Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

HOw do you get that feeling at all?

It’s trash, did you not watch the latest episode? Watch episode 7 and then you’ll understand. Bunch of cowards.

At least we have this:

I did, I don’t see what you’re getting at at all.

The dumb as shit annoying main character made me drop Gatchaman Crowds.

Are you a girl? Just curious.

Real heroes don’t let shit like that happen to their nakama.

it felt like a waste of time, it pretty much had this pointless build up to something that could have been done in the last 2 minutes of the tv series if they wanted to.

No I’m not

And I guess the episode I saw was mislabled, I think we’re talking about different eps, gonna download another episode 7 and see what going on. Hoefully it’s not as bad as you say, I’ve been liking the show.

Manga Spoilers for SnK:

Spoiler

Chapters 21-25 will be the most badass Mikasa Episodes. Trust me. She will get insane.

Also Chapter 20 was good, they did the perfect cuts on when to start and when to end, like the manga.

So no HxH this week…and maybe no Watamote i guess until later this week?

Mirai Nikki OVA was very underwhelming. The payoff for what it was trying to do just wasn’t worth the amount of time that we had to wait for it. If it had came out, say a little after the end of the series when it still fairly fresh, I probably would’ve felt otherwise. I didn’t want to say anything at first so I could see what you all really thought about it lol

Fate/Kaleid #7
1st half of the episode would’ve busted Kromo’s nut from sheer service overload. 2nd half just shat on everything Illya’s been trying to do throughout the whole series, so much for that friendship lol
Looks like Berserker is last one left now.

I keep watching Gatchaman Crowds because I want to know if there will be some pay off with the main character. I do like the main villain mostly because the voice actor does an awesome job trolling the main characters.

I want to see people’s reaction to the next episode of SnK. Shit’s going to get real in the next few episodes. I think there might be one thing that could potentially bother me next episode but I don’t want to go any further due to manga related spoilers.

Watched the Fafner movie over the weekend and thought it was pretty good, especially for a continuation of the tv series. It was kind of difficult trying to remember what happened in the tv series considering how long it’s been but managed to remember the key points in the last 2 episodes and the oav. There was a few pacing issues and a couple of questions as the movie didn’t really have an after math so not sure what happened to some characters. Pretty glad there will be a full 26 episode season later this year but also leaves me kind of worried for the characters because fafner has no qualms about killing characters.

oh shit, what? didnt know Fafner was getting a new series, cool shit. i get to see more of Hishashi Hirai’s artwork that i love so much.

[]Yajiro recalls his past from the time before he became a frog, citing that he was known in Kyoto as the tanuki with the least motivation, unless it involved drinking.
[
]The “important appointment” of Soichiro’s, was a secret consultation with Yajiro, who was dealing with a troublesome problem: having affection for Kaisei, who was betrothed to his younger brother, Yasaburo. Yajiro decides to put some distance between himself and the family, but Soichiro talks him out of it and offers to help out in some form, besides stating his thoughts about family bonds. After some indulgent drinking, the duo partakes in a game of a traveling railway through the neighborhoods and somewhat causing a mild ruckus: Soichiro as the passenger and Yajiro as the ‘transportation.’ That night was the last time the duo partook in the game.
[]Soichiro doesn’t return for two nights. On the second night, the Shimogamo’s learn about Soichiro’s fate at the hands of the Friday Fellows. Yajiro takes the news hard as he feels directly responsible for what happened, prompting him to leave his life as a tanuki and his family behind, ending up as a frog that resides in a well.
[
]Having remembered Akadama’s situation, Yasaburo offers to see to him while Yaichiro goes home. On the way back to the Professor’s house, the topic of Kaisei comes up, who apparently has gifted Akadama with a new coat, besides visits, when Yasaburo was off in Osaka.
[]After Yasaburo recalls a past memory of a moment between himself and his father, the topic then shifts to Soichiro and Akadama offers his thoughts on meeting one’s end in life, highlighting the end for tanuki (hot pot) and an end for tengu (loss of flight/falling from the sky). Akadama then tells Yasaburo that Yajiro wasn’t the last person to see Soichiro - He was. Akadama encounters Soichiro’s ‘passing’, where the two talk like friends for one last time, before Soichiro asks Akadama to look after Yasaburo, who seemingly takes after his father.
[
]After having seen Akadama back to his home, Yasaburo returns to his and is greeted by Mother, who is informed on the events of the evening, and of the past, as well. ‘Understanding’ is a theme of the conversation here as Mother understands why Yajiro is holed up in a well, as does Yaichiro.
[*]Yasaburo offers his thoughts on Soichiro’s passing and of his bloodline traits passed down to the brothers: Yaichiro inherited only his sense of responsibility, Yajiro inherited only his easy-going personality, Yashiro inherited only his innocence, and Yasaburo inherited only his idiocy. The bonds that hold the brothers together are that of Mother’s love for them, and of the parting of their great father.
• Didn’t expect Yajiro’s problem to be that.
 • The ‘game’ seems to be a pretty fun activity.
 • There’s Akadama for the break in mood.
 • lol @ the triple take in regards to oppai by Akadama, Yasaburo, and the carriage doll.
 • Akadama putting one’s end in perspective with his own experience was interesting moment of sympathy shown by him.
 • Departures do bring people together.

Next week’s episode appears to feature Kaisei, so things should be quite interesting.

[]Alis spends some time shooting a basketball around. Surprisingly enough, every shot that he takes goes into the basketball hoop.
[
]The group of students hold a meeting in the clock tower to discuss who will escape from the academy. Most of them are plan to leave/escape, but Tanya and Mimi/Meme are reluctant to follow the others due to family-related situations in the outside world. When Ai gives a small speech about dreams, Tanya is affected by Ai’s ‘presence’, which causes her to leave the meeting.
[]Ai later meets up with Tanya and the two of them talk about their past-lives outside of the academy. Elsewhere, Alis and Dee have a brief convo about Ai.
[
]When the group meets up again, it appears that the time to leave has been set. Everyone at the meeing, including Mimi/Meme (and Momo), are all in agreement about leaving, except for Tanya, who isn’t present and is unsure in her position/stance. Ai asks the others to postpone the departure for a day so that she can have another chance to talk to Tanya. Her request is granted. Later that night, Ai somewhat gets her chance to talk to Tanya, who remains silent, and tells her of the departure time.
[]The next day in the clock tower, Alis is recalling a memory of a past event, before Ai appears and interrupts the moment. When Ai speaks about having some doubt about her dream to save the world, Alis responds by saying he also wants to save the world - through it’s destruction. Alis explains his POV on the subject, illustrating a concept of there being ‘two’ worlds, along with examples: one world that is ‘objective’, and one world that is ‘subjective’.
[
]The time for the group to leave arrives, and as the group (sans Tanya) starts making their way through the underground escape path, Ai says that she’ll stay behind and make her escape later - with Tanya. Tanya suddenly appears, having decided to also escape from the academy, as well.
[]As the group emerges outside the academy walls, Magiita appears from the gate entryway and tells the group to return inside, but they refuse the offer. Magitta draws a revolver and fires off a volley of shots… but they are all nullified by Alis, who draws a firearm and responds with gunfire of his own. After Magiita makes a remark about Alis’ ability (perfect aim), she withdraws into the academy as the gates close behind her. A man’s voice is then heard, calling out to Ai. Yuri has arrived at the academy with the van.
[
]While Ai, Yuri, and the group from the academy is traveling, Ai asks Yuri about Scar, who isn’t present. Yuri replies and says that he had left her behind…
• What is Run doing during the meeting?
 • Alis’ memory of that past event likely has some significant meaning.
 • The ‘two’ world concept is interesting.
 • So that’s Alis’ ability: perfect aim. He also has a nickname as well.
 • I wonder what happened during Ai’s absence from her group, which apparently caused Yuri to leave Scar behind.

Next episode of Monogatari should be very interesting to say the least.

Does anyone know where i can find an english sub of Taichi chasers?

Its a guilty pleasure of mine, but i really like the show. 4kids stopped translating it and no one seems interested in dubbing it.

I don’t even think you’re watching the same show as us. It’s been fine so far. Only character that really annoys me is Pai-Pai.

1st chapter of the Negima sequel UQ Holder is out. Mangastream doesn’t know how to scanlate Akamatsu mangas. You have to upload them wallpaper size so you can read those small ass words.

Also, Index NT8 is out and translated chapters are being uploaded to baka-tsuki gradually.

Thought UQ was a decent first chapter. Feels more battle manga style but it’s only one chapter so who knows.

Biorg Trinity has also started to get translated. This is Oh!Great’s new manga and the art does not disappoint. Though the storytelling looks like it just decided to start at ridiculous.

What are you expecting it to be instead of a battle manga?

Stopped watching that shit after the second episode. I was extremely disappointed when the characters, trapped inside a virtual reality with their real lives constantly in extreme peril, began acting like a-typical Anime characters instead of actual people. Threw out any chances of psychological intrigue and semi-mature themes I considered the series would have. I shut it off promptly when the fodder started getting salty that brotag was a BETA Tester. Ugh.

And, because I feel it needs to be stated again, it’d be great if you guys could give Nanatsu no Taizai some love. It’s relatively new, but it’s pretty damn amazing and is definitely a gem worthy of checking out. And the protag is a baws.
