The story for what little direction it had did drop off. I do like the new series Eden Zero, but it is also pretty much popcorn at the moment, albeit with moments of messed up grim hitting every once in a while.
Even that is giving it too much credit

Fire Force started ok, then went off the rails and I lost interest super hard. Characters were pretty damn forgettable too imo.

I watched the anime and it tones down the fanservice that was present in the manga. The subtle stuff like panty outlines and camel toes are gone.
