Damn, I just realized, if I get these cards, who the hell am I gonna battle with?
Anyone know a site that will stock this? I know sure as hell Blockbuster in the UK wonāt get this.
Itās blockbuster exclusive =(. But the retail buyer for BB USA is trying to get it out internationally.
Some lucky American will be able to make a tidy profit on eBay if they can buy these things by the boxful from Blockbuster. Come on and help us crazy foreigners out!
Iād be interested if they were priced fair. I donāt want them enough to pay through the nose.
If anyone here does spot them in the UK then post the location here. Iāve asked the same thing on the official boards but I doubāt Iāll get a response.

Iām just curious if these are out. I went to 3 blockbusters and nothing. Is it just an NY thing?
Yup, the official board has people who have them (one guy bought 10 starter packs!).
Theres even a site thats selling them called shuffleAndCut. But annoyingly they donāt ship anything but single cards internatioanlly. Which is uber expensive and pointless
Of course, if youāre in the US its probably really useful.

I saw them yesterday at Blockbuster. I think it was like $12.99 for the starter deck and $3.99 for the booster packs.
so yah, whoās gonna hook up us international buyers?
haha.
eBay has some for $49.99 (current bid).
A bit much for me. Iāll just ask some trustworthy US person I know to see what they can do for me.
i love the art and i will collect the whole thing just for the art/i use to play these sort of games in the past.
i highly doubt this will be successful as much as i want it to be especially when they are limited to only blockbuster. i wouldnāt be surprised in a mere few weeks/months booster boxes will be 10 dollars on clearance.
Thatās not too bad, actually. Shipping will rape you hard, but other than that, thatās a pretty fair price.
All the other ones are pretty riduclous though, like 5 starters for 100 CAD. Forget about it.
Thatās one of the reasons Iām not bidding on that. I canāt be bothered with stupid shipping rates and then possibly customs trying to take some more money. Then thereās the ultimate factā¦I have only enough money to buy 1 starter.
You know, itās a little annoying how these starters are random. Lucky for that auction itās the 5 different ones, but otherwise itās just luck.
Yah, theyāre random, but every box of starters will have 5 different characters in there. Thereās never repeats of characters in a box of starters. Itās just a crapshoot who you get haha.
the game looks very cool, but its doomed to fail if they donāt open it up to the hobby shops to sell at a reasonable priceā¦
I bought a Street Fighter starter deck and a Street Fighter booster pack earlier today. I pulled an Alex deck, which was pretty cool. His effects and special moves are really gross. His style of play definitely feels aggressive, revolving primarily around throws, naturally, however because of the shitty commons that came with the starter, it took me a while to set up a decent attack. I got a ton of attacks that can be followed up with a kick, yet thereās absolutely no kicks in the starter deck. Ridiculous, if you ask me. I did pull off this lucky draw on my friend, though. I block my friendās low attack with Weight Shift, he passes his turn, my turn to attack, I play Sinking Elbow, combo into Kubi-Jime Katagurama, combo into Boomerang Raid, picked up Hyper Bomb from my discard pile due to Boomerang Raidās effect and combo into it, discarding 37 cards from my friendās deck. It was as if I pulled off those nasty 3S Alex combos that you only see in videos.
Overall, Iām very content with Epic Battles. The game play itself is a mesh of concepts from prior trading card games (you can see the influence older Score games like Dragonball Z and Yu-Yu Hakusho has on this game) in a fun and intuitive way. The artwork is stupendous and sometimes even a bit provocative (hence the mature rating). I see a lot of potential for this game, especially in the competitive scene. I canāt wait for the hobby release so that my friends and I can purchase cases and booster draft all night.
edit Forgot to include my brief impression of the game.
I am totally new to the whole card battle games, but I picked up one SF and one MK starter deck yesterday. I donāt think Iāll actually be playing it, but Iām a sucker for collecting anything Street Fighter related. I got a Ryu and a Baraka deck. You get one character card and 51 other cards (5 rare cards and 46 common cards) for the $13.
What I found disappointing is that I only really got 14 cards, the rest were tons of duplicates. I got 4 of the same āhigh blockā, 3 of the same ālow blockā, 4 of the same ādragon elbowā, etc. And of the 5 rare cards, I got 3 Shinkuu Hadokens and 2 Shin Shoryukens. The same was true for the MK deck. I figured there would be duplicates in a starter deck, but I was hoping to get a little more variety.
Is this a common practice with starter decks for other card battle games? For someone who is just collecting it for the artwork and whatnot, youāre probably better off getting booster packs.
I think this is common practice now for most games. They did it this way so you could play straight out of the box with having to supplement the deck with extra cards. Theyāre basically preconstructed decks for people to test out the game to see if they like it. Imagine getting a dudley deck and getting an ass load of random kicks (which dudley canāt use). That would really suck.
Getting 4 staple cards is a blessing not a curse.
