Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Whats that guys name?

Anime hasn’t gotten worse its just that we only remember the good ones…I’ve been looking for good anime since I went through all the good ones and all I get is moe shit about highschool girls or magic powers.

What if I told you there’s shitty manga everywhere too?

“Same bullshit saying nothing.”

That sounds like every argument made by everyone that thinks whatever anime age they grew up with is better than current age anime. It’s an endless cycle.

Yeah because anime has been around for centuries right stfu. Dude said one thing and your pussy started to bleed at the idea of anyone telling you what you already know. Moe is shit, grown men watching that is fucking creepy, and liking lolis makes you a fucking pedo, all three of these statements are fact. Get the fuck over it and ignore it if makes your asshole leak so damn much.

Sometimes, just sometimes, common sense is right. You really should think about that. :3

Uchoten Kazoku - 12

Spoiler
[]Yashiro pauses on a bridge and recalls Kaisei’s words about the situation regarding the other Shimogamo family members. His gaze then finds a bottle of Electric Brandy that got lodged in his jacket pocket after his spill in the warehouse. The words of Kinkaku about Yajiro’s situation resound in Yashiro’s head, causing him to likely seek out the remaining brother.
[
]At the well, Yashiro tells Yajiro about what has happened, but Yajiro doesn’t feel like he can be of much assistance, due to his situation. However, Yashiro has an idea and begins to pour the Electric Brandy into the well and to a waiting Yajiro down below, who gulps up the drink. Suddenly, Yajiro reacts with a new-found energy and purpose.
[]Elsewhere, as Kinkaku taunts Yasaburo about Yaichiro’s fate, something occurs and Ginkaku is unable to resume his form of the space that was used to ensnare Yasaburo. The Ebisugawa brothers suddenly find themselves inside of a railway car. Yasaburo is also inside and rescued by Yashiro and finds out that a drunken(?) Yajiro is the railway car. After Yasaburo gets some revenge on the Ebisugawa brothers and locks them up in the cage that he had recently occupied in tanuki form, he finds the Fujin Raijin folding fan amidst the discarded iron underwear.
[
]Yajiro continues his free-ride journey through the town and shopping districts, until Yasaburo utters a particular statement, “What is fun is good.” The statement causes Yajiro to stop for a moment as he recalls the statement as the last words of Soichiro. Yajiro then continues on his way with a resolve akin to the tanuki’s drive as a result of their ‘idiot blood.’
[]The Shimogamo trio suddenly finds themselves in a trap of sorts when the Ebisugawa brothers manage to call out to their supporters to create a ‘false street’ that will send everyone into the cold river below, where even the Ebisugawa brothers don’t mind their fate, just as long as the Shimogamo trio is stopped. The Ebisugawa brothers think they have the last laugh… until Yashiro reveals a hidden cauldron that is powered by alcohol, transforming the railway car into a ‘flying’ version that avoids the plunge into the river via hovering. While in mid-air, Yasaburo spots where the Friday Fellows are having their year-end party. Kinkaku tries to appeal to Yasaburo for mercy, but his cries aren’t heard as Yasaburo drops the Ebisugawa brothers into the cold water below. However, as they manage to hold on at the last moment, Yasaburo mentions that he had spotted the Friday Fellows’ gathering nearby, causing the Ebisugawa brothers to choose to fall down into the cold river below instead, rather than suffer a hot pot fate at the hands of the Friday Fellows.
[
]Yasaburo decides to use the Fujin Raijin folding fan to move Yajiro over to where the Friday Fellows’ event is taking place, but what is supposed to be a small gust of wind turns out to be a rather large gust instead that causes Yajiro to literally ‘crash’ the party. After the crash, Yasaburo sends Yashiro to Sensuiro with the Fujin Raijin folding fan to delay the Nise-emon proceedings and to give back the fan to Akadama afterwards, who should also be present there. Yasaburo manages to locate Yaichiro, who is feeling a bit down about what has happened to him, but Yasaburo cheers him up, besides telling him about what Soun did to their father, Soichiro, as Yajiro reappears in frog-form.
[]A plan of action is formulated as Yasaburo plans to rescue Mother, while Yaichiro and Yajiro go to to Sensuiro for the Nise-emon proceedings. However, Yasaburo is stopped by Jurojin who wonders why he is there, though Benten doesn’t appear to let on to Yasaburo’s identity. As the other members of the Friday Fellows wonder what has happened, Jurojin mentions another tanuki that could be used for hot pot stuffs instead - Mother - the news shocking/surprising Yasaburo. Jurojin also suggests a change in venue and mentions a reservation at Sensuiro, which was a backup plan of sorts. Yasaburo asks to join the Friday Fellows in their ‘tradition’, with Benten not objecting to the matter, and Jurojin asking Yasaburo for run an errand to bring some Electric Brandy cases to Sensuiro.
[
]At Sensuiro, Soun tries to discredit Yaichiro’s absence in the Nise-emon proceedings. Yashiro arrives outside the meeting room and ‘interrupts’ the session with some help from the Fujin Raijin folding fan. The ruckus is enough to summon Akadama from the neighboring room, who ends up causing a bit of a scene, in regards to the appearance that he had to make at the Nise-emon proceedings. Yaichiro appears and thanks Yashiro for his help before going/entering into the meeting room proper. Inside, Yaichiro talks about the situation that befell him and formally accuses Soun for his actions, who downplays his position that is in question. Yajiro appears and is about to offer his POV on the events, which surprises Soun. Meanwhile, the room next door (opposite Akadama’s room), is being occupied by the members of the Friday Fellows. Yasaburo arrives at Sensuiro, shortly afterwards.

 • Yajiro’s conflict resolution, via Electric Brandy stuffs, was interesting? Considering alcohol was the reason he thought he was responsible for Soichiro’s death, it was a bit convenient that alcohol would also be the remedy. I think that if Yajiro had (formally) learned that his father’s death wasn’t his fault, the ‘revival’ scene would’ve been a bit more meaningful moment.
 • It was kinda fun seeing the railway car stuffs again, mainly as a sort of bonding experience for the Shimogamo brothers that were present. The railway car sequence is something you’d expect to see in a Ghibli film, or something, especially the ‘flying’ parts, via the alcohol-powered cauldron and Fujin Raijin folding fan.
 • lol @ Yasaburo’s off-screen revenge scene against Kinkaku and Ginkaku.
 • Benten with the most interesting facial expressions: That smile she had when she saw Yasaburo outside in the ‘flying’ railway car and when she was sticking her tongue out at Yasaburo when he was talking to Jurojin, particularly stood out.
 • Jurojin seems to be an interesting character for having only appeared recently.
 • Those two scenes with the Fujin Raijin folding fan’s display of wind power, were a sight to behold.
 • WTFLOL @ Akadama’s appearance/entrance at the Nise-emon proceedings. Too good.
 • The stage is set at Sensuiro: Akadama (with folding fan) in one room, the Nise-emon proceedings next door, and the Friday Fellows occupying a room next to the previous.

It wouldn’t be a problem if people just realize, accept and admit their own personal bias (taste/preference) and didn’t mix that with objective reasoning or comparisons, and gained a better understanding of the current culture of anime where it originates from, because that is likely the leading influence of the industry’s direction. I don’t think current anime is tailored towards western residents (for the most part) anyway. I got into a small argument about taste and I ended up reassessing my mentality and perspective not too long ago.

Anyhow, did you Stella C3 Club watchers finish the show yet? What did you think of it?

Spoiler

I felt all that drama they built up between eps 10 and a 11 went to waste. I can’t say I was expecting something huge to go down, but I was hoping it would keep up the level of intensity til the end.

isnt there one more episode?

Says 13 episodes, but judging but what they showed, it looks like they’ve concluded the story. 13 may just be some random humour episode.

It’s like you say that there are a lot of these moe shows and niggas are like THEY have always been around, but no they haven’t…instead the argument somehow gets changed to but ALL ERAS HAD SHIT SHOWS, but nigga I didn’t even say that the shows were shit, just that oh gee, there are LOT of them in comparison to other types of shows being made. It’s an EXTREMELY obvious trend that has left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths because lets be honest, those shows ARE shit lol. Fucking girls mostly dont even give a shit about them and their so called drama or stories are not even there. Same face, same personalities, just rehashing the same flavor of shit with a different candy coating.

Nothing wrong with portraying young people in shows and having moe qualities but fuck when that is all the show has going for it and it’s to the point of being fetishistic it just becomes laughable. That is until it keeps coming at you, then it becomes almost menacing. You start to realize that you are being deprived opportunities for better work because money and time is being spent on something that is nothing more than someones idea of porn…

The final episode of The World God Only Knows was so well done. This is one of those rare cases where the anime stays faithful to the source material and actually improves upon it by taking full advantage of the medium. It’s up there as one of my favorite series in a long time.

I also watched the new Higurashi OVA Outbreak. Is this an adaptation of some alternate route in the game? Seems pretty decent. Loved that song they played in the ending credits.

Outbreak is out? I gotta get in on that shit.

yea I enjoyed Goddesses Arc alot. The ending was well done unlike High School DxD last episode, everything felt so forced and cliche

and dat Kimi no Iru Machi ep11, nigga done fucked up, lmao!!! cant wait till next week.
I was extremely disappointed with the ep12 too. Yura forgiveness shouldn’t have come so easy. I wanted to see the others gave her the riot act and Sona admitting her failure as a mentor before all the happy shit when down.[/details]

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I can’t even tell what’s being spoiled, if anything.

Come on that shit is about as much as a spoiler as saying that someone is going to shoot a gun in an episode of Black Lagoon.

After owning it on bluray for around a year, I finally got around to watching Redline.
It was pretty good. Story was flimsy, but enough to hold up the wacky racing. At least there were tits.

Kiniro Mosaic was wonderful.

After thinking about it for a while, I don’t think I really liked Watamote, it is the kind of show I enjoyed watching, but in retrospect, wasn’t that good. I think the main problem is that Kuroki is not a strong enough character to carry the show. The desolation of her social life isn’t the problem, it is the desolation of her emotional life. There is a real impoverishment in her ability to see the world. Normally, she would be a side character in a harem anime, along with say, 3 other “silly” characters (IE, mad scientist, loli, oddball hobbyist) and maybe 3, serious choices (You know, childhood friend, tsundere class rep, lovey dovey ojou sama). She would get one, maybe one and a half episodes to extrapolate her character.
Given all the episodes, you don’t REALLY know that much about her. She doesn’t really have any redeeming qualities. She isn’t kind, or compassionate or intelligent, or even very self aware. She just kind of…is. For a gag/side character, that would be fine, but she is supposed to be the driving force behind the story. It is essentially the same joke, over and over again, and she fails to learn her lesson, it is impossible to feel sorry for her.
You can make the argument she is a cute stand in for the people watching the show, or some parody of the people who do, but its just insulting. It is practically blackface. That level of social ineptitude is borderline mental handicap.
She just isn’t an interesting person, a character like Haruhi Suzumiya, while a bad person, at least has this depth of imagination, and strength of character that is worth your attention. Hell, I could ignore all of her faults if it was a cute anime…but its not…its just…kind of nothing. Really, this show could have been one of those 5 minute mini-shows.

It’s pointing out your flaws in a way that you can understand, except making the character the fat loser that YOU are they made it a loli in order to trick you into liking the show, because they know desperate losers will watch anything with a female lead character even if it BLATANTLY disrespects them. Which of course is why I love Watamote.
