I have disabled Vsync on PC and it played much better in terms of responsiveness to inputs. It is still slower than games i’m use to but the delay reduction is immediately noticeable. Game still has stubby normals, masher combos, and a broken netcode, with a largely homogenized cast. So the characters become even easier to use and more responsive, but all the rest of the games flaws are still as present as ever. The combos just don’t feel rewarding and neither does the gameplay and while less lag is certainly much better the game itself doesn’t then become good. I had Vsync disabled and still uninstalled the game on my PC and absolutely refused to play it offline ever as did other local players here.
Yeah, people in my scene tend to say that my footsies are good. But I don’t pressure enough and I think that’s one of the bigger reasons why I lose. I wish I had heard this earlier, it puts my thinking in this game into a better perspective.
I mean, yes, but I can only agree to a certain extent, due to how powerful jumping is (see Momochi, top 8 Stunfest), how good of a footsie tool dash-ins are, and with the 8f delay making it hard to consistently counter both jumps and dashes.
Clearly, the point of him saying that flew over your head. This is video games. No one’s forcing anyone to do anything.
It was pretty interesting last night how a hot topic among players at WNF last night was, “How long do you think it will take for this game to get stale or die?”
I mean, I believe tech is still developing. I enjoy playing this game. Don’t enjoy watching. I have my issues with this game, as I did with Ultra. But hearing so many tournament players expressing discontentment at this game outside of my own local was kind of a shock.
Tournament players always have concern about their game. You can bet there was similar talk of players getting tired of Ultra, but they were gonna play it any way.
Just need something like Evo to come around so the asians put a fire in people’s asses to git gudder. Getting whooped by asians always gets people hungrier. Worked for 3rd Strike. Boring game until Tokido put Urien walls on Justin and Daigo parried Justin.
Poverty games get stale or die. People will champion SFV worldwide competitively no matter what.
Not necessarily true as the too big to fail arguement was proven wrong with SF x Tekken & SF3 which did hurt the series and did not turn a healthy profit. Sure 3rd Strike did have a late tourny resurgence, based on it’s deep skill based mechanics that a fewer number of players loved, something that SF5 absolutely went out of it’s way to make sure the game was devoid of by stated game design. In reality with an army of new fighters coming out in KOF 14, Tekken 7, Injustice 2 (casual friendly i’m sure), and many more anime games. I would imagine SF5’s player pool will start shrinking up quite a bit in the future. I think the game will last this year and maybe a second if they make some changes, but I don’t think with it’s current netcode and for many the brutally slow match making, with a very dry feeling roster and game play experience, that it will last long when newer games offer casuals and hardcore players more meat on their respective plates. Lets be real if Cacpom had not dumped tons of Sony dollars into the pro tour this game would already be dead because sales were very poor and it’s reputation is quite bad (incomplete, 8f lag, bad netcode, bad match making, jump in based strategy at higher levels, a game for pro players only due to lack of true casual content, horrendously bad user reviews, etc). There is a possibility they can add more to the game in terms of mechanics, options, and content in 2017, but if they don’t I cannot ever imagine the player pool growing any larger as more fully developed, content rich games, keep getting released on the market giving players more & more options in the future. I would honestly like to see this game improve and there is potential they can make the needed changes, but aiming it at casuals hasn’t worked for sales and the casual fan ship has sailed and wont be returning. So will pro players really be able to keep their interest in a game that offers the industries most input lag, worst netcode, least content, and most homogenized game play, only if buckets of money are injected into the pro tour year after year. Will Capcom really be able to keep doing that with decreasing revenue and player numbers though? I honestly don’t see how things look good moving forward without significant changes being made that are aimed at the more intermediate to hardcore players because most casuals have already moved on.
