Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi - 12 (END)
Spoiler
[list]
[]Dee meets with Ai and tells her that she will tell Alis about everything: about the reason for the temporal loop and the fact that she is dead. Besides asking Ai to be with her when she talks to Alis, Dee tells her that the meeting with him is to take place at the outdoor basketball court. Later, Ai arrives at the meeting location and sees that Alis is already there. Alis says that he is wondering why Dee wants to talk to him and though he tries to glean some info from Ai, Ai responds saying it’s something that Dee should tell him, herself.
[]Dee enters the homeroom of Class 3-4 and kills a male student and though the other students are shocked to see the event take place, they are more shocked (and surprised) to see him revive and as if nothing had happened at all. It is then that Dee reveals her objective: To have the members of Class 3-4 remember the memory of the events that happened on July 28.
[]A short while later, the other Class 3-4 members recalls and remembers the events of the fateful day, particularly the parameters of the wish they had made together. Through Dee’s influence, the closed world begins to react to the ‘contradiction’ as the other Class 3-4 members reenact the events of July 28, with Dee hoping to reset the world, and herself. Alis and Ai notice hints of change/alteration taking place, and Alis rushes off knowing full well that Dee intends to ‘reset’ the world, with Ai following closely behind him as they both hurry to the classroom. Elsewhere, Yuri and Scar also note the effect of the world reset that is taking place, via an encroaching fog.
[]Dee recalls the fourteen years of memories with Alis as she stares out of a classroom window and thinks about a certain ‘fate’ that will end things. However, the vision she has of the result of the fatal fall, isn’t of herself - it is of Alis, instead. As Dee falls out of the window, Alis arrives in time and attempts to rescue her, but he also starts to fall out of the window, as well, with Dee realizing what is going to happen to Alis. Ai and the other Class 3-4 members manage to rescue both Dee and Alis from falling, the result of which causes the fog to reverse it’s advancement.
[]Ai apparently had figured out that Alis had died trying to save Dee, with Alis remembering/recalling the events of that day. Though Dee rallies for another ‘reset’ in light of recent developments regarding Alis, Alis quells the notion, saying that he wouldn’t want the memories of everything that happened with Dee and the others to just disappear, and instead live on in their memories as they return/go to the outside world. Dee and the other Class 3-4 members break down in tears at what Alis had said. However, as Ai proposes that there has to be way for Alis to be able to come with them, Dee says that it’s useless to think that way because of the way that Alis acts for himself and for others.
[]The time to go back to the outside world has arrived and the doorway into the classroom has changed. One by one, the other Class 3-4 members say their goodbyes to Alis and enter the doorway/portal. Elsewhere, the town’s denizens also begin to leave the closed world as other doorway portals open up. Yuri, Scar, and Celica, also depart and take note of the closed world as it begins to disappear.
[]After Dee says goodbye to Alis and departs, only Ai is left. Alis tells Ai about her role as an observer and that her leaving/departure would put an end to everything. Ai responds that Alis is a horrible person for having brought her into the closed world, only to make him disappear. Though Ai tries to appeal to Alis in wanting to live on like the others, Alis is resigned to his fate; even saying that he has a grave in the outside world, where his body resides after having been buried by a Gravekeeper, fourteen years ago. Ai makes one final plea to save Alis and after she gives Alis a tearful hug, Alis says goodbye to Ai and sends her through the doorway as the closed world finally disappears.
[]In Ostia, everyone that was inside the closed world has made it outside safely.
[*]Elsewhere, at a graveyard, Ai is standing in front of Alis’ gravestone. Alis is standing next to Ai and wondering why she had saved him, as Ai looks at him and smiles.

- So many questions…
- Which was a more painful feeling: the memory recall or the reenactment of the fateful day
- The window was pretty symbolic: lots of things went out of it by the end of this arc, lol.
- So, Dee wasn’t really dead… but Alis was?
- The farewell and ending scenes made me think about the end of Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, in which similar ‘moments’ occurred.
final thoughts:

Kaminai had some things going for it: Picturesque backgrounds/scenery that often showcased various locales and areas, with some standouts being grave stuffs, Ortus, and even the closed world of Ostia. The soundtrack was quite good in a number of scenes, particularly the incorporation of the ED theme into the last moments/scene of an episode. The topic of morality, in regard to the perceptions of life and death, was also interesting.
Though story stuffs felt limited, things were self-contained in the limited-episode arcs of the series, making it seem like a mini-series at times, albeit some pacing issues. I thought the Hampnie arc was a good start, the Ortus arc was interesting, as was the Class 3-4 arc, until the very end. The Goran Academy arc and The Birthplace of the Gravekeepers felt like filler stuffs. I think there was more focus on the stories of each arc as some chars appeared and Ai was left as an ‘observer’ who watched the events unfold and had some interactions that challenged her POV (Ortus arc), though in other places, her role was limited as other chars took center stage.
Kaminai was sometimes an interesting experience to watch, despite some problems here-and-there.
I’d probably welcome a second season if more of the world and it’s ideals were explored, but what are the chances of that happening, considering how things came to be over the course of the first season?
