Akumas footsies just takes time to learn, mainly experience. Once you play enough you will know what frame traps are best and what ranges are best for each character. His sweep is his best normal really, and cr.mp is amazing for frame traps and demon flip gimmicks to catch people off guard. Learn his basic bnb to punish anything and everything. I thought I only had difficulty against Chun li since I lost many games against her, but after more days playing online, I realise I have difficulty against all the other characters.
I jump against them too often, and against Ryu that’ll normally lead to a SRK+ultra combo. I’m not used to the online game cos of the slight delay in execution. I guess i needa play more to gain more experience.

When i enter GFWL there are usually 2-3 games listed (regardless game mode), most of them with poor connection (0-2 bars). Does it mean the PC scene has already faded away or is it something with my IC (NAT, ports)?
Don’t use ‘quick match’ it’s terrible. Use custom match and search for stability. Or just host.

Can I ask all the players who have recently got into the PC game, or long time players who are still active, how they are finding the online population and stability. (bear in mind I’m in the UK)

Really want to play it now, can?t wait to June for the AE 
and just want to make sure it?s not going to be too difficult to get matches every day.
Also i only have a 400k upstream (6 meg down), but my ping is usually around 50ms in the early afternoon. if this good enough? or will I struggle?
I?m a total newbie and just want to learn online really. and very excited to delve deep even if i get beat 100 times in a row. but if my connection, or the online population means i wont get a good experience i will hold off if need be.

I get matches every day at all times, in player mode(non ranked) and ranked mode as well, so even though we are still in Vanilla, PC is alive and waiting for AE! Your connection sounds just fine as well.
You will probably get rocked your first 100 games or so but thats what learning is all about
Try and find someone at or just above your level to learn the best.

Same here. Every day at all times. Since the AE release is confirmed, it seems even more people popped up.
And I’m from Germany. The connection to the UK is very playable.

I played four matches. had some luck against the first guy i played, almost won a round off him. the next three pretty much got 6 perfect round in a row against me, minus maybe a normal crouch kick of their life every odd round.
it was very funny, and i was VERY bad and beaten down. but the important thing was i had fun!!!
i will learn execution in training mode, and focus on defense online, as im going to lose anyway so i might as well learn to block well, and figure out timing, until i feel confident with some combos etc.
added one great guy to my friends list (shoalin moomin), he was very good, beat me up, but very friendly.
hopefully any other beginners can add me, and we can sort out some matches every evening or something and improve together.

How is the PC scene? I’m really consider getting SSFIV AE on Steam instead of PS3 since I don’t have a 360.
At the moment, you can always find games. It usually takes a couple of list refreshes to get the most stable ones.
What I like is that you can get different matchups which can be a good and bad thing. You get to play different matchups but the means you can’t practice one single matchup.
People I’ve played with are pretty good, there are some “scrubs” using Zangief or Shotokan characters but I have yet to see the famous “rage messages” after defeating them.
Although people play different characters I mostly end up playing the same people so you get to know them by name.
I’d describe the PC scene like “zombie-ish” we’re supposed to be dead since the uproar about bad connections due to ?“Microsh*t’s GFWL”? (don’t know for sure who’s at fault here) and the announcement of SSF4 for all other platforms than PC…but we still live…well, I don’t care…Capcom sold enough already.
I’m pretty curious if it will be the same with AE. I’d wait and see if things will be as terribad (thanks 7h30n, I’ve learned a new word xP) as in SFIV aka vanilla.

Before ssf4 came out and when sf4 was fresh out for PC back in 2008, you could always find matches no problem. Now that the final version of the game is on all platforms it should be similar given the fact that many people will purchase it for console and PC.
With the supposed better matchmaking, now we can see more green bars!
Man does anybody find that the players on PC just like to jump all day and tick throw? Frustrates the hell out of me, especially when the best connection I can find 3/4 bars, teching throws and anti-airing on reaction is not 100%. It’s garbage play like this that makes me want to buy a PS3, simply because there would be more players with far better connections.
I really hope there’s less online lag when AE comes to PC.
