Anyone else not buying into the SFV hype?

Yes there’s nothing more boring than a character that takes giant risks a million times a match by throwing fireballs or doing dragon punches. How could that match the excitement of a fat man doing a lot of dive kicks, or Poison doing the exact same thing, but safer.

And let’s be real, you didn’t see a lot of Rufus players because he was fat and ugly. If that same moveset had been on a chinese youth, people would have been all over that shit.

You know what be hilarious, with all the complaints, bitching and moaning over balance and who top tier
and the Winner at Evo beats everyone with the “Bottom tier” character.

And complaining who or what is broken is just scrub talk.
Put your money where you mouth is and show us what you got or shut up about it.

^ best post in here.

Guess you can’t read since I actually laid down names a while back of bad matchups for ryu.

Also while we’re at it, i find it hilarious people like you sit around whining to defend the game whenever someone has legitimate qualms with the game but never actually have anything to really provide on the pros or data on this game.

Its always “Everybody has a weakness!” or “Oh my God, get good.”, yet these are the same people who typically hound the forum all day, easily get bodied and fail to recognize the point that just because everyone has something punishable, it never dawned on them that some characters are more favored in the game than others.

You try to over generalize or rationalize shit people say instead of taking it face value that someone says “vastly unsafe compared to everything they do” to “OH MY GOD, ALL YOUR NORMALS ARE FREE?”

Posts like this remind me how obvious it is that Donald Trump could become President because of idiotic people who speak before they think.

Yoo how did I miss this comment earier. You’re just going down the douchebag checklist before you reply huh?

That’s not how you use literally.

Definition #4, fam.

Um yeah, it is.

Changing the definition of a word over how often it’s misused is some dumb shit.

Indeed. But that is the very nature of a living language, it has to evolve and change with the times - Even if we are at the nadir of times. Spoken English in 100 years could potentially be unrecognizable because of the speed at which it is evolving.

I made a mistake of posting 5 times in a row. Innocent mistake, imo. I don’t spend a lot of time on here. Whereas in other more mainstream social media, say like Facebook and Reddit, posting 5 times in a row is more of a social norm and not really ban-worthy. The way I was responded to really was uncalled for.

I could have been responded to in a more polite manner, like, “Hey, man, I’m getting notifications on this thread every time you post, so can you just put all your posts together instead of posting separately?”

OR

“Please don’t post 5 times in a row,” which is what Mr. Flowers PMed me.

So if you want to come at me with unnecessary disrespect, put your money where your mouth is.

Anyways, I’m more than an internet tough guy. In my FGC, people pretty much say I’m the dude no one wants to fight. And I’m only about 5 feet tall. If you want to spar with me, I’ll either be at Undisputed or Stronghold. If you want to money match, San Diego got weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly meetups. If you want to meet me at a major, SCR or EVO are the ones I’ll most likely be attending. If you really got a problem, you can come see me. If not, stop it with the keyboard warrior disrespect. That’s all I’m saying.

Really, though? “Cocknose?” “Internet tough guy?” Just because you feel threatened doesn’t mean you should take it as an invitation to e-thug. I didn’t even say like, “I’ll fuck you up, you stupid faggot bitch,” or something like that. Even Logansama told Hamad he was going to punch him in the mouth. I said we could spar. What I said was way less aggressive, man. Stop trippin.

Agreed. I’m actually a bit upset about that. Lol.

You’re right. Watching Daigo pull out OG Ryu at Stunfest against Tokido and Momochi was the most boring thing ever, right? And his consecutive umeshoryus against Gamerbee at Dreamhack? What about Daigo’s FT10s against Infiltration and Xian? Oh yeah, and watching Jyobin was so stale.

Sarcastic remarks aside, I like playing “standard” or “textbook” footsies. I like winning without jumping. That’s what makes the game fun to me. Rufus and Poison having walk speed, even slower than Ryu’s, made them boring for me to play. Not saying they don’t have footsies. It’s just that dive kick characters aren’t fun to me, and neither are the more stationary, zoning type characters.

And while Ryu does fall into the zoning category (kinda, not really, imo), there’s just something appealing about DPing every single jump-in the opponent attempts.

Can you please start posting more often, this is too priceless

This coming from the guy who groundlessly asserts that chains are a better display of skill than links?

There’s just as much dumb shit in this game as 4 , they just made it easier to do. When you have a button that lets you freeze the screen then decide your next action depending on what’s frozen, it takes the shine off it for me a little. The whole draw of fighting games is not just positional advantage, but that I can do something under pressure that you can’t.

Playing horrendous Cammy players that spend half the round trying to v trigger confirm into critical art is really no different than someone buffering Ultra except this time you can’t miss.

Everyone on about " I fucking hate FADC!" Yet this game has that exact mechanic but better…

I admit, I was bought in for the hype a bit early on for SFV… but now that the game has been out for nearly a month, I think the game is garbage. There’s so much janky stuff in this game and the way it’s designed, and some of those design decisions are things from Third Strike and the Street Fighter 4 series that I really dislike.

fun to play, boring to watch

I’m pretty sure people didn’t enjoy Juri using her dive kick even when escaping through the air. Cammy didn’t escape the “brain dead” label and she’s not Asian as of yet.

Anyway hype is restored. I’m interested in seeing how Alex plays in this game.

I was hyped seeing Ryu, Ken, Bison and Charlie in early gameplay footage…but the characters revealed subsequently left me feeling flat and that feeling has just gotten worse. I’m also not a big fan of the aesthetics to be honest…

Haven’t bought the game and not sure I will this year given all the negative responses.

As a guy who started one and a half year ago with IV, I like V way more.

My only problem is with combos in V.

In IV combos were hard to the point where it was crazy but in V they are very easy for 99% of them. I think a balance between both would be best.
