Any word on ps3 stick support yet?

Again, they should make people buy the new madcats sticks by making them better with more features not by making old ones obsolete. People tend to get new sticks anyways but if i feel like they are forcing me to, it doesn’t make me want to give their support. I’d like a new stick, but not on day 1 necessarily. Let me get SFV, wear my old stick down, then i’ll buy a new one as necessary.

Curious what you would want them to do. The case of the TE2 is already better than the case of the TE1, and it’s easier to customize it too. Not sure about the new PS4 ones, but the Xbox One one I have has LED lights built into the buttons. There is really only so much you can do with a joystick.

Old ones aren’t obsolete either. They work just fine on PS3. Having to buy new peripherals for new consoles is not a new idea or anything, this has been happening since consoles were invented.

yeah but you’re missing the point.
Imagine you’re building a new gaming pc and cant use your old usb mouse and keyboard anymore… why cant I? The USB port is right there… but the motherboard manufacturers build in a hardware chip that doesnt accept any usb devices created before jan/ 2016.

Thats basically what we’re afraid of happening

I would gladly pay $200 but here in the UK they want £200 and in six months they will be selling it at half that price. Also doesn’t seem to be many options for buying it and as I am taking a day of to play the game I am a bit concerned that it won’t arrive on release day. I just invested in a Cronosmax to see if that allows me to at least play on launch day and then sort out a stick later.

Except that’s the PC market, and we’re talking about the console market here. That is an apples to oranges comparison.

And that is a terrible example. Your mouse/keyboard are working at the operating system level, not at the video game level. Back in the day before there was even “plug and play” you had to make sure that your devices had drivers for your OS or you were shit out of luck and they wouldn’t work.

With the PC example, there are perfect examples of this - operating systems and graphics cards. There are graphics cards that flat out can’t run games and you will have to upgrade to play some games if you’re on an old ass card. Same with operating systems. There are people still running WinXP but games and applications won’t work on them. Want to play them? Upgrade.

Some games require X amount of RAM which you may not have. Want to play them? Upgrade.

This is just the way consoles have always been, peripherals (for the most part) never worked across generations. People think just because it’s a USB cable means it should automatically work. Are you guys mad that your DS3 controllers don’t work on your PS4 for all games? I mean they both connect to the consoles wirelessly so they should just work right?

I’m having a feeling Capcom will cop out on the PS3 support. Don’t see why it would take this long to say yes.

Plus, with all of the new peripherals Mad Catz is shelling out for SFV the money is much easier to make if you have to use a PS4 PCB. Just further incentive to buy their products or be forced to mod what you have. There’s a considerable amount of people who would buy those products, that suddenly will close up their wallets as soon as PS3 support is confirmed.

The most likely scenario like said before is that they are just holding out as long as possible to get some people to cave in on their new products before Capcom basically says you don’t have to buy them anymore. At that point they then limit their market to people new to SFV who don’t already have a stick or those that just have money to blow.

If you are planning to play SFV on PS4 you need a PS4 stick. Stop being cheap and buy a new stick or get on PC and use your old one.

Well you should probably switch to PC gaming then. Consoles have always been a closed and strictly controlled platform.

I got one of those Brook 360 to PS4 converters for my 360 TE. Works great. I used it during the last Beta.

I’m not sure if they are tournament legal, but I just use it for home right now anyway.

I’ll get a PS4 stick whenever they are on sale. It’s hard to justify buying a brand new stick when I have this perfectly good stick that’s been reliable for the last 6 years(with the occasional stick/button replacement of course).

Which also goes into the idea that if you plan to go to offline tournaments you better just buy a ps4 stick/controller or mod the one you have. The majority of tourneys especially anything Capcom Cup centric will be on PS4

I think they should just ban ps3 modded sticks for sfv tournaments. Must use unmodded ps4 peripherals. But thats just me.

Yeah, that wouldn’t make any sense to do.

…why?

People use modded sticks and 3rd party peripherals in literally every single tournaments ever

Use one of these.

Will that $80 version work well enough? Like, is it the same parts, just in a less premium format?

The Brook works on all XBox 360, PS3, XBox 1, PS4 and PC. Parts are whatever your existing stick already has.

new troll in town or actually serious? hard to tell…

maybe you should use a catchphrase like: “I agree with YorKey on this.”, you know?

Those are pretty rad. I’ll probably move to one of those eventually. For now I think hacking a fighting commander is probably better bang for the buck, for me at least.

Yup, PS4 is the way to go if you plan on doing any tournament play.

You can always Mod your old stick. Personally I never liked doing that. What if the Mods adds a level of input latency? I just dont trust it.

If the PCB you’re modding with is fine, your mod will be fine.
