Any Volunteers For My Lab Experiments? Albert Wesker's Team Thread

I was using wesker/trish/sentinel for a while but found that trish was too meter-hungry and fragile for my tastes, she was dying a lot and not really pulling her weight. So I switched to magneto/wesker/sentinel and I’ve been having a lot of success. My execution isn’t great on mag’s BnB but I find that this team ends up using meter much more wisely than my first team, and that I always have enough to combo into a hyper when I need to.

DHCs work well between all characters, and having DISRUPTA on the team makes it a lot harder to get zoned out.

Wesker/Zero/Ammy, Seems Like A Pretty Solid Team To me.

For a while I ran Tron/Sent/Morrigan, but I’m considering switching out Morrigan for Wesker. His gun assist works really well with point Tron, as it can be used with j. c and j. s to create high-low mixups. I just need to figure out how to combo otg gun into cr. m without accidentally getting M teleport

Wesker (Samurai Edge)/Thor (Mighty Spark)/Phoenix (TK Overdrive)

This is solid for me as a Phoenix user. Wesker and Thor are good partners for Jean. Wesker builds meter well and takes hits VERY well. His meterless combos do good damage and (more importantly) he sets up resets to keep the pressure going. Maximum Wesker is a weak super anyway so I don’t have to worry about burning hyper meter on anything except his Level 3 (pretty rare for me to do that) or Rhino Charge DHC trick into Thor. Wesker’s Rhino Charge into Thor’s Mighty Punish is good as a rare fake, but WAY better for the DHC trick. Rhino Charge, Might Punish (which whiffs), :h:,:m:Mighty Smash, :d:+:h:,:s:, air :m:,:m:,:h:,:s:, Wesker Samura Edge OTG, into some deadly stuff for Thor. Either for damage or resets for him.

The 3 of them really take advantage of the DHC trick well.
Wesker builds meter for Jean very well.
Wesker and Thor work well together (although Thor’s beam assist isn’t as fast as Doom’s, Iron Man’s, Magneto’s, or Modok’s)
Wesker and Thor take damage very well, thus making more meter for Phoenix.

Alright I’ve pretty much settled on Wesker/Doom for my main team. I need a third, somebody who can burn meter really well. So far I’ve been thinking Dorm or Phoenix could find their way in there, but I’m still ho-hum on them. Any ideas?

What do you guys think of Wesker/Mag/Sent or Wesker/Mag/Wolvie

I’ve seen another player rock the Wesker/Storm combo. Something he did that was really good was to shoot and teleport forward, but cover the teleport with Storm’s whirlwind assist. Pretty good way to get inside.

Wesker/Dorm/Doom is the team I am currently focusing on, and it’s also been the funnest for me. Wesker/Doom/Phoenix could work too, but I have no interest in playing a team that focuses on saving meters for the third character.

If you are really looking for a character to fill the “third” spot on the team order wise, I wouldn’t advise Dormammu. Some claim he makes a “great anchor”, but not really. He’s much better as the second and to a lesser extent on point (but not with this particular team). You could always just slum it up and go Wesker/Doom/Sentinel (OTG assist).

Yeah I know exactly what you mean with regard to phoenix. Teams with phoenix seem to make her the cornerstone, and it seems I would have to as well. I could either just hold on to 5 bars all game and anchor her, or I could try to bring her in with those 5 bars, but that would be both a pain in the ass (especially if I want to get her to dph and switch back) and I wouldn’t really be able to take advantage of x factor dph. Doom is my favorite character and Wesker feels “right” under my fingertips, this plus the fact that they work together really well is why I wanted to focus on them. That’s what makes me hesistant to revolve the team around phoenix. On the other hand, god damn, it is phoenix and she is pretty damn powerful with a hard hitting, meter building duo like Wesker/Doom.

For Dorm, I’d be running him second very likely, I don’t care if Doom is second or third, as long as Wesker is on point with Plasma Beam I’m happy. Wesker just gives a ton of bars but I’d only ever burn them on a level 3 so having a meter burner in second would be ideal. Dorm is great to DHC into and he burns meter really well. With Dorm though, he just feels a little bit clunky to me. If I was running assists like Doom Missiles or Sent Drones I think he would be nice, but as it stands I’d only have Wesker otg and Plasma Beam. They’re not in any sense useless, Dorm with otg hits like a truck and Plasma Beam obviously helps zone, but I find that with these assists people are going to be getting close to me a lot more than if I had something more keepaway focused, and when people get in my grill Dorm feels too slow and clunky. Maybe if I stick it out I’d get more used to him up close and it would feel nicer. He also has another thing going for him, namely that I wouldn’t have to dedicate much lab time to practicing his combos, especially in comparison with Phoenix.

Sentinel is definitely someone I should consider. I told myself I’d never use Sentinel just because I was a hater, but now that he’s nerfed maybe I shouldn’t hate too much. He can burn meter and hit hard, which is great, and drones are godlike.

Using Wesker/Dorm/Doom myself. I do agree that Dorm is a bit clunky. I know it’s suggested that his tri-jump should be used to make him move a bit faster. Or cancel ground dash into normal tri-jump. (kinda like how Doom moves around)

Wesker Dorm and Doom Work pretty well together, Dormammu and Doom… just an example of learning to control your Dash-cancel-tri-jump stuff all over the place
I personally like Dante over Dormammu for some matchups (glares at the Dog and Wolverine)
Wesker and Doom were made for eachother, or more accuratly Doom was made for Wesker in this game (that beam assist sets up all of the crazy mixups Wesker has Air to air and Air to ground)

Dormammu is great at stalling and Burning meter which Doom and Wesker are more than happy to save from normal combos and taking abuse.
Storm does this pretty well too (LoL “random” Hail Storm chip abuse anyone?, plus DHC glitch into Wesker if he’s still alive to practically insta-kill a character with a basic combo) in the stalling-meter burn role.

In that reguard… Wesker Storm Doom is now a reserve team now

U can try hulk/doom/wesker. I use this lineup because gamma crush can dhc into sphere flame and u can always hot swap wesker into point. Doom beam and hulk rocks both help follow up to relaunches after otg. Wesker greatly helps hulk in the relaunch department allowing hulk to continue corner combos as well as combos off his command grab

I’ve been using Dante and Wesker since the game came out, and I’ve switched around the third character a lot. I’m running samurai edge with Wesker and Jam Session with Dante. Can anybody help me to choose a quality 3rd character that will DHC and hopefully have some type of interference assist such as a beam or projectile?

Taskmaster or Iron Man would fit the Bill here pretty well, Iron Man is hard as crap to play IMO
Tasky is extremely solid though I find his arrow assist sort of wonky to use. Dr. Doom is REALLY good in the beam\projectile role but you have to control the corners for his DHC stuff to work (but when it does… look out dead characters rain from the sky)

Honestly, I lean toward Doom, but I think Taskmaster is quite solid in the assist and anchor role

yeah I thought about Ironman earlier on but he did seem pretty difficult to use. I think I’m going to try out Doom. Who do you think would be the best anchor for this team between dante, wesker, and doom?

Either doom or dante anchor well . I’d run doom as the anchor… Dante burns the meter fairly well and can get big damage off of the DHC glitch

I use Wesker/Haggar/Sentinerf’d
Haggar gets people off of Sent, while Sent helps Wesker/Haggar get in.

What do you guys think about Hulk (a)/Haggar (a)/ Wesker (b)? Are the 3 characters mix and help well each other and what do you think of their assist function and about the team order?

So recently I have been rocking Wesker-gunshot/Storm-whirlwind/Doom-Beam and have been enjoying the fruits of tasty dhc’s, dhc glitches, and a full roster of team members with good mobility.

However, i find storms assists to be a bit meh. I mean whirlwind can be a nice ghetto cross up assist for wesker, since it pushes them into him on successful cross up and grounds, and even though i have yet to use it in pratice, seems like giving doom an assist to push the oppenent to the corner so he can really open up with his phd in footdive is a good choice. But she jumps infront of the point when done and still, i got me a beam so i kinda wanted to see what else she has. lightning attach from experience seems crapper then crap, being stuffed 100% by anyone attacking in thr air, and by the time she pulls out typhoon, either shes been hit or we’re fighting on the other side of the screen. anyone got any suggestions for storm assist? or i should i just get me some missiles to go with that whirwind

The strat guide says that whirlwind is a nice assist for helping to stuff projectiles since it’s technically like 5 different projectiles in one and each has a 3 frames of low durability. Basically meaning as long as all the projectiles are active on screen it has even slightly more durability than Doom’s beam. Using both assists especially back to back since you can call storm then doom faster than you can call storm…then storm again gives you a good bit of room to push through projectiles with Wesker. On my team Doom beam is more than enough usually to get Wesker through the firefight in the trenches but having two that you can switch between and use consecutively can’t be bad either.

Wesker is self sufficient at OTGing and is pretty much capable by himself of mixing up opponents so he needs no help there. He just needs someone to keep his teleports safe on block or whiff (after firing gun or just straight teleporting) and Doom and Storm do that for him easily. Right now people still do a lot of dumb stuff like jump around and air dash in the air when Wesker is on screen but once people calm down and find out that if they just sit there in crouch to eliminate his far range mix up you’re going to need those assists to get in safely. Once people start learning the game better bad teleports are going to get you killed and it’s good to have an assist to keep them safer.

Definitely make sure Magneto goes first on both of those teams. Wesker is too good to have in the front. Mainly because he has the most health on the team and at high level play characters with big health are going to be the first characters people are going to try to one hit kill with DHC glitch or any type of high damage combo. Even if Wesker doesn’t immediately die you dont want Wesker running into a couple bad situations early then you’re forced to raw tag him out to save his importance and risk Magneto taking damage instead or having to burn meter to safely get Mag in. If you put Wesker first he’s in a spot where all of the pixie types that can start up glitch like Magneto and X23 will be looking to one shot him because they know Wesker is capable of easily running through teams on a good run. Even without that characters like She Hulk starting first can do like 100 percent mix ups basically and you dont want Wesker losing to that stuff fast early IMO.

With Mag first you have a way to start up DHC glitch and are in a spot where you have a character that already has low health any way so if he dies to DHC glitch or standard DHC combo…oh well them’s the breaks. At least it wasn’t Wesker and since they blew two meters you’ll likely be able to get Wesker healthy and ready to go while they most likely burnt meter trying to kill off your team eating Magneto.
