Anyone Else Waiting to purchase a used copy?

the the pay to win lol that mentality is present in most MMORPG already lol in fact any game that has the “option” for you to buy gear/item = pay to win.

at the very least in a rpg type game you can always choose to farm your items instead of buying, or buying and save time.

whats the incentive for people to buy shit in a fighting game lol outside of it just simply being better.

(in these games it usually ends up with most of the community giving in, and buy those items just to keep a competitive edge, the rest just gives up)

I’m fine with small advantages cause that the incentive to buy them, haven’t played SFxT so I can’t say how much better those DLC gems are, but its to be expected.

I will not be supporting Capcom on this one.
This isnt DLC.
Its locked content thats already on the disc

I do want to respect the “time was alloted for content creation”, "other content was left out for completion reasoning.
Its hard to do this when the content alloted for DLC is trivial crap like Palette swaps, and or content that is already on the disc
upon the date of shipping.

that’s the difference.

They produced a game. and said “you will get this portion for the first full charge”, "this portion will be hidden from you, even though it is complete enough to be on your disc that you purchased, “because we appointed it as such”.

saying "we gave them 100 bucks to complete this, we gave them 100 bucks to complete that.
you only deserve portions on the disc you pay for. is wrong.

it holds no weight with me.

it comes down to “They will make this much cash” “they spent this much total”. nothing more.
I do not mind them producing content in the future, and sellingit to me at a later date.
but for them to create the content before shipping, and lock it out, so they can charge more. is wrong.

They are basically upping the price for content on the original disc from 60 to AT LEAST 75. much more if you only buy the portions your interested in.

if they want to revisit a great old game and make it better, I am happy to pay.
if they want to lock content so that they can jack the price tag above and beyond 60 bucks.

That I am not ok with.

“They spent this much” “the disc was finalized”.
content on paid product was locked so that they could jack the price over 75.

If you sell me a 60 dollar game, then you go and use those game design tools to double the content.
Im happy to pay.
If you lock trivial crap and already completed content, so that you can charge extra. Im not.
Some people dont even see a fuzzy line here.
No only do they cry when people dont buy their games on day one for full price, and cry about piracy. they try and find ways to jack the price up even higher.
just for day one content… that they will lock until day two. (DO NOT try and tell me that the color system is still a work in progress… I saw video of 20+ color sets for everyone last year…)

I dont mind paying for DLC.
in fact I enjoy quality DLC.

I will not be supporting Capcom on this one.
This isnt DLC.
Its locked content thats already on the disc

I think SfxT is a $60 product. I also think waiting for a copy is only gonna set you behind. While you and others like you are on the fence, I am putting the finishing touches on my combos, tag combos, gem setups, and meter management.

The DLC is on the disc because they dont want to split the playerbase when it comes out.

The 12 characters will most likely come with a large update that will be touted as super SFXT.

There will not be another disc release for this series, its been stated over and over again.

Until we actually see game breaking gems get released to the marketplace ( with a price tag ) I think its kind of asinine to complain about it.

Unless you or anyone on the fence are planning to win majors, I frankly don’t see why any of us should care. We are all still going to enjoy the game just as much if we do end up buying it later.

To me, a $60 game is a game where the developers spend the 100% of development time on the game itself, instead of diverting almost 25% fucking percent of development resources to post release content to sell while actually spending virtually no time after release to develop them.

Not the MMos that have 10 million customers.
Maybe the @#$tty MMOS that are barely hanging by a thread. prayin for any way to mooch 10 extra bucks out of every useless trivial virtual item that 98 percent of customers dont give a @#$ about because the quality is horibad and microscopic. Content that could be created ten fold better by fan / users in less than an hour.

===========

there is a difference between revisiting and reinvesting in an old game, that people would love to see expanded.
and locking content so they can charge above 60$ with content thats ready enough to be on the disc.

I would LOVE to buy additional content for SF4 AE.
I love every shoto type there is. each has its strengths and balances.

I will refuse to support a product that locks trivial crap like Colors and gems, so they can charge me more later for color swaps and number inputs.

=======

I dont support micro payment virtual transfers either.

Exactly.
they withheld funds for the game toward content that they could lock and sell at a later date.
But lets not pretend like they really had to work very hard for that content anyhow.
Color swaps might have taken one dev a few hours to chalk up.
Cody and Guy were created years ago with SF4. heh.

Question bro:

If you’re so against Capcom and their business practices, why even buy the game at all? You’re still indirectly supporting them, just by buying the game period. You’d probably be better off getting KOFXIII or something. Game is great.

So there will be an super sfxtekken update! (for smaller price) which can be purchased via xbl and no new disc versiuon? From where do you have the information?

38 characters out of the box, half of which are 100% new, i.e. the entire tekken side of the roster. To me that’s worth $60, but I don’t know about other people’s finances, maybe $60 breaks the bank for you because you don’t have a job, or are a teen/pre-teen, live with your parents, ect… If those labels apply to you then sure, I get it, the less you have the harder you fight for it. So you want everything in the world for the cheapest possible price.

I don’t have any of those problems and I see the price tag as fair. I don’t play a lot of other games outside of fighting games and I generally spend triple digit hours on all the fighting games I play. The cost-benefit over time is hugely in my favor. For example, $60 by 400 hours comes out to 15 cents an hour. How is that NOT a good investment? By the time the characters come out i’ll have invested that much into the game and probably be ready for MORE content and will get my money’s worth out of that too.

And about the other point, I’m not saying you won’t have fun but you will be playing catch up to the rest of us.

i found this statement funny and ridiculous at the same time, that is a mere excuse to justify why the “dlc” is on the disc, that shit is bullshit and anyone buying that crap has to reevaluate a lot of things imo

wouldnt the right answer be to buy the game and not the dlc? so capcom stops thinking dlc makes money and goes back to making full games? and not that people don’t want fighting games?

Ooo we have a game master here! Please sir inform me of how games are made! Tell me, did it cost little to nothing to make partnerships between Capcom and Namco Japan, and then Capcom and Namco of America? And then Capcom and Namco of Europe? There’s a reason Namco x Capcom never made it out of Japan, partly because of the conflict for US Cap and Nam. Everything costs money to make. Partnerships cost money, putting games out on a console costs money, putting them on a disc costs money, putting them out on the market for DLC costs money.

Also, I don’t remember the price of games going up. Could’ve sworn 5 years ago it was $60. Mmkay maybe 10 years ago it was $50 for ps2 and GCN but it was cheaper back then to make said games…can you show me numbers on this because it sounds like your pulling shit out of your ass just to get more sheep to follow you.

I swear to God consumers get more stupid each day. Yeah obviously Capcom is trying to make money, they’re a fucking business. Are they gouging a bit for the 12 DLC characters.** Emphatically yes**. But why shouldn’t they? Its not their fault you don’t want to pay for it.The ironic part, all of you complaining want the damn game. You want it so bad, so fucking bad. But someone hacked the disc and revealed the characters were on disc. Suddenly its “WE MUST BOYCOTT CAPCOM! WE MUST SHOVE PITCHFORKS UP THEIR ASSES!” Fine I get it, they’re using business practices you don’t like, that’s a respectable opinion. So if you are going to boycott it, do just that. Don’t buy it, but also go away, stop talking about it, stop complaining about it. You’re just giving them free press to the uneducated and people will buy it more or at least research the game wondering what the deal is with this crazy fighting game everyone is bitching about. Go play SFIV or MvC3, those are great games. Hell I’ play with you. They’re a blast to play.

I however will support Capcom and continue to buy their shit and spend another $60 or however much the DLC characters will cost as long as I have fun with their products and get hours of enjoyment. According to my games playtime records, its hundreds if not over 1 thousand hours of enjoyment for me strictly from Capcom fighting games. That’s saying something considering many games I play once through and put em away or give them to my cousin. If their games suck (ala Azura’s Wrath) then I won’t buy it. But I won’t bitch to people about how bad the game is either.

People seem to forget, this is a video game. Since when were video games imperative for your survival that you must chastise them for business practices. If you can’t live without it, buy it and shut the fuck up. If you don’t like it, then don’t buy it. I’m pretty sure you won’t starve without a Street Fighter x Tekken disc to chew on.

i love the capcom whiteknights, seriously

I miss the days when SRK was about leveling each other up and discussing strategies, and pointless drivel like this was relegated to gamefaqs.

R-E-D-B-O-X

That won’t work since it’s still telling Capcom that they can still sell games even if they lock content away for later sale, they still make their money and any DLC that is bought is extra gravy.

The only way to help make a difference is to actually deny them the money they would have got if they hadn’t decided to try and sell a game wiith locked content, simply buying the game and not the DLC just sends out the message that it hasn’t put people off enough to hurt their profits and they’ll still get extra money from the people who do buy the DLC.

or they just think people dont like fighting games anymore and stop making them.

if 60$ breaks your bank then you should be seriously looking at your priorities. With that being said a law would never get passed for something trivial like this, so 100 or 200 people boycott a game it will not change anything you’d have to get a significant portion to boycott it which will never happen.

Yeah, but not gonna happen ‘til EVERYBODY has internet access. It’s currently only about 1/3 (approx) of console gamers worldwide. Plus in the UK there are still loads of ISP’s who have monthly download caps, so that’d ruin Digital Distribution even if all console gamers had Internet access.
So there’s a good few years of traditional retail left yet.
Just sayin’.
