiting in excitement for this and MS lol :wgrin: waku waku, waku waku

Before I go sending off my payment, do I have to specify what value resistors I want with the order if I want each LED to run at 10ma instead of 20ma (so I can do press-on-activation + rumble with two different colors)?

Just let me know in the paypal note how many you wanted, and that you want to run at 10ma, and i’ll send you the correct resistors. Once you get them, I recommend that you check the brightness at 10ma first on one arc-eye to see if the brightness is acceptable

Okay, sweet, I did just that. Payment’s been sent. Can’t wait!

The very first successful implementation of MasterStrike to control arc-eyes that are half power when not pressed, full power when pressed, and rumble LED activation!

Using my superb ms paint skills I drew a diagram on how to achieve dim blue, bright blue on activation, and green on rumble.

The leds on the arc-eye are setup to common anode. I used 200ohm resistor values for blue and green. I used 2.2k resistors to dim the blue.
