The value is if they are rare. Like retros and only released every 10 years more or less and at a raffle at that. They gain value over time meaning you can re sell for twice or 3 times what you buy them for originally. I don’t plan to resell . Most collectibles tend to be decorative, or have some entertainment value attached to it. I don’t envision collectibles to have a practical use like footwear.

I buy to wear. I only buy shoes I will wear and pretty much never resell any. In the last month I’ve bought 4 pairs of shoes. KD7 Aunt Pearls, Bel Air 5’s, Safari foams and Wolf Grey 5’s. The shoe game is crazy. Some kicks sell for thousands of dollars. It’s like anything collectible, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. There’s a shoe thread in here somewhere.

I’m a huge shoe collector. I wear size 17, the downside to that is that I don’t get general releases most of the time, especially for foams, which were BIG where I’m from (PG County MD - outside DC), the plus side though? I get REAL player exclusives. I get unreleased kicks made specifically for the players muahaha.

My Jordan collection is aging, its full of OG releases (I got OG XVs in white/grey and XIV in the low blue/black that are finally getting retroed this holidays, and can’t forget my chutney XX, I had the OG Bred XIII, then got the first retro, along with the flints from 05).
All in all I’m floating around 60 pairs of kicks, but ever since I bought this house all I’ve been able to scoop have been the BHM LBJ X, the Dwight Nightmare Before Xmas, and a pair of Way of Wade (1s) in patent leather black. Just had a baby girl a few weeks ago too, so until I hit lotto or get a sizable raise…nothing new :sad:
