I’m torn on this; the 360 runs AE better than PS3, but like blueNINE said, almost all majors use PS3s. I would vote for PS3, just to get used to PS3 timing. I don’t need crutches that won’t be there at majors. I would also oppose mixing; it should be all or nothing. Don’t use CRTs AND flat panels. Don’t use PS3s AND 360s. Everything should be uniform. Now, with that said, I understand that it’s hard to acquire enough of one type to discriminate, but that’s just my $0.02.
That makes perfect sense to me, Dagon. And again, I have no problem whatsoever with whatever you guys choose to do for the 2D games, I’m just trying to be open to accommodate what I hope to be a high volume of players. The 3D games (i.e. SCV and Tekken 6) will be undoubtedly played on PS3. I’ve just seen/heard from the 2D community that the 360 is what a lot of people play on.
However, when it comes to the TV’s, I cannot discriminate. I’m already at the mercy of the community to provide games/setups etc., and that’s why offer to waive the venue fee, but as long as the TV doesn’t lag and cause problems, I can’t say no. I mean, we run tourneys (like BONE) on both. I myself just ordered an ASUS monitor which I will be bringing, and if we get a bunch of monitors and we don’t need the CRT’s, great. We can use the CRT’s for casual or side tourneys.

Was it ever decided which system(s) will be used? I think it’d be ideal to for that to be concrete, and for it to be in the opening post. Also, I can bring a PS3 with all of the games that you’re running, as well as a CRT.
Also, can you please post this tournament on the Test Your Might forum for the Mortal Kombat players? I want to see a good turnout for that tournament!
blueNINE - Per your request, I signed up for TYM and posted a thread there. I also added a link to that thread to all the other posts. PS3 will be the console standard for all fighters, per EVO rules. However, we might have a lot of 360’s, so for 2D, I may just run an “official” tourney on PS3 and another less serious one on 360. Also, if people want to run other titles on 360 (i.e. SF:3S, SSF2T, Skullgirls, etc.) then they may. 360’s will be for casuals, side tourneys and what not.

I’m gonna try to make it to this along with a couple friends(if they can get the day off), and if I can, I’ll bring a PS3 set up, but considering my car needs a new fuel line at the moment, I’m not sure I’ll be able to.

I should be able to make this one i live like less than a half hour a away right now since Im working in mass. As far as games go i got umvc3 and sfxt on both systems got king of fighters for the ps3 and SCV for xbox… (I know it back-words just roll with it.) I’ll bring all of them in my car just in case. Also i should be able to drop by pretty early since i am just in charlton let me know if you need help setting things up or carrying equipment in any thing like that.

Car might be done tomorrow, but depending how much it runs me for the repairs I might not have enough to enter, but I’ll try to make it either way.

Manuel Gomez - you certainly may use the ps3 wireless controller, you just need to sync it with whatever console you’ll be playing on and be sure to turn off your controller when you are done playing.
Tsaikotyk - glad to hear you might make it either way. If you’re low on cash, you can always wait for the cheaper $5 side tourneys to start, or challenge someone to money matches.

Is there any chance of running UMvC3 like early in the day? I wanna come and play in this but I can’t if Marvel starts at like 6 or 7 i was thinkin maybe 2 or 3 and bang it out early
ill_will - Sure. I don’t have a set schedule for which games will be played when, so if we’ve got the people and the copies of the game, I’m fine with running whatever, whenever. And since you actually requested we play UMvC3 early, then that’s what we’ll do. I plan on having all the singles tourney’s done by 7pm or so, so we have plenty of time for side tourneys, casual, money matches, and team tourneys.
Ok guys, just a quick announcement. Thanks to the awesome response of the NEFGC, we are going to have plenty of monitors and setups. If you haven’t made a verbal (by posting here I mean) commitment to bring something already, then I can no longer waive any more venue fee’s. I’ve written down everyone who’s committed to bringing anything so far for waived entrance fee’s, but I’ve got to make a cut-off because we’ll end up having far more than we need. A big thanks to everyone who is bringing something to help out.
