Anime style Fighters: Heaven or Hell?

you all should really just play Akatsuki

it’s the Hellsing fighting game

I meant adding MALE characters. But whatev…

I’m sure not EVERYONE has heard of EFZ. My post covers all basis.

…and Arcana looks good and has that loli appeal. Shit kills all other animuz fightass.

It looks like its impossible to find quality matches in Youtube. Either they don’t exist, or they are buried in low-level netplay matches. Maybe Nico Nico Douga?

Akane and Mio matches are indeed fun to watch. Though a Misaki win over a good Shiori or Mayu is always good on my book =)

… ironically, Arcana Heart is the one game whose character design I cannot digest at all. It goes way beyond my threshold of tackiness.

There are quite a few people who blame me for this actually. Neverminding the fact that 1 person cant build a community by himself - I think I’m just a easy scapegoat when this topic comes up (why arcana, and not (insert game here?)

Well, thing is, people do go by name value, and you are a big name on SRK. Think of the people who never touched online until GGPO and still won’t touch nfba/2df - they trust the Cannons, plain and simple.

Hell, Melty Blood never really took off until Arlieth discovered it.

I mean, that isn’t the entire reason, obviously. Arcana takes quite a bit of what makes Guilty Gear fun, adds in some unique features, and (probably most importantly) is an easier game to learn. I’m just saying that you are most certainly a factor.

I tip my hat to you for this, btw. It’s great to see an old-schooler willing to put in effort for underappreciated games that deserve it!

Dude, ionno about that. Shiori and Misaki are probably head-to-head(if the other dude is dumb enough to play close range shiori), but Mayu? I mean, both share the same style(RSTD) but mayu has to be the superior one. she has faster jab, THAT DOGGONE neutral C, that fukken roll pattern variations, Misaki can’t do d,dx2 vs Mayu’s wall dive, and three good command throws for no damn reason(four in red life), and it’s hard to deal with throwers with misaki-we got pretty much only got qcb+A/B/C or low jab vs throws, and her anti-air super/lvl3 hidden super catches misaki’s air-to-ground super on the way back unless misaki reverse sided it, which is a dumb way to do it in corner. I think Misaki has the hardest time vs mayu(and unknown).

After watching and reading a ton of Tenjou Tenge…I also want a Tenjou Tenge fighter…complete with a level 3 Bob Makihara “Kore wa…Kemono Gaaa!!” black censor bar, full screen pelvic thrust super that causes all characters to go into hitshtun for 4 seconds, lose ALL super meter, and shiver in fear.

On the note, even though it’s not quite “anime style,” but more western cartoonish looking, try out Capoella Fighter 3. It’s a beautifully animated game in High Definition, and it’s fast. Best of all it’s old school style. I think it’s 20 bucks direct download, and they have free trial edition somewhere.

i seriously lol’ed!

EFZ… for a while I wondered what EFZ was. I heard great things about it. I read the EFZ thread on DL.

And then I saw the game… Sorry to be ignorant but EFZ looks like Arcana Heart for kids. I like a good solid FG as much as the next guy but the overall appearance of game fails to capture my interest. I have never played it before and would at least like to play it before just passing on it since I’m the kind of guy that has to play a game before reaching a final decision.

Akatsuki was one game at first glance I thought was greatly boring. Then I downloaded the demo and now I’m a fan of the game.

Gameplaywise, EFZ looks solid. I’m just not a fan of big headed, bugged eyed lolis. They look friggin creepy. EFZ doesn’t look like it sucks either.

EDIT: Dammit… After watching some matches I wanna play EFZ. Creepy bug eyed lolis and all.

Everyone should be playing blitzkampf…seriously.

This thread fails on so many levels. Sad part is, it comes up every now and then. No discredit to r3ko’s post.

efz has cool combos

heres footage of my favorite efz tournament too

How does EFZ differ fundamentally from Melty? I seemed to like EFZ better from limited experience, but I"d like to know why.

First of all, I can’t argue for which game is the best here. I see that as an opinion. With that said though, I can argue what would be different for each of these games, and even defend that EFZ is not the worst of the bunch.

It’s different in the sense that Melty is more focused about positioning and guess where they’ll reset/tech. EFZ focuses more on multiple meter management and adopting to different, constantly changing playstyle. 7+ blood square ikumi or ikumi with blood pool burrowed becomes so much different than regular Ikumi, for instance. Weaponless nanase is much different than weapon nanase. All that can happen in matter of seconds, allowing the game to be very dynamic and players can ditch and adopt to several different playstyles for each characters from the getgo in EFZ. In MB ciel is always a ciel. Arc is always Arc. The dynamic natures of the two games is not even on the comparable level here. Believe it or not MB is given a lot more freedom when it comes to attack patterns, i.e. different jump variations(jump > airdash > airjump is not a possible midair pattern in EFZ with the exception of two characters), and more importantly reverse beat allows melty to be far more rushdown oriented than EFZ. Characters’ momentum and gravity are lots more important factor to consider in MB. On EFZ though, near everyone has a low evasion/counter move, high evasion/counter move and since there is no tech getup, wake game becomes much more in depth than “guess which side they’ll tech” of MB. It’s got a lot of good things of og fighters, in a combo-heavy setting.

Arcana Heart is obviously good or else it wouldn’t have so many followers. Shit, I got the game myself. I almost don’t want to look fault on that game, but just to prove that EFZ is no way a “AH for Kids”, AH tacks on way too many useless moves, one of which is walking. OG fighter style mid-rage poke wars don’t happen in AH nearly as many times as EFZ because it’s more important for both players of AH to look for a combo opener, instead of say, poke xx trap prep or move powerup in EFZ.

like a demo for the PC? is so where?

edit: never mind, i thought you meant the game from your avatar.

Dammit man! I just sent you a PM with the link to Blitzkamph demo…

holy fuck you people have to play akatsuki blitzkampf

and yeah, i still can’t figure out why people ever jumped ship onto Arcana so bloody quickly (if you even bother to think about it it doesn’t make ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNY fucking sense whatsoever), but who gives a fuck at this point

Chibi…your avatar is fucking creepy.=/
