|| Arakune || Bees everywhere

Thanks for the input guys. I deffinitely have to work on my execution and combos. I play Hakumen, Tager, Ragna, Jin and Litchi all the time. but thats about it. I play v-13 and Rachel ocassionally and both of the people that play each of those chars are some of the best in Florida. It’s so hard lol.

I just have to learn the mixups. At first, i wasnt even able to combo at all. Now I find openings all the time. I just have to keep the combos tight and learn to mix it up.

Hey is there any good guides for someone new to Arakune? So far all i have seen is move lists and combo lists.

Thats pretty much what you’ll find anywhere. Besides the instructional DVD that came with BB, which i HIGHLY recommend you watch, especialy since you are picking him up now.

To summarize:

The name of the game is clouds, curses and bug-linked combos. His pressure game is great and he has so many options(6 diff teleports, 3 diff distances with his j6a/b/c, 3 dives, 3 clouds, etc.)

Basics is learning how to zone and pressure. Theyre both just as important as Arakune’s CORE style of gameplay is mixups. Throwing the opponent off is what you want to do. One mistake on their part and its easy 50% health you get, free. Even if they dont mess up, you can make them panic.

When you learn how to corner combo its 100% guardbreak if done right and can lead to all kinds of absolutely ridiculous things.

You need to learn when to breath down the opponents neck and when to pull back and float.
Look up Arakune’s flowchart on Google images. It’s pretty basic but I thought it was a comedic way of laying out a basic, begginer-friendly strategy.

If you have any questions about specific things, drop them. Someone will have an answer to those questions.

Tutorial playlist of all that is included in the DVD.

Arakune Flowchart.

Refer to the combo, video and matchup forums in Dustloop as well as this one when you feel like you’ve gotten more of a grip on him.

and i recomend to start training WHITOUT the curse/clouds so you can get a more solid base.:nunchuck:
and THEN introduce the bees:china: (you will know when, that is when people start to ragequitting on you:rofl:)

What ^^^^^^^ said.

anyone got any good guard strings they’d like to post? the only ones i use are

-2b, 5b, 9, 2a, 2b…

-2b, 5b, 9, {66, 4b}1-2x…

-3aa (A bug hits), 3aa, 3aa…

for blockstrings i like to just do any A move a few times then go into jump back dash cancelling jb since you get a lot of mixup off it. you can land a jd, you can do a throw after it, or an overhead or low etc. just a whole lot of options. after you get a few jds in people tend to get paranoid and just block low lots.

Ok So , I want a few people to help with the block string -> guardsnap video Im planning out. Kombo , Ill hit you up on MSN.

9, 2a ? Im guessing thats for a jump into a dive. It sounds like it would work against someone blocking. But if they try to reversal you they would probably hit before you.

I have started to discover alot of people arent falling for the double [66-4B] shenanigan anymore. Try maybe [66-4B] -> 5A~6B (if this is blocked) -> [66-4B] I do that alot.

All Im gonna say is doujin try implementing some 9A~B~5B in there : ]

i discovered it’s better to do 2a, 5b, 9, 2a, 2c midscreen because 2c dive crosses up if you do j2a dive like as soon as you get off the ground. a lot of people fall for the cross up so you pretty much get a free curse off of j2c, 5b -> combo

but yeah arkayne, hurry up with that block string video =P

Thanks kElso712 and LAMG, that’s a lot of help. I do have one question for now, what are some of the bred and butter combos that I will always be using and needed to know? There is just so many combos that I can’t really see trying to learn every one of them at this point :-p

Thanks

I dont know who it was that mentioned it, but try and learn him at first without the clouds. Combo-heavy arakune is always gonna be solid.

Main I would say is :

2A~6A~5D (ends with curse)

J.5A~J.5B~J.5C~J.5D (J means youre doing these attacks in the air, this one in particular you can do without having to DJ [double jump ])

When you have the curse combos, like the ones above, down… Learn the 6A loop and C loop combos. The 6A loop isnt used as much but has been replaced with 2A which is more effective imo.

After that, honestly its learning the advance stuff.

ground-to-air combos, air-to-ground combos, corner trap, recursing, and mixups.

This is a more advance combo that is followed up from the first one i listed:

2A~6A~5B~214A(CB)~[6C~5C~2C(2A6B)]X3~J.6A~JC~5A~5C~5D.

but dont worry about that until later. Trust me, by the time you learn the basics you wont need forums as much, you’ll figure stuff out on your own.

2A6B? i’m assuming you mean 2B6A? or…?

lol yes, my bad… was totally not thinking when i wrote that. I kind of came out automatically, i’ve had 4 hours of sleep for the past 3 nights lol

Don’t mind my mistakes. Just correct them:)

What are some good strategies for getting out of the corner?

if you’re getting rushed down, just be patient and block til you get an opening to teleport to the other side

edit - forgot counter assault xx super if you have 100% heat

pretty much all kune has as far as getting out of corner

btw, anyone know the j.D combos that souji uses? it looks like he uses something like j.D, BC or CB bug, j.2C xx air combo but i’m not really sure. i want to start using that combo because it’s awesome as a midscreen curse and recurse.

Hope I can do my strings online… They require a hell of alot of dive canceling to stay on them

Yo im having a harder time dive canceling the opponent when theyre standing/blocking. its easier when theyre knocked down.

Is it just me or does this happen to the rest of you? I feel like on standing/blocking the timing is a lot tighter.

Yeah Im just trying to come up with some like really interesting and useful setups.

I spent all day yesterday trying to discover some blockstrings -> guardsnap.

the timing is the same, just different. When you’re used to one it’s tricky to adapt to the other.

OK, so its not just me. The standing/blocking one i can get but for some reason i get 2B instead of 5B lol I think I dont neutral the stick fast enough.
