Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Yeah, I’m kind of wondering why they decided to put such a crucial scene at the end of the credits for AoT. Not sure how they would even end up fitting that into the beginning of a 2nd season. Makes me doubt one will even exist, and that was kind of a “haha look at that eh? wtf right? Read the manga, plebs” kind of thing.

SnK final episode
This is a cruel way to end a series. Only getting a hint of Annie’s possible motivation for her Titan rampage and encasing herself in crystal. I can’t wait until next fall to know why.
SnK was ok I guess. Eh, more like pretty good. Stayed away from reading the manga while watching, but will probably start reading it now.

Tosh’s art is great, but It’s kinda rare that eromanga artists come up with good stories if they branch out into regular manga. The artist “Maybe” made Tasogare Otome X Amnesia, and some people like it. Other than that, there’s not much.

They should take work that plays to their strengths. Highschool of the Dead comes to mind, with Inazuma as the artist (and is not in charge of the story). Worked out pretty well I think.

Just one image without spoiling.

Annie doing dat Muay Thai, made me wanna make her mai waifu.

Kinda reminded me of Adon or King from KOF

Hope you enjoyed the end of SnK 25, ladies! Please stay after the credits for special goodies! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

lol, who ever thinks there won’t be a second season of Titan is kidding themselves. I’d place this shit on FMA status if not bigger, based on the way it’s heading.

First mistake the guy makes is by saying the chances of a second season are solely dependent on how dominating disc sales for Kyojin will be. Disc sales ain’t the only revenue stream that matters and it most certainly isn’t a #1 or bust type thing when it comes to second seasons (otherwise you’d be getting sequels as often as the next fucken record breaking series come around. I.E every once in a blue moon which is not true at all. Guy’s a dumbass). Merchandising, and sales boost for the original source material are just as equally important (this isn’t even accounting for a series popularity, and potential marketing exposure outside of Japan either). Hell, Chihaya-furu and Space Bros (despite having their DVD/BD volumes sell like shit) both got extra seasons thanks to the massive amount of extra exposure and sales boost it gave to the manga.

Dude needs to understand that for most cases, anime series are a glorified commercial to help sell and push other products with that series name on it. Cross-promotion is the name of the game when it comes to the anime industry. Just look at where most anime come from (adaptions) and the amount of tie-ins there are (character CD’s, figurines, games, side story novels, etc) and it should be obvious. This is where Production Committees come into play, these are big ass companies and corporations (guys like Pony Canyon and Kondansha to name the obvious in Titan’s case) who put up funds to make said anime and other material in hopes of getting a return on investment. Money does not all solely come from Production I.G or the animation studios alone like the guy seems to believe. Hell, most animation studios, apart from the major ones hardly have the capital to fund shit on their own (just look at the poverty ass working conditions animators are subjected to). Production I.G could be on the committee themselves, sure, but there are other players at stake to help foot the bill here and they aren’t always looking at how well the anime is solely doing on it’s own, but rather at the whole franchise itself.

Second thing is that just because there hasn’t been an announcement yet doesn’t mean shit. Comments like “we would like to continue the anime”, mean exactly that. They want to make more, but won’t announce anything yet, because er… maybe there isn’t anything to announce and that they’re still working on it? Has it even occurred that not even the production committee themselves know what’s next on the horizon? What makes him think they’ll able to tell you something that even they don’t know yet? Especially when it hasn’t even been a day since the original run ended. People always be like “fuck, why havn’t they made a sequel to X series?!” but don’t realise that a shit ton of effort, time and planning actually goes into making anime. Then there’s always the flip side that they just flat out don’t want to tell you yet. Because it’ll fuck up their whole timing and marketing strategy that they’ve prepared. Plus there have been instances were official comments were proven to be full of shit anyway, some being contradicted within just mere days. “We have no plans to make whatever, whatever”. A few days later “Hey, look! We’re making more whatever, whatever!”

Finally before I devote any more time and effort into responding to all that dumb shit (fuck, not like I havn’t already sunk enough into it already.), he finishes off by saying that I.G aren’t really that big on sequels and then conveniently ignores the Blood series, Patlabor series, CyBorg009, Bungako Shoujo, Eden of the East, Prince of Tennis, Kimi ni Todoke, Kuroko’s Basketball, Rin no Laganne and Psycho-Pass. That’s 10 I’ve counted with some of those having multiple sequels. Hardly a “few series” at all that’s so called being claimed.

Wut did I just watch lmao

Attack on Titan

Tiem to read the manga, what chapter does this correspond to exactly?

My take on the best anime this season and the latest/last episode
Purely an amazing episode. Attack on Titan as a whole is filled with SO MANY themes that it’s incredible. The first thing I really noticed and liked was how the anime gave us little hints on Annie’s backstory while in titan form and I’m NOT talking about the flashbacks she was having. The earliest and most noticeable was when she noticed that she killed wall worshippers and started running toward open areas. This TELLS us that there’s something up with the wall worshippers and the titans. The flashbacks were good as well, and the fight scene was GOD DAMN BRUTAL. JESUS CHRIST marie it’s titans.

The second good thing I noticed was the crazy ass and disturbing story about the miner. What the hell is going on? I loved everything about it and where the story is going.

Thirdly, the “berserker” fire Eren was pretty legit. Before people start complaining how it’s random plot armor, you should notice one of the best themes in AoT. Humans are constantly struggling with maintaing their own survival by dwindling their own numbers. How far is humanity going to go to survive? Fire is the same. Once humans got the ability to tame fire, it was one of our biggest assets and biggest threat. Eren’s personality matches that of fire, and his monologue on his feelings during the fight was crazy good and gave crazy insight. The fight was so god damn brutal, and I had to rewind the part where Eren burns Annie’s face off about 4 times since it was so godlike.

Fourth, MIKASA PUTTING IN WORK. FALL SON FALL.

Fifth, Appearantly some people are whining that certain things in the anime aren’t in the manga and vice-versa. I would like to point out that an anime and a manga are two COMPLETELY different mediums, and you should look at them as such. So far as an Anime-only watcher, I personally couldn’t tell what was filler and what wasn’t- and to add; the things that I learned WERE filler, were still pretty damn great and gave great insight and character development. So far Attack on Titan is one of the animes with the BEST filler content out there, and shows how far creative license and creativity can go for a show. Though they are both the same Show- the manga and the anime are different mediums and should be treated as such.

Don’t say an episode of attack on titan or a specific part of attack on titan is bad just because it wasn’t in the manga. Have a LEGITIMATE reason why it’s bad.

FINALLY, HORY SHIET THE REVEAL HORYSHIET HORY SHIER HORY SHIUET. The reveal was so god damn well done post credits. It’s obvious why they did it there and not in the part of the show. Obviously, AoT is immensly popular, but has an immense budget, so (pure assumption) no one knows whether it was going to get another season or not BECAUSE of that large budget. By adding it at the end, they can “finalize” the show, and add a little cliffhanger/ alternate ending/creative license at the end to pique interest and still look at another season. They did it very well without completely Banking on a second season.

that being said, TO THE MANGA!

upto episode 3 on the second season of Shakugan no Shana

Spoiler

Not sure what it is, I usually hate this kind of anime but for some reason I just keep watching it, seeing Shana develop as a character and seeing the love circle grow (poor sakai gotta choose between them all lol). I guess it’s the likable characters that keep me coming back. I’m not exactly in love with it but it’s something to watch.

Tbh the filler between aot manga and anime isn’t really all that big.people just looking for something to whine about, especially when both have been pretty consistent with each other

their bitching about a couple of very minor things, things that could easily, easily, EASILY be fixed if there is a season 2

what anime is this

I can’t say I’m crazy about the changes made in the anime though I guess they had to position themselves into a place where they could bide their time until there’s enough mange to do a 2nd season or if they had to end it here, they’re are a kinda tidy spot.
