seeing as I’ve watched all the Higurashi stuff that has come out (even Kira), I had to watch Outbreak.
[details=Spoiler]wtf is this shit (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I don’t mind the virus outbreak plotline and I like post-apocalyptic stories, but it’s such a downer, and knowing full well all the shit the characters in this anime have gone through, it’s pretty depressing to have them go through it again. Only on a global scale.
But it ends with a cliffhanger. It’s a different ending than the short story by Ryukishi, and it’ll probably be quite a while before a new OVA comes out (speculation is that there won’t be another, but I don’t know). I don’t get buttflustered by cliffhangers often but this just left me feeling empty.

So I just finished watching Oreimo and can someone who is familiar with either the manga or light novels AND the anime confirm or deny this for me: the ending to the anime is significantly different than the ending(s?) of the light novel or manga, yes?
Haruto got caught up like a dumb fuck, but we already know who is gonna get the D…sigh. I feel like im watching a mix of Suzuka and Rumbling Hearts, I really hate that its obvious he is gonna choose Yuzuki in the end…
Some people do. The majority of people who actually buy anime do. That’s why it’s so stifling right now. There are constant attempts to create marketable anime that doesn’t pander to otaku. Problem is that non-otaku/fujoshi don’t buy much anime. Also, these are Japanese works for Japanese eyes. The majority of Japan’s cultural exports were created specifically for Japanese people but sent out anyway. They really have no obligation to cater to us, no matter what Keiji Inafune says. I can see why you would take umbrage from this whole moe 4 girls thing, but Japan(and not just otaku) have a big appreciation for cute things. I’ve seen people react like this several times. When an Arcana Heart gets announced and the trailer is posted on the front page, people act like it was made for them; it should suit their tastes. Thanks to the internet, Japanese culture has become prominent to the point that people in the west are getting annoyed that they aren’t conforming to the normalcy of western media culture.
So, you are culture shocked and antagonizing those who have adapted(or being antagonized by them?). I’m trying to be impartial.
It doesn’t take an expert to know Japan fucking loves cute things. The evidence is everywhere. I mean, the country has a god damn cute looking mascot thing for THEIR POLICE FORCE. Pretty much anything that can be turned cute, they will do it.
Yes, no matter how much shit I can talk about you guys in the end it doesn’t make a difference because YOU guys don’t matter, since you are not there in the market supporting anime that isn’t moe shit. It’s just fucked up that so many shows are geared toward a single fucking niche. I can cry all day about it but it is what it is, just don’t come in here telling people to fucking like it or that they are wrong for liking how things used to be. It just makes you look like a major asshole.
I kinda understand the position you want to take in this situation. I take up that role on another forum actually. If you really wanna convince people of your point, avoid the “need to be the asshole”. You can make your point without insulting the other in the process. It doesn’t matter how much better it makes you feel. That sort of attitude is detrimental to your purpose. You’re free to continue if you can acknowledge the possible outcomes from it, but just be wary that it’s not the only way to handle it.
