I’ve been using cr. hp or b+mp, and it hasn’t been working too well. What do you guys use…
And against moves like Bison’s head stomp; do you backdash, command dash, or slide?

both moves you mentioned are great AA, (ex-)kazegiri needs the right spacing and timing to work properly.
i use command dash to get out of ex-stomp and “be ready” and the neckbreaker to get out of corners depending on the character i play against.
against bison i just focus the stomp and (if possible) punish his follow-up. this depends again on the player you’re up against.
back+mp is gdlk imo.
Should have just posted this in the Q and A thread.
Any ways b+MP is a solid AA. Not fool proof but it works. Use your movement to get around jump ins. If you’re just trying to physically anti air everything with Ibuki you’re not thinking like an Ibuki player. You’re thinking like a typical shoto warrior. df+MK slide is great for sliding under a lot of jumping attacks and punishing with a throw or combo when they land. Like Dictator can NEVER EVER headstomp u if you have ultra 2. If he goes for a headstomp immediately df+MK slide and then mash ultra when he lands behind you. Gets pwned. You can also just walk away or under his headstomp or backdash away from it as long as you’re not knocked down. Use your command dashes to get out of the way of jump ins and re position yourself for more kunai zoning. Air throw is also a solid anti air.
like deviljin says. movement is your best anti air, with ibuki you should always be moving and if you are always moving you can always see a jump and use her air grab. her air grab is my best AA
I’ve had a lot of success with s.rh too. it works a lot like chun’s s.rh though not as godlike.
Against bison if you see him go for a stomp the easiest thing to do is to just walk back and punish. The stomp doesn’t track at all so it’ll aim for where you were instead of where you are.
the command or even regular dash are both great for repositioning and then punishing. devil’s reverse can be air thrown when not active (in fact bison hates anyone with an air throw in general since it seems to outprioritize a lot of moves. just don’t do it when he has ultra. EVER). when active you can probably neckbreaker the landing since there’s a few frames of recovery. i’d have to test that to confirm but I’m pretty sure it works (and it’s why akuma can raging demon the landing).
You should be more worried about DKP pressure than anything else.
If anyone does a sloppy neutral jump close to you or is jumping over your head at close range, an early close standing HK works wonders.
Trade or not, you can always juggle if it hits.
Wait, wait, wait … Ibuki has an air grab?
I’ve heard that from like every other person I’ve played against since the game came out. LOL. I used to get it in 3rd Strike all the time too.
So … she does? How have I never seen it? I’ve been playing exclusively with her, and if you’re not pulling my chain, that would be awesome to add to the arsenal.
My apologies for a double post. Just looked it up … holy shit, I had no idea. Fun times tonight!
I’ve been maining Ibuki in tournaments for 4 years (one of the only people in the US to do so). I’m not pulling your chain. LOL. It really helps her anti air game cuz it allows u to get rid of things from the air that have weird hit boxes like Rufus’ j.HK and Dictator head stomp.
anti air kick is good on wake up sometimes because of how vertical it goes, so it can beat a lot of shit in the right situations. You can’t just throw it out, but it’s nice in reactionary situations, especially involving wakeup.
I have to say i just noticed she has an air grab as well >_>. Wow, i don’t think i ever used it yet. (Although it’s only been like a week). And you say it beats Rufus’ J,HK and the head stomp? Oh shi- I’ll have to remember that she has an air throw LOL
Ibuki’s air grab is very effective from what I’ve seen so far! Definitely recommend it. =p
having played chun for a year and a half, i thibnk ibukis airthrow is better… or maybe ibuki just gets higher quicker than chun… dont really know but the airgrab is my most used AA… its really good imho… just underneath vegas’ from what it seems.

Man, I’v been playing with Ibuki ever since I purchased the game on launch, been reading through my SSF4 strategy guild on numerous occasions and even checked out fellow Ibuki players on youtube. This is the first time hearing Ibuki has an air grab! I had to re-read my strategy guild to confirm and there it was like it just magically appeared. Can’t believe I missed that. If I had known she had that perhaps I wouldn’t of lost so many ranked matches online. This changes everything.
I failed to see his name on it.
st.HK air juggles are fun; HK kazegiri after does the most damage. You can do HK -> HK -> Kazegiri, but it actually does less damage because of combo scaling :looney: You can also do HK -> cr.HP and then jump cancel straight into a mixup.
