I don’t know if you missed it but originally his above post just said “what” and nothing else. It was the most “NPC” reaction I’d ever seen lol
All I know is that a small but vocal portion of Shield Heroes audience seemed to have latched onto it because of the controversy. It is a good show from the few episodes I have seen just hasn’t done much but use the rape allegation and obvious bias of the ruling class against him to show why he is hated despite being one of their summoned OP heroes that is supposed to save the world.
I mean frankly Deathmarch to Parallel World, which at least doesn’t take itself as seriously, and other anime or Manga feature slavery as well but the spotlight people are chasing to defend or curse this program when it is average as fuck for its genre. But hey it looks pretty.
The people who condemn the slavery clearly never watched it. It clear the he only got a slave because he had no other choice. No one is gonna line up and party with a rapist.
If nothing else, I think the Alita movie will get people to read the manga/watch the anime cause it was pretty entertaining and the setting is great. I’ve already been curious about it too but just never got around to even starting it, so having seen the movie I’m definitely going to start reading it.

Read the Shield Hero LN last year. The anime has no choice but to be better than that shit.
That is what I mean the controversy is hyping it for those that either want to defend it or those that want to destroy it. Yet the anime at its core is by the numbers fantasy bullshit but without the fun of some others. I know the story gets darker at spots but if judged on its merits this is shallow, which is fine that is what you are looking for but stop trying to act like it is something more.
Goblin Slayer turned out to be pretty decent. The initial shock value scene was over the top, but really it’s just there to establish the setting.
It doesn’t go on the must recommend to friends list, but I enjoyed my time watching it.
