Anyone Still Playing 12?

It’s not really that much more active than this place at the moment, but it has a more diverse community. Activity usually picks up quite a bit when there are new releases.

i was very disappointed by this game, i expected a lot more for the price…and sadly it didn’t deliver IMO

Short answer: No.
Long answer: A little bit.

It’s a damn shame, one of my most anticipated games of the last few years and it flops completely.

I only get to play at tourneys since the online for xbox360 hasn’t been patched. If it was working I would be playing it a lot more. I am still playing it though.

screw xii… just play 98/2002/XI… that’s kof at it’s best… 97 too …but most don’t agree

PS3 online is pretty good against yellow and blue. I think I’m on the crappiest dsl here (1.5mb dl, less than a gig on the ul), and I’m getting full speed matches. I think a lot of people are exaggerating or doing other things on the connection while playing.

There will be KOF XII at my tournament…taking things into my own hands… Go KOF XII!!!

cool and thnx!

It’s distance based. If you’re in the same state or not too far “A few states away” The game is pretty lag free with minimal or no input lag. However as you go coast to coast such as east coast to west coast fighting, then you get some input lag. Another thing to keep in mind that a lot of the KOF XII players are located in areas like say Mexico, New York and California and Texas. It depends on how many fans you have playing. If you can get at least five people on your friends list and they’re all in the same state, I’d say you’re good to go. Otherwise you better learn to love single player.

I play all three of these games very well: SF IV, KOF XII and HD-Remix.

I know the system of each game and the options on defense and offense. In a short comparison lets take a look at game options between the games.

KOF XII:
Absoulte Gaurd
Small Jump
Parry (unsafe if attack coming off the parry is guarded)
Run
Roll
Back Dash(Invincible to throws not attacks)
No input reset advantage for opponent on the ground
Counter Hit (stun opening)
Counter Hit (juggle opening when hit in air)
Critical Counter
No throw break
Throws have start-up
Normals beat throws( counter bating on guard in fear of being thrown) (If you try to stop someone from throwing you coming out of gaurd stun at disadvantage with an attack you will be counter hitted= Critical Counter Combo)
Dealing with fireballs(jump, guard, invincible move to pass threw, roll, clash "sousai, parry(high risk)

HD-Remix
Absoulte Gaurd
Reset advantage
Throw tech (which puts you back in reset)
No throw start up
Dealing with fireballs(jump, guard, invincible move to pass threw(high risk)
Cross-ups beat dps

SF IV
Absoulte Gaurd
Dash
No input reset advantage for opponent on the ground
Throws have start-up
Throw break
Back Dash(Invincible to throws and attacks “can be caught by some kara throws” “can use backdash as way to escape throw situations for free"
Focus Attack (parry one hit only can be stopped by multiple jabs lv1, lv2, or lv3, lose life when parry adds to meter for Ultra)
Focus Attack Dash Cancel [mp+fk] need two ex stocks to preform( GG roman cancel or Garou “Breaking Cancel System” tapping forward 2x or back 2x) empty charge dash cancel forward or back is unsafe.
Dealing with fireballs( jump, focus absorb"lose life”, guard, invincible move to pass threw(high risk)
Armor Break(moves that beat focus attack and leave you open for attack.)
Cross-ups beat dps

Which game do you want to play?

I got an answer…

Here it is:

The game I can find people to play against in. How’s that? And I don’t mean 3 people either.

I know I’m not.

Fuck is absolute Guard?

It’s where the game keeps blocking for you regardless of the direction you are holding as long as you don’t leave blockstun. Lets you do stupid shit like SF4 mash dp the entire time you are in blockstun so you get the reversal as soon as you leave it. IIRC an example of a game without absolute guard is 3S.

So basically its a noob mechanic.

@saisyu nice info, can you explain what is the meaning of

  • input reset advantage
  • absolute guard (is this the same term with alternate guard ?)
sorry for noob question, thx in advance.

Absolute and alternate guard aren’t the same. Alternate guard is when a player is put into blocking animation by an attack and cannot be thrown. You don’t NEED to actually block the attack(the attack can whiff), just have it put you into block animation. Once that happens, alternate between standing and crouching guarding. No grabs can connect and no unblockables can either. Remxi already covered Absolute guard:

When the opponent has hit you out of the air with an attack that does not knock you down and causes you to go into a recovery flip status, if they put an attack out meaty on top of your landing recovery where you will land your only option is to guard. No command will be accepted not even reversal dps. 3rd strike you have the option of parry, but not inputting a dp on frame 1 because the attack is on top of your netural landing frame and the computer will not accept any command until frame 1 of neutral landing recovery. If an attack is put out meaty on you in those systems that have input landing recovery advantage you will not have a chance to dp on frame 1 because the input is not being accepted and you will not have time to complete the motion with a move that is on top of your sprite already actively hitting.

Games that have input landing recovery input advantage:
Super Street Fighter II’ X ( gaurd option only)
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike(gaurd or parry but no dp or supers)

Games that do not have landing recovery input advantage are:
The King of Fighters XII:( can dp on frame 1, parry on frame 1, can roll on frame 1, can not backdash because it is not invincible to attacks on frame 1, meaty attack has priority on reset against other normal attacks that do not have invincibility frames on start up)

Street Fighter IV: (can focus attack on frame 1, dp on frame 1, backdash on frame 1, meaty attack has priority on reset against other “normal” attacks that do not have invincibility frames on start up)

Oh wow, you’re such a tough guy, aren’t you?

Now look at each game again now that we have had a chance to play all and we know more now verses when they were coming out.
