Anyone play SF4 PC?

GFWL: kanggaruu
Characters: Bison and Gouken
Location: East Coast USA

Add me!

I havenā€™t played SF4 for ages. Capcom not releasing SSF4 on PC got me really angry and then the college came. Anyways, itā€™s holidays time so I was thinking about playing some SF4 during this time.

I think my
GFWL: Th30n 007

Location: Europe

Skill: Terribad!

P.S. Contact me over PM, I donā€™t really check GWFL that much, the system is horrible, steam all the way - concerning steam, is there like a SF4 PC Steam group?
P.P.S. Amrolive, if you are still here we need to play couple of matches!

What time are you usually on? Might see what youā€™ve got. Bear in mind, I run Gouken too, so might be quite a few mirrors in our set.

Donā€™t know where youā€™re from but itā€™s no problem for me in Europe. I preferably play ranked and i always get a full list of players. And there are always two or three from the list with good connection.
Competition and variety of chars is good, too. The last few days (or should i say evenings) iā€™ve run into Claws, Elfs, Rufusā€™, Dics, Rogs, Sakuras, Feis, Hondas, Giefs, Abels, Blankas and two Gens. And most of them knew what to do. I even fought a ranked match against one of the the few SG players with his Seth (JadedNoobGamer) and managed to beat him (with a good portion of luck in round 3).
As far as I can tell there are some very good matches these days. And a well-adjusted number of Ryus and Kens.
Heyā€¦ Iā€™ve even met a Sagat. Top tier in vanilla but in my surrounding one of the rarest chars since SF4 release in summer 2009.
I canā€™t play him, tooā€¦

Ok so recently SF4 price went down a lot and i was thinking about buying the game (mostly for online play) so i was wondering, is it worth buying?
how many people still playā€™n this?
is the online play smooth or rather not?
whats the max ping for acceptable gameplay (little to no lagg)?

i would appreciate your help!

Thereā€™s no ping measurement in SF4. It just goes by green yellow or orange/red bars. As far as games online, it really depends on where youā€™re located. Iā€™m in southern california and thereā€™s a decent number of players online though only at key times. Itā€™s definitely not like WoW or whateverā€¦ you have to be on at peak times to find players with a good connection. Itā€™s nothing like xbox or PS3.

expect a lot of fps drops even on yellow/green bar connections. It will fuck you up online.

Aye Balrog was the one that works 99% on Keyboard - I had intended to main Guile (Used him and all his variations in all previous SF4 games) but his Sonic Booms donā€™t really come out too well on Keyboard and, naturally, some of his combos and motions are very difficult to pull out on reaction with keypresses.

Donā€™t particularly like any of the others bar Honda who I mess with once in a blue-moon but suck ass as.

GGā€™s earlier today, as said I feel weā€™d have had a real good session if it wasnā€™t for the long-distance lag. Big wave to anyone who knows me or fought me.

As for the topic of peak-times and finding players, I tend to avoid Ranked (Which I wager is the most used feature) and Championship is dead (Only got to play 2 games since I got into G1 months ago) so Player Match seems to be smack in the middle.

Iā€™ve no problem finding people via Arcade Fight Rec regardless of hour but obviously your chances of finding a stable connection are far greater during peak-times and most of the people I spar with are on later in the evenings - Sadly thereā€™s a large number of people who drift around and donā€™t seem to experienced with the game in general so it can be quite frustrating finding the right opponent but ultimately thereā€™s still a big pool of players out there so Iā€™d say SF4 will live on for another while.

Gameā€™s pretty dead imo. Only times you get decent matches is during peak hours, and not even that fast most of the time. (Iā€™m in GMT+1, Holland). I spend about 170 euros on this shit and theyā€™re not even supporting it (IE releasing updates/new games) anymore. GG capcom, nice going with the PC gaming community. Not gonna be buying anything from them anymore.

Itā€™s not Capcoms fault entirely. The PC version didnā€™t do as well or sustainable as the other platforms so itā€™s natural a big company not wanting to shell out on more for it or a SSF4 release.

It was similar with RE4 where it was released with poor texturing and looked terrible and yet it was the RE4 PC community who made so many huge mods, patches and addons to bring it beyond console versions - Iā€™ve so many movies of great community addons at work and people still play it today despite RE5 being out for ages.

SF4 PC wonā€™t see that as much but it does happen, and there are still many people playing it. I donā€™t have much trouble finding matches at any hour but obviously peak time is best. Itā€™s dying, sure, but still worth playing.

I wish i wasnā€™t addicted to this shit so i wouldnā€™t log on as much. Online play is so frustrating holy shit. half the time i lose because of random lag spikes, fucking annoying as hell.

add me! Needmoreg1playa

Itā€™s dying? O_O

Uh-oh.

Well, I recently bought the PC version, mainly because I donā€™t have Live even though I own SSIV. But playing online is fun, and personally I find the keyboard easier in some respects because of the ability to press three keys at the same time with more finesse. But like it was said before, charge characters are quite hard with the keyboard indeed.

Still, itā€™s a fun game that I would like to get better at to the point where I can start playing competitive. Iā€™ve always had an affinity for fighting games.

Anyway, my Live name is Hejin57. Feel free to hit me up.

buy it online

Hello.
I saw that it is possible to buy a downloadable version of sf4 for pc online.
How much characters less than the super version does it have?
thanks

:china:

I love MANGA

haha charging on the keyboard is tricky, but its worth it imo!
My name is Lenny Ray Zappa, i live in turkey so i might lag some times, i like playing as ryu when not akuma, and i seem to play a real good balrog (or people just dont know what to do against balrogs)
that said, i hate charge characters and im still a noob i guess, cant fadc yet, but im getting there!

SFIV PC is vanilla version, you can buy it on ā€œsteamā€, it has 25 characters makoto, ibuki, t.Hawk, cody, hakan, guy, juri and adon are not in this earlier version of the game and all characters have only 1 ultra.

Lol it is far from dead, I have been playing every day or so since the release, the only thing dead is G1 and above tournaments. there are lots of players in europe at whatever time of the day or night. maybee some of you donā€™t have such a great connection and that limits a lot the distance until which you can play.

I have had decent play condition from western europe with people as remote as estonia and turkey. russia and east cost on america seem to be the limit for my connection and I usually only get three oranges with those guys.

Thank you Ajunta

Iā€™m actually looking for friends to practice with. Is anyone willing to friend me up and play some player matches now and again? I like to talk with the mic and it would be good to learn about what Iā€™m doing wrong and such.

EDIT: It would help if I left my gamertag, eh? Itā€™s TheDomithan

Iā€™m name in-game is ZMumbleZ. (Iā€™m not sure what GFWL stands for)

Well as of today, itā€™s my 4th day playing online. I lost pretty much most of them, since my online experience is playing against the CPU in hardest level. I canā€™t seem to be able to learn the proper footsiies and the various character match-ups. And I think Iā€™m taking LOTS of unnecessary risks with Akuma (thatā€™s a no-no according to all the strategy pages Iā€™ve been to).

I just hope somebody here can teach me a few tricks about playing against human players. Iā€™ve tried asking random players over in the game but they donā€™t seem to respond. :frowning:

Edit: TheDomithan, Iā€™ve added you. Hope we can learn something together.
