[Apr 21, 2012] Spring Super Showdown! SCV, SFxT, SSF4:AE, UMvC3, KOFXIII, MK (North Oxford, MA)

Okay guys, let’s get Spring in full swing with a huge fighter blowout!!!

I’ve got the Pine Ridge Country Club letting us use their huge banquet room for this.

All tournament entries will be $10, and there is a $5 venue fee. All payouts are to only the top three placers, and pots are split 70/20/10. The plan is to set up three 8ft. tables in a loose U and run at least 2 tournaments simultaneously (one 2d one 3d) all day long. The goal is to get 12 TV’s and PS3’s, 4 setups per table, so we can run these tournaments swiftly and efficiently. Anyone willing to bring a TV/PS3 will have their venue fee waived. Let me know if you’re going to bring a setup. Only EVO monitors or tubes, please. If you are bringing a TV/setup, I ask that you please be here by no later than Noon unless absolutely necessary to provide us with ample time to set up.

If you don’t see a game you want to play, then let me know. Also, time permitting, we can run teams in anything you in the community are interested in. You guys just have to bring copies of the games, because being the owner of a 360, I don"t have any. Signups will start at 11am, and I will begin running tournaments at 1pm. The tournament schedules will be fairly loose, but i hope to run tourneys in around 2 hours apiece. Anyone interested in streaming this event, let me know. I was hoping to actually get a separate stream for both 2d and 3d.

The plan is to run as many games as possible. This will include:
[]Soul Calibur V (singles $10, teams $5 per person 3 man teams)
[
]Street Fighter X Tekken (singles $10)
[]Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (singles $10)
[
]Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (singles $10)
[]King of Fighters XIII (singles $10)
[
]Tekken 6 (singles $10)

Mortal Kombat (singles $10)
The Country Club will be offering food for you to purchase off a limited menu (likely burgers, dogs, fried foods, deli sandwiches, etc.) and there is a FULL BAR available as well, with a walk up window through the banquet hall. I ask only that you guys drink responsibly, be prepared to show ID when carded, and that you conduct yourselves in a becoming manner. The bar area itself is quite large with multiple TV’s so you can relax and eat while you wait for a tournament to begin. If you have any questions, contact me on twitter @NE_SoulCalibur or on facebook.

I’m posting this on 8WR, SRK, and TZ so I’m hoping for a big ass turnout for the entire New England Fighting Game community. Hope to see you all there!!!

Sounds good to me! I can bring a display and a PS3 with all 7 of the games.

Great, thanks blueNINE. That’s a huge help. I’ll add you to the list of waived venue fees. I really appreciate your generosity.

If I can get a ride up there, I’m in.

Hopefully I will be able to make it and bring some friends sounds like a good time. And you have KoF13 on the menu !!!

I can bring SF, Marvel and SCV with a 360 and two Asuses. (Man that word looks funny. Too close to anuses.)

Are you planning to hold these on both PS3 and 360?

Dagon - I’m actually running these on PS3 only, however you are welcome to bring your 360 to play casuals on. I have absolutely no objections to that, especially since you are really helping out by bringing 2 ASUS monitors. Thanks!

I have a PS3 if needed to help run this. Will there be any Super Turbo on the side?

We can use all the PS3’s we can get, the more we have, the more stations I can use to run the tournaments. Since I have the banquet room from 11am-11pm, we can run whatever you guys want after we finish the main tourneys. As long as there are people willing to play you in Super Turbo, I’ll be willing to run a bracket for it. Or, you can just do casuals or money matches in it after the tourneys are finished.

If we can somehow get some set ups for ST there I can run a side tourney in it if I can. If I have to settle with HDR, I will lower my standards for it  lol

Justin I can bring a pc with hdtv with me if you were willing to play it emulated. I have pretty much every fighting game pre-2003 on my pc emulated. Even if you weren’t willing to use the setup, I’d be down for Super Turbo. I fell in love with the game all over again at Winter Brawl.

<3 u mike

Eh, I’ll leave the Xbox then. Just one more thing to misplace. Provided nothing comes up between now and then, you can pencil me in for the two Asus-es though.

Ill bring my laptop with GGPO ST. Its not the ideal situation but hey…so dsblackfox, can we run an ST side tourney?

You most certainly can. That goes for any other games you guys dig as well (i.e. Melty Blood, Darkstalkers, GuiltyGear/BlazBlue, etc.).

I’m hoping to get a Skullgirls tournament going after the mains if the game is out by then (currently scheduled for Apr 4th release). Would anyone else be interested in that?

Sounds fun. I’ll bring a 360 and a copy of KOF13/UMvC3/Skullgirls if it’s out by then.

Also I’ll spread the word and see about getting some more RI attendance too :x

I was talking to Eighty88 (who is kind enough to also be doing the stream for us) at this past B.O.N.E., and he tells me that a lot of the 2D games (i.e. AE:2012, UMvC3, etc.) actually run better on the 360, and that a lot of you guys actually play on 360, so if you guys want to bring copies of the 2D games for XBOX and bring your 360’s, that’s fine with me. I can also offer my own 360 to help out as well now. Also updated main post with stream URL information.

I’d really rather see local tournaments start being held on PS3, since that’s what almost all of the majors use, even if the 360 runs the games a bit better.

blueNINE - I agree, but if we can get more consoles/copies of the games by allowing some of the 2D games to be played on 360, I don’t mind. Either way, it’s what you guys as a community would prefer. I’m not a 2D gamer, so I can’t really offer a valid opinion, but SCV, T6, and SFxT will be run on PS3. We can vote for AE:2012, UMvC3 to be on either. But even if there are 360’s available for casual, it’ll be a good thing.
