Anyone else not buying into the SFV hype?

I say that because as a Nash player I have to this point been able to win a lot of matches by switching between playing lame and rushing down - but when it really comes down to play lame and keepaway, Nash has been very strong at forcing other characters to take risks to get in.

That party has ended with Guile who seems to be at a decent advantage in the lame game, and definitely does not need to rush Nash down

That’s just me playing the matchup for 1 hr at locals the other night though so maybe there’s something I’m missing in the matchup

Good honest commitment heavy gameplay LOL

For real though this is nuts

^^ Absolutely ridiculous.

He earned the corner to do that. Plus the guy he was fighting against was ass and gave him no reason to spend bar. He could easily just save super although I suspect Guile will be burning meter a lot as time goes on. He won’t regularly have all that resource and put you in the corner

That Guile was fishing for that jump-in to get that combo. The Necalli player could have easily AA the guy.

Not really impressive since combo’s are easy mode.
That Necalli looks new.

I might be too old for this shit…

I try having fun but its just so…boring. at least this game has a guard bar lol.

the response to Marvel 3 combo length guile stuff is “should have blocked the jump in”?

give me a break

"This game has no combos!“
Guile comes out
"This game has too many combos!”

Honestly, I think the game is way more casual than past versions. Its very easy to do combos similar to how umvc3 was to mvc2. Mvc2 combos has some of the most difficult and meticulous combos in all of fighting games imo. UmvC3 made it a bit easier by simplifying the button layout and combos being easier to access.

But at the end of day whether its casual or not, it’s a good game. It’s Street Fighter. I grew up with the series from birth, and I’m not give up on it because a scrub online can beat me with just normals. So, yes I bought into the hype like I do with every street fighter game, its iconic.

If a scrub can beat you with just normals, then footsies must’ve been good and you need to get better.

Just to play devil’s advocate: I don’t think you can find a SFV character subforum here where someeone doesn’t complain about how their character has stubby normals in one form or another.

Like, didn’t people say Ryu’s stubby normal made him ass during the beginning of the game…

They do from a lot of ranges. I think Ryu is really good but I don’t think he is top tier. More A- or B+.

Calling a version of Ryu with a bleh fireball and short cr.forward top tier is…awkward.

Guiles the only one with fun interesting combos that are fun for veterans though.

Chun Lis pretty intensive with the combos and execution also

It’s doubtful those statements are from the same people. The reason I like combos is for the challenge and 3 frames links are easy so Guile still falls short. The hardest thing I have found in this game is Sim’s instant air flame and it really isn’t all that tough.

It doesn’t matter if it comes from the same people or not. The concept here is that you can’t please everybody.

you think they deliberately put super long Guile combos in the game?

or could it be another case of “we had no idea Guile could be played like this” and a poor balance job

(ding ding ding)

Booms are +1 on block and +8 on hit. Unless they chose those numbers by spinning the wheel of fortune, I would say they knew some pretty nasty stuff was possible.
Anyway, loops are in the game. You can either bitch about it or git gud
