Well, that’s good to hear for you. But for me personally and a lot of other people the game has been unplayable online post maintenance. Every time there’s a maintenance period done I can go to the netcode thread here or go on facebook and see many people complaining that they either can’t get matches anymore or that “online was perfect before, but now it’s ridiculously laggy”.
I recall even seeing it happen to Yipes a while back.
Yea I’ve always had to wait a long time for games but since the last maintenance it’s got massively worse. I’ve had one game in the last hour.
Thing is it can’t be based on lack of players in your location. I’m in the same part of the UK as ISDD and watching his stream today he’s getting games every couple of minutes. He’s also diamond rank compared to my ultra silver so in theory he should be having a harder time being matched up with opponents than I am.
According to my stats I’ve had less than 500 games since launch. I should have had a couple thousand matches by now for the amount of time invested.
Again that’s good. But,I feel that people like you are the lucky exceptions. I haven’t had a single good connection since very close to launch.
I have the same problem as far as people in my area go. The closest people I know that play the game live over an hour away from me and they have never ever even once had problems the entire time the game has been out. If we try playing in a lobby together the game always fails to connect us. But I can add people outside my area and be in a lobby with them, but the connection is always terrible. And this is all after the first maintenance they did. The week the game launched I could play all my hour away people just fine without any problems.
In the hour and something since I posted that it’s sped up slightly and I’ve had 3 games, but 2 of them were Americans. Though it’s been slow I was being matched with mostly other Europeans until very recently. For the last week the majority of matches are from the USA, it’s driving me nuts.
This again shows that it isn’t even a region issue but an ISP/client one. Unfortunately this game seems to be the stingiest ever when it comes to your connection quality and you need to spend time opening ports or even change modem/ISP to get a good connection. I can only guess I’m not the only one that has few issues because I get matches every 20-30 seconds in the evening until late night, 95% are lagless and I rarely get the same guy twice.
The best I can say is that the online quality is inconsistent and that it is not always very clear what leads to the different issues.
You people keep saying it’s an ISP issue but ignore the fact connections were fine pre-maintenance and then went to shit post-maintenance. The issue is obviously not ISP related. I don’t understand why this is so hard to grasp for some of you.
Spent an hour on this game again the other night trying to rekindle that fire. Only got matched up with 4 players total in that time (search set for 5 bar connections only), playing 10? or so games in total. In all of that only 3 or 4 rounds were smooth and unlaggy, the last game of the night being a slide-show level of lag from a connection that showed as 5 bars when i hit yes… of course when i see the connection status on the rematch screen the dude is not actually a 5 bar connection at all, he’s a 1 bar connection from fucking china.
that’s about where i stopped. Put the stick down, shut the game down and walked away. IDK what the issue is but no other online game runs so poorly for me and SF5 is just pure dogshit on ps4 for me and my roommate. We have laggy ass connections to people less than 10 miles away type bad.
also one thing to note is that the game always has my location wrong and thinks i’m in fucking florida when i’m in norcal.
It takes me about 10-20 minutes to find a match. In regards to skill level, it’ll be fairly random, except that they don’t put me against rookie level players.
Found out on Wednesday that the four guys I drove to WNF are at platinum. I know I probably shouldn’t set goals for netplay, especially with how sporadic matchmaking can get, but now I’m more motivated to play ranked again (unfortunately :P).
I’m like that too, one of my sparring partners for the past few years who I have always been able to best in long sets, as he gradually moves up he mentions “ah yeah I just hit 6.5k” and then I get back on that grind up to that level, then put it down for another month
