Anybody having problems with PSN version of CAPCOM FIGHTING EVOLUTION?

It is not just for my benefit, this thread is for others who would have similar issues. There are people who get the video right away and there others who you practically have to hold their hand and walk them though the process step by step. Things that should be common knowledge in the FGC and is simple for you or me can easily become complicated for others. You not believe how many times a week I have to explain to people how to change a ball top on their Sanwa JLF or that their Xbox 360 game pad will not work on the Xbox One.

One person requested I started to post a video how to install a ball top? I am like “really, I have to explain how a screw driver works”?

Point is I should not have to make assumptions to find what the context of the video is. I should get the gist of the video right away without replying or guess work.
The Video fine if you know French, but for the bulk of the FGC, the dialog may as well be gibberish. I can tell you now, even with your explanation we still have folks who going to get lost.

fair enough; i can see that the fgc has upset you in the past. it has to me as well (which is why i don’t post often). either way, all that i’m saying is that the explanation is there, if people can’t understand it, that will be their problem. no worries!

Telling people “if you don’t speak french that’s your problem” when it’s the problem for the content creator, isn’t smart.

It’s not a good business strategy to tell people, “If you don’t speak french get fucked” and you’ll find that 99% of the FGC doesn’t speak french, which will quickly isolate you.

Also the setting for 2/2-A is changing the controller to be 2nd player. Literal spoilers incoming (for MGS):

So your assumptions have just made an ass out of you.

Okay were getting derailed here, obviously (to me) the video creator is not here in the thread and tribaL didn’t make the video. tribaL has a “sf IV hori SE” (?) and the video author “Pierre Cortese” owns a Qanba, as it was show in in the video. Pierre Cortese the video maker obviously lived in a french speaking country and other french speaking individuals were is target audience.

Much like if I was making the same video it would all be in English and not French, Japanese, Spanish or what have you.

I also learn from much experience and heart ache here in SRK that you can assume nothing. If something is not 100% clear you need clarification.
Had you understood French and just provided us with even a rough translation that would be fine.

DEZALB has a good point, we need verification that this work-around function on CVS2 and if this *work-around * functions on other PS2 titles.
We also need to see how this “Fix” works with the list of the non-working PCBs we compiled.

I need to stop just facilitating efforts and bite the bullet and get a PSN copy of CVS2 (as well as some other PS2 ports) and try this for myself.
I didn’t have the need to before as I have the game on PS2 and Dreamcast (and own both consoles).

I was thinking about buying cvs2 with the remaining balance on my psn gift card, but chaos code is looking so good right now. I also have cvs2 on ps2 and dc. So I really don’t wanna spend money on somethi.g I already own and doesn’t have online support. Still can’t believe they did darkstalkers online before they did cvs2! But its big in jpn I guess .
I assume ps ports that have online capability get more worked on so they are compatible with more controllers. Cause I can confirm no issues on darkstalkers and guiltygear accent core using inpin and hori t5. Almost bought the sf alpha anthology on psn but got it for $5 at a local comic store in lnib condition.

who’s assumption just made an ass out of them?

if you had actually read what i wrote, i didn’t make the video… i think i even already stated that i don’t speak or even understand french. what i did write is that “my stick had the same problem; i watched the video once, wrote a step-by-step on how i got my stick to work based on watching the video and just watching what the guy does”. you should actually try to do what i did and see if it works for you. if you can’t get it to work using the method that the french guy did, that i explained, i can’t help you.

speaking of your spoilers, you prove how much you haven’t been paying attention. changing the controller setting to 2 / 2-A doesn’t change it from 1st player to 2nd player, it “probably” changes the inputs being read as analog instead of digital. even if you watch the video, you can see the french guy continues playing on the 1P side after he’s already changed the controller setting. besides, why the hell would you play mgs on a stick?

Because even a DS3 has the 1 / 1-A and 2 / 2-A menu prompt when the PS3 is emulating ps/ps2.

Cause only real men play mgs on stick. And it was a reference to using 2p side.
So we have this thread and nobody has checked back to try this method out? What happened to op

If you going to spout “facts” make sure you are correct instead of assuming
learn 2 PlayStation

Actually, changing the controller setting to 2/2-A is still changing the controller to Player Two. 2/2A is emulation of a PS1/PS2 Dual-Shock Controller in the Player 2 controller port.
This is regardless of Analog or Digital Mode.

Here are some photos (taken on my phone) of my TV with my PS3 playing a PS2 game.

Home Menu screen

Controller Setting Screen, take note of the options

It is the Second option down that Changes from Digital to Analog Mode. Its still at 1/1A.

Let me think…

Because he can, because its Tech Talk.
I play with a Stick for Legend of Zelda Link to the Past, Metroid Zero Mission (yeah that is right a GBA game) and Final Fantasy (every damn single one 1 though 12, as well as Tactics)
I am just mad that I can’t play Skyrim with a stick that well.

Which Dark Stalkers, as Dark Stalkers Resurrection is not a PS2 Port/emulation but based off the CPS2 version of the game and is wholly a PS3 title and not subjected to the issues CVS2 has.

man, this site is a waste of time. it’s not even worth going into further explanation on any of this.

either way, i’m playing cvs2 on my stick without any other problems. if you want to as well, do the steps i wrote down and don’t worry about the small shit (like playing nintendo games or mgs on a stick).

It worked for me! I can play my PS2 copy of Street Fighter Alpha Anthology with my PS360+ powered VLX thanks to this thread.

So that it is a yes it works with a PS360+ and a PS2 Disk in a PS3 console?

Cool.

@kaz0001 Thanks for your help Kaz and testing the fix out Kaz.

From what it appears to be (as the PS2 emulation is finicky and the PS2 does not like to use USB controls) it is a Hand-shake issue between the wired stick, the PS3 and the PS2 game.

I’ll definitely have to check this nonsense out when I get home, looking forward to playing CvS2 on a proper stick :v

Spoiler

Sidenote: I play most games on a stick. If it doesn’t need a mouse then it’s a prime target to be played on a stick. Volgar the viking works amazingly well for those who are curious.

Thanks Darksakul and everyone else for the testing and feedback on this!

I’m the same way! Megaman is so much better with a stick! Super Mario Bros.? Why not!!

Bought CvS2 two days ago without knowing about the problem (saw it running fine with TEs on several events before).
Encountered all the above issues. Than I tried connecting my stick via the CronusMax (which would do nothing, since I was allready using a PS3-Stick to begin with). But it solved the problem. Of course this is not a perfect work around. But it at least let’s me play the game with my sticks.

Why are there people making accounts to virally promote the chronusmax?

Also, I tested the DS3 -> change to controller 2 after ps3 boots in ps2 mode then plug in a stick and it worked great.

Lol. I did not create an account for promoting. I googled the problem I had and only found this srk thread. Wanted to give away what worked for me. Paranoid much?

I just tested with PS360+ in PS2 mode with the inpin adapter and it works on CFE and CvS. An inconvenient solution but it works.
