Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Watamote #8
This girl is just so fraudulent she can’t help from getting herself exposed all the time, lmao. Big laughs at them playing Magic and doing her heart of the cards topdeck bullshit too. Probably one of the better episodes so far in the series.

Same shit happened to me. The fucking series was throwing shit at my face without me even realizing. A fairly strong premise ruined in favor of making another retarded ass harem with the most generic female anime characters you could think up. The main character being an OP mary sue was also a nice touch. Waste of time

Man, I like the S.A.V.E label. Birdy the Mighty Decode for 20 bucks? Count me in. Although I was a little saddened when I saw it was “Birdy the Mighty: Decode” I always thought of her as a “mighty decode”

Fantasista Dolls is great. It and Kiniro Mosaic are battling neck and neck for 2nd place this season. I mean, in terms of lesbianism, they are pretty close, although different kinds. Kiniro has the obvious Shino/Alice pairing, but its really all about the Aya/Youka pairing. They are the true lesbians. Shino Alice is just a Japnophile and a…blondophile? in close proximity. Fantasista has daily baths and the super hot “bishoujos devoted to their female master” relationships.
Decisions decisions.

True, I was dying the entire episode, so good.

I find this series strangely appealing. Also if you’re going to start lying to someone it’s go big or go home, right? Don’t fess up just keep digging.

Finally got around to finishing "My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute"
Kind of a nothing ending if you ask me. Actually, I’d say it was the worst of all worlds.

[details=Spoiler]He basically chose to forsake his relationships with various attractive girls, jeopardize his future and ruin his reputation for a short, platonic affair with his sister. Like, if you didn’t actually want to fuck her, you probably could have improved your relationship with her in any number of ways without making yourself look like a sister fucker. In a way, it is a rather large waste of EVERYBODY’S time, including the viewer. How many speeches and outbursts about you loving each other and not caring what society thinks did we have to sit through? It is the cowardice, that is true failure of the anime. Had you simply had the bravery to say “This is my sister, I love her and no matter how disgusting it is, these are my indelible feelings” it would be remarkable in its commitment to the message. Instead you chose the path of conformity, as ultimately fitting in was more important than your, as we now know, temporary and lukewarm feelings. You had the gall to pretend you were more than a generic harem anime, yet lacked the maturity to be anything more.

other thoughts:

  • Manami/Kirino fight was awesome
  • Ayase was the best
  • There was a whole bunch of characters I didn’t remember or care about.
  • I don’t really remember when the (major) plot point of her ACTUALLY liking him came to be. It just, kind of happened.
  • Since most romance stories tend to end when the couple finally gets together, I would have liked this one to have a special spin off series that shows their future where they stayed together. Basically leading stressful double lives and lying to everyone they know, but still making sick, but passionate love to each other. It would be grim dark and would have to do with stuff like Kirino having to get an abortion and stuff, Kyo getting fired when and old classmate outs him as a sister fucker, etc etc.

I used the search function before I posted anything about this… But, omg. I am super hyped for this. Cowboy Bebop. Samurai Champloo. Kids on the Slope. Now this? Can’t waittttt.

Watamote is getting so embarrassing to watch. It’s painful to see Tomoko getting exposed in the worse possible way. It shocks me she hasn’t tried to lynch herself yet.

Its too much. Pretty much the worst possible thing that could happen to her always happens, of course she is a terrible person so she kind of deserves it.

Its like a documentary of Kromo before the glamour days

I don’t think she’s a terrible person. She goes about doing what she wants in the wrong way.

Watamote is kind of like the office where you eventually grow numb to the cringe worthy things. Its honestly kind of tame and just…sad after a little while.

Your comparison is off. Tomoko is not a true otaku. The entire crux of the show is that she wants to be liked by people, she just lacks the most rudimentary of social skills. Her backstory of playing a lot of otome games is simply a plot device. When you are committed to 2D, you feel nothing for other people, as you are entirely satisfied in ways 3D cannot reasonably achieve. Real people simply cannot give you the instant gratification you have come to rely on. Its a zen thing. Tomoko’s attachment to the corporeal is what holds her down.

Tomoko is not a terrible person, she is a terrible…citizen. Inherently, she just wants to be loved and accepted for who she is, she wants friends. That is not ignoble, it is the fact she is so ill equipped to get either of those things that makes her such a failure as a member of society. If she had proper socialization, ie, capable of carrying a simple conversation, a rudimentary understanding of social norms and some basic hygiene skills, she would be fine. A quirky, and perhaps off beat fujioshi, but not doomed to a life of solitude and bitterness. I can only assume her parents were negligent and the school system failed in teaching her how to exist in a group.

Just wikipedia’d the plot.

looks hilariously embarassing. One of those shows where you feel embarassed for the main character. Time to watch

3 minutes in and I love it

That’s the whole point of the show. It is cringe comedy at it’s finest. I remember reading the manga and just face palming every chapter, barely able to read on it was so cringe worthy, and the anime captures it perfectly, if not better. That’s what makes it so good.

And yeah, Tomoko isn’t a horrible person, she’s just a complete social reject in every aspect possible.

My sides. Watamote Episode 2

Friend orders a Mocha Frappachino

“FELLAPPUTIO? IS SHE TRYING TO MAKE A DIRTY JOKE?”

Gonna have to watch Watamote…quick question is the manga better?

I would actually say they are pretty equal, I would almost give the nod to the anime as tomoko’s voice is hilarious and you can really feel the awkwardness when she talks to people.

We’ve all been waiting for this.

Just watched ep8 of Monogatari. Not only did I get my dose of blonde, braids and glasses, I’m met with one jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Might not be able to sleep well tonight. Holy shit.

The music is the best thing from that shitty show. Need to find this on Toshokan
