I’m not going through the trouble of sifting through the entire thread/argument, but back to the topic at hand… Yes, I do think the gameplay is severely lacking. It just feels bland. They have “hyped” up all the moves and sounds… so nothing is exciting. Watching pros play this game is about as boring to watch as myself and someone else playing. I think most people are trying to justify it, because … well… it’s a new Street Fighter game. We’re all gonna play it until we get good at it… but I think those singing it’s praises near to step back and take a constructive look at it. Capcom is not perfect… this game is proof of it. A barely finished game with a decent, at best, new mechanic, uncertain move priorities and a bunch of character where no one stands out in any way. I think they could improve on it and win me over, but right now I only play it because no one plays 4 anymore. I’ve talked to a number of people who feel the same way and even some not even giving it a go… waiting for it to become a better game before they jump in. Hopefully a major overhaul of the game comes soon.
HP bolt charge on Laura or even V-Skill if you have good timing, teleporting air SPD on Zangief (I know that EX but still holy shit), wingless airplane on Mika, LP fireball with FANG, and that’s just the special AA that I can think of off the top of my head. Lots of AA options across the cast, easily doable on reaction.
Might be sort of a semantic issue here. A lot of people are claiming the game feels “bland”; this term also alludes to what is SF5’s greatest strength for a lot of us: a return to a footsies-based, gritty, nervy, deeply psychological (read and tempo) experience. That could be described as “bland”, I suppose, but again that’s also why I’m so excited about this game. And I know I’m not alone.
Speaking of attitude you should check yours. The op stated his/her opinion on the CURRENT version of the game. Capcom sold this current version at the full price of 60 dollars so it will be judged by a full games standards. I’d also like to note that there have been several betas | test builds at events | cracked beta versions on pc. All of those have been available for months so this game has been looked through thoroughly. Once the other aspects of the game are added in future updates peoples opinions may or may not change. Whatever though, you’re entitled to your opinion no matter how trash it is.
The mechanics in this game are solid, the games meta hasn’t evolved yet, and I highly doubt you’ve played anyone as good as Diago while offline so quit acting like you’re good.
I quite like the new mechanics. I’m pretty rubbish on fighters even though I love them but this game actually makes it a bit fun even when I lose.
I’m actually able to string 2+ hits in now unlike sfiv where linking 1 hit was an impossible task for me
I think its a joke now, but like every street fighter this is essentially the first beta. There will be four more versions and twenty more characters before we get the real Sf5. It will get better. I agree with you though, because they even stated they want this version to be simplified and friendly to new players, and it is. Not dumb, but just very simple.
Strange the game is so hardcore about really boring footsie fundamental aspects though. Really almost no room to improvise from it I feel. Kind of a weird direction. I am kind of over it already myself. I always found that part of the game more frustrating that fun. Then you add cammy and chun the way they are.
Because people like to play on crack, so the decrease in speed from HF to Super turned a lot of people off
Personally, I really liked the slow pace in Super compared to Turbo 3 in ST. Not to mention that there are some additions to ST like Supers, throw tech and juggles that I’m not too fond of.
too early to talk shit about this game… give it a few years with your 09er shit… fuck you not even an 09er youre a 10er you probably play with a keyboard like a fag
There can be a lot of words to describe this post. At first glance, I thought it was a troll post making fun of the OP, but the tone is sincere and believably honest. I can see this viewpoint being common with players whose first and only fighting game was 4, so this is important. @D_Sledge and to others who feel the same way: welcome to fighting games and welcome to the next level.
Retard teen fanboys like this need to be regularly castrated so we don’t have to deal with their genepool further down the line. What else is he supposed to base his opinion on other than the barebones starter pack version of SFV? There isn’t anything else. Goddamn retard. Base your opinion on what IS, not what will or could be.
Sit down, trash. You and your opinion are nothing.
