I heard gay people are beasts in fighting games
Well, I believe, as far as we take it everything pre 04 was amazing. 04 and on just sucked balls. Here’s some stuff that some of you might not know:
- Southern Hills Golf Land (RIP)
- Whoever placed top 3 was only comended, now it’s whoever places top 8 or 16 which is just toal balls
- APEX: How ranbats got started (This needs to come back)
- Evo was still arcade based
- Good comp in your local arcade no matter what time you went
- Rumors that Ricky Ortiz was gay and people wondering how someone like him could be top in the fighting game scene (epic)
- SRK used to let you have HUGE AVs and you could only post an AV after you had your first 100 posts
- Ponder and Inkblot posted way more on SRK
- The fighting game scene was still growing
That’s all I can think of for now but hopefully more people can shed some light. Hopefully the fighting game scene starts growing once again since all these new fighters are coming about.

What kept SRK more alive was the arcade scene back then, I never imagined I would have to travel for over an hour just to get to play my favorite game because back in the day it was literally on every block (laundromats, pizza places, pool halls, etc). Also, we had a lot of new hype fighters (MvC2, XvS, MvS, CvS, CvS2, 3S, MvC, MvC2). All these new fighters are coming out (TvC, BB, SF4, STHD), but I think the US economy is holding them back, causing many players to just buy the game for a console instead of spending money to travel and play the arcades.
My question was more of a joke, but I’m glad you limited most of your list to things that were pertinent to the tourney and fighting game community 5-8 years ago. Not some pointless rant about how 2007-08 members are gay and stupid. Granted, I seldom play fighting games anymore and have been exclusive to GD since late 2003 but still.
That was a rumor?! I was unaware anyone would question his gayness. He would show up in fucking low-cut jeans exposing the whale-tail on his pink thongs, all the while he’d be mashing with a fucking fuchsia set of colored nails.
It’s like saying Clay Aiken was rumored gay. Anyone that wasn’t totally fucking oblivious knew right off the bat.
