Any Suikoden Fans?

If anything, I would say that the Trinity Sight system allows the chance to go even deeper into character development; otherwise, why even have it, if all you’re going to do is repeat a bunch of scenes over and over? Suiko 3 flubs it because the writing is bad, plain and simple.

I’m a huge fan of the Suikoden series, especially the 2nd title.
To be honest i don’t like the other Suikoden titles after the first two games.
I haven’t tried Tactics yet, so i think i’ll have to look it up on ebay or so.

I still favour Suikoden II above all the square classics and such.

Yeah I’m a Suikoden fan. Love II. Recently played Tierkreis though, and it is sooooooo bad.

But I heard Tierkreis is a really good game for the DS itself if it were to be separated from the Suiko series.

I’m playing through Suikoden II =P

haha I beat it once… got to kill a certain friend of mine >: )

If Suikoden Tierkreis is considered a good RPG compared to other DS games, that should be a statement of how awful DS RPGs are in general. Here’s a review I wrote for the game:

http://gamerlimit.com/2009/04/gamer-limit-review-suikoden-tierkreis/

Suikoden II was the first time I took a JRPG, seriously. It was one of the greatest games of all time for me.

Good memories with Suikoden I. It was the first RPG I’ve played.

Well I can’t speak from either end since 1) I’ve already played too many Suikoden games not to compare it and 2) I’ve not played very many RPGs on the DS aside from the just-okay FF remakes. At best I can say that it feels like a very generic RPG that sacrificed a lot of fun factor for something that wasn’t worth it.

im playing the ds one currently never played any other ones i like the game to be honest the way the character turns out to be a leader in a huge army and try to take the huge power with all these character you recruit all who have there own back story is awesome so bleh my 2 cents i woulda voted for the ds one jus cause i never played the others xD

I once owned suikoden I & II. I let my friend borrow them and never got them pack. I think he sold them for cocaine. Asshole. I also let him borrow xenogears and FFIX. Never got those back either.

tears

I also lost my first copy of Xenogears by lending it to a pothead…

My best friend “stole” my copy when we were 15, but it wasn’t anything serious. He just wanted to borrow it so it was a practical joke. He gave it back eventually, and all is well.

Suikoden 2.

I think Suikoden 3, although it has problems, is underrated. Suikoden 5 was a pleasant surprise. No comment on Suikoden 4…

I haven’t played Tactics or Tierkris yet.

I rented Suikoden 1 from Blockbuster when it first came out, thinking it was a fighting game with 108 characters. I was obviously wrong, but I ended up loving it, and bought a copy once my 3 days were up. Still have my original copy too. I actually own everything in the series expect 4, which I haven’t even played but I really have no desire to.

4 wasn’t too bad once you get the slash rune. But with the main flaw of 4 was something that they really couldn’t have done anything about. Ya gotta fight and level up somehow.

You know, Suikoden 4 wasn’t even a bad game; Suikoden 3 was a bad game. Suikoden 4 doesn’t do anything poorly…it’s just absolutely, completely bland. Suikoden 4 is like eating Mexican food made by white people. It’s not disgusting, but good fucking grief. If you’ve had the real thing, there’s no comparison - not even close.

Always have enjoyed the Suikoden series. Everytime a game is mentioned to
be in development or one that is coming to the states, I’m eager for it more
than any other game.

Suikoden 1 - Loved it. Great story, characters, good gameplay, you name it.
Even though it’s old it’s still fun as hell to play.

Suikoden 2 - Take everything from the first game, make it about 5 times better,
and you have Suikoden 2. The pinnacle of the series and one that has yet to
be reached by it’s later games.

Suikoden 3 - And here comes the downward slope of suck. The combat system
tanked (seriously Konami, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.), the characters weren’t bad
but the main villain sucked (Luc? Seriously?) and one star villain of the series,
(Yuber) looked freakin’ AWFUL in his black derby and suit. The story wasn’t all that
great either, far from terrible mind you but not nearly as engaging as the first two.
Did not like the Trinity System, I want a SINGLE decisive story, not a multiple
alternate take one, I’ll leave that to Chrono Trigger thank you very much.

Suikoden 4 - One word : Boring. Make that two, FUCKING boring. The story was
awful, the villains equally were (especially Troy), and dear god the character
designs…alright, I can understand Suikoden 1 not having that many good ones,
but I forgive it due to the time it was made and it had a certain "classic, fable"
like look to it. Two and Three had fantastic character designs. Now what the
flying fuck happened in this game I just don’t know. They fixed the battle system
from 3, but limiting me to 4 people = Not cool.

Suikoden Tactics - Rather than go into a long rant, I’ll just sum this game up to
fail. Utter pathetic fail.

Suikoden 5 - Finally, a step back into the right direction. Great character designs
(especially the Prince, the best designed main character yet), a damn good
story that is equally as dramatic and engaging as Suikoden 2’s, and a very good
battle system. I will however, chastise this game for being utterly brutal and
unforgiving in the recruitment of the 108 Stars, something that the previous
games weren’t. Yeah there were some characters you had to be careful about,
but seriously, in 5 too many characters are required to get other characters, and
if you mess up, you’re essentially fucked. Not cool Konami.

Suikoden Tierkeris - Although I would have preferred another installment into
the mian storyline, for a sidetory/alternate telling, the game isn’t BAD…just
too easy. The story itself isn’t really all that dramatic, but far from being as
boring as SIV was. The combat system is alright…I do however like the being
able to equip characters with multiple weapons. The voice-acting is terrible…
but it could’ve been a little better. Especially for some characters.

If it’s a choice between this and another tactics style Suikoden, I’ll take this
anyday.

Adam Warlock got me a legit copy of Suikoden 2 for SRK secret Santa this year:wonder:
The one game I’ve been trying since grade 10 (7 years ago).

He’s the best
