Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

what is your guy’s opinions on Burutabu chan

I agree 100%

I should have specified Strikers rather than the entire Nanoha series as a whole. And you’re right, the proper term isn’t magical girls anymore. It’s mecha musume now.

@kromo: I never said I didn’t like it.

Berserk movie 2 was pretty boss.

Next movie is when rape begins.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha #3

Spoiler

This episode mostly (re)introduces the female knight turned nun; whom seems to be giving the hero an earful due to his disappearance, potatoes being uses as Maou’s crop of choice to help the village, the invention of the compass which a group of shady people want the alliance only to benefit from and the hero trying to dodge Maou’s attempts to get in bed with her. Probably might be a while till the latter actually happens. :lol:

you guys ever have an anime you watch weekly that gets you so excited to watch it, that when it comes out and you sit down to watch it, you start trembling with excitment and joy? there are only a few anime i looked forward to that much week after week, chihyahafuru has become one of them, i fucking love this god dam anime.

boku wa 2 ep2

[details=Spoiler]Oni-sabitch! Maria LLOOLOOL! Best part.

Looks like Rika gets a makeover also, Imma miss her glasses :confused: but yay for contacts. She totally looks much better with them.[/details]

i wanna watch boku wa 2, but i dont have enough time, imma wait till its done and just marathon it.

is it possible to pick up chihyahafuru if you didn’t watch the first season? If so, I may give it a run.

i have mangahere set to send emails when new chapters are released, which works for me since i obsessively check my email.

finally decided to read pokemon adventures, shit gets serious in that manga… or as serious as a pokemon story could get.

PERHAPS I’LL WATCH SOMETHING OTHER THAN JOJO THIS SEASON, like this psycho pass show

the first season is needed. its literally a direct sequel picking up where season 1 left off.

Why would you watch the second season of an anime without watching the first?

Oh god Cage of Eden setting up for a terrible ending >.< the manga must have got axed or the author wanted to end it things are getting insanely rushed. The amount of plot holes present would make this manga look like Swiss Cheese. Shame since this survival manga started off so good

[details=Spoiler]
Another Time Skip, MC Mom dying due to her old age and her “daughter” takes over the operations of the island. Finally back to the “present” with the main characters at the island with Another timeskip with three years having passed. They set up base at the ruins of the residential district a built a village. Everyone looks older and they built a huge wooden ship in preparation of leaving the island to Japan with thoughts of what has happened due to the slime they found. [spoiler/]

Dunno, it doesn’t sound too bright but I have done this with Geass and other anime. I just pick it up right then and there and see what the fuss is.

May God have mercy on your soul

I watched like 15min of Fate/Stay Night and couldn’t stomach it. Then I watched all of Fate/Zero and enjoyed it. Probably won’t ever try F/SN again. (=

There is no Fate/Stay Night anime.

I just finished Cage of Eden, Feels more rushed than the end of DBGT…though with GT it was more of a mercy killing.
Could have been better, but it also could have been worse…I already miss Mina (fake).

Vividred Operation 02

Spoiler

I like it. The tomato subplot was kinda dumb, though. Not that I ever said I was coming into this show for a plot. Less asses than the first episode but the fact that the show is currently Nanoha + GaoGaiGar is amazing and I hope to not be disappointed.

Chihayafuru 2 - 02

Spoiler

Sumire follows Taichi to the Shiranami Society and watches him from afar as he plays a match of karuta with a fellow member. Dr. Harada happens by and pulls Sumire aside, thinking that the girl might in interested in learning karuta. When Sumire asks Dr. Harada about what is the appeal of karuta, his answer results in a bit of confusion for the girl - You have to play karuta to understand it, but even when you play, you may have yet to understand why you play it. In the case of Dr. Harada anyway.

The next day before practice, Kana scolds Chihaya when she attempts to clean the clubroom, though the club president means well. Later, Chihaya is a bit saddened when the number of first-years is reduced to just Akihiro, who is the last to remain after no one else seemingly showed up for the practice session. However, Sumire later shows up to the clubroom and Taichi is the one who thanks her for coming, which makes Sumire all happy that she has his attention/praise.

As the club members and first-years prepare for a practice match, Sumire has a girl moment and rushes out of the clubroom, soon followed by Kana and Chihaya. She then goes to pretty herself up and though Kana goes to scold her, Sumire is the one to flip it around and makes a comment that Kana is forced to recognize. In the classroom, Akihiro shows off that he is a practitioner of ‘Second Verse Karuta’ from Hokkaido and hopes that one day he’ll be recognized for his ability. When the girls return, the practice matches commence (with club members thinking about what their purpose should be) and Chihaya takes notes of Akihiro’s tendencies that are displayed in his match with Sumire (intimidation techniques, a ‘two-handed’ style, lefty/southpaw). Though Sumire doesn’t seemed too enthusiastic to play, she manages to take one card, due to the recognition of the poem/verse. A comment about Sumire’s fingernails come up, with Chihaya and Kana saying that she should trim them. Sumire then blurts out why she’s only sticking around in the Karuta Club when she’s not interested in learning the game - to win over Taichi. She then rushes out of the room in embarrassment and though Chihaya makes an attempt to chase after Sumire, the club president injures herself and it is Kana that goes after Sumire instead. The boys seem to have a moment as well. Yuusei tells Akihiro that he will be the one to teach him proper Karuta, instead of Taichi.

Kana goes outside and finds Sumire crying around the corner of a building. This time, it’s Kana with some thoughtful words, not only remarking about Sumire’s present crying condition, but noticing that she is a sort of kindred soul due to her recognition of the ‘100 poems’ - the emotion of love behind the words. The ‘girl of modern times’ and the ‘girl of traditions past’ share a moment of understanding that eventually has both girls returning to the clubroom together, but not before Kana asks Sumire for some beauty tips. Sumire’s attitude has appeared to changed and she asks to sit out of practice in order to learn and memorize the remaining 100 poems and she even goes as far as to trim her fingernails down on the advice of both Chihaya and Kana.

Vividred Operation - 02

Spoiler

Aoi, like Akane, is also offered the power to fight against the Alone and after her transformation, Aoi manages to save an jet fighter pilot (and aircraft) as well as show off her battle prowess by deflecting the Alone’s laser beams. After Akane and Aoi combine their efforts, along with some help from the defense forces, to render the Alone motionless. Dr. Isshiki tells the girls to ‘dock’ in order to finish it off. However, as the girls begin to dock together, their consciousness and emotions are able to be sensed by the other and for some reason the synchronization doesn’t commence. Akane believes that she and Aoi shouldn’t have any problem linking up but Aoi seems to think otherwise as Dr. Isshiki says that one of them might be holding back.

A flashback takes place showing the first meeting of Aoi and Akane and highlights the gift of a tomato from Akane to Aoi. Back in present time, a mysterious girl off in the distance fires an arrow into the motionless Alone, which reactivates it and makes it undergo a transformation into a more powerful form. Akane and Aoi try to attack it but both their attacks are deflected. As they regroup, Aoi tells Akane why she was holding back - her dislike of tomatoes and how Akane would react if she found out. Akane tells Aoi that she knew about it but doesn’t hold it against her. When the girl initiate the docking sequence again, it is successful and Aoi transforms into a more powerful form with Akane’s help. Together, the girls vanquish the transformed Alone, destroying it entirely. The mysterious girl sees what has transpired and leaves as the defense forces celebrate and acknowledge the power of the girls and Dr. Isshiki’s creation.

The next day as Akane and Momo go to school they see that a crowd has gathered ahead of them. The sisters see Aoi nearby and as they go to investigate, the area where the small school once stood no longer exists, because of the erratic destruction from the Alone in yesterday’s battle. A female military official then moves to meet the girls and says that they will need to transfer schools.

Kotoura-san - 02

Spoiler

Haruka (with Manabe in tow) is ‘recruited’ by Yoriko, the president of the ESP Society Club, who is quite enthusiastic after having found the girl that has the power to read minds. At the clubroom, the newly recruited duo meets Daichi, the VP of the club and though Yoriko puts on a public face for the club with her proposal for club activities (ESP awareness/tolerance), she appears to have a private agenda of sorts that involves using Haruka to achieve some goal. Haruka catches a glimpse of a painful memory of Yuriko’s and for now it is a secret between the two. Meanwhile, a girl named Hiyori doesn’t seem to like how Haruka is friendly with Manabe in their class.

The image that Haruka sees in Yuriko’s mind is that of an incident involving Yuriko’s mother, who was also psychic and had to endure harsh criticisms of her ability that led to her committing suicide, an event that has had an affect on Yuriko. At school, Yuriko plans to have a demonstration of sorts by utilizing a hidden Haruka to read the fortunes of students. Things don’t go quite as planned as though the readings are correct, Yuriko is inconsistent with the delivery by presenting the wrong info for the read person as Haruka is unable to see them. However, Haruka steps in and decides to do the reading herself, which upon having successful results draws in a larger crowd. Hiyori then approaches Haruka for a reading and begins to spout negative remarks in her mind that make Haruka feel uncomfortable (as she realizes why Hiyori is acting this way), causing her to throw up.

At school the next day, Haruka notices that she is a subject of teasing due to the ‘throw up’ incident, but she does her best to not let it get to her. Words of Haruka being bullied reach Yoriko’s ears and she rushes off to find Haruka. Somewhere else, Manabe notices one of the pranks in progress, which angers him, and he goes to confront Hiyori about it. Hiyori plays dumb as Manabe calls her out on what she did and even says that he likes Haruka, a double-blow on two fronts to Hiyori from the person she liked. Outside the classroom, Yoriko and Haruka are listening in on the convo, with the latter breaking into tears after hearing what Manabe had said.

Later at the ESP clubroom, Manabe enters and finds Yoriko and Daichi, but no Haruka, until Haruka is revealed to be hiding under a box. Though somewhat embarrassed by Manabe’s declaration and comforted by Yuriko’s apology, Haruka feels that she has somewhere that she can belong, as part of the ESP club.

Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman - 02

Spoiler

Roman (during day-time hours) encounters Magoichi, who had thwarted his alternate persona the night before. This time though, Magoichi wishes to employ the ‘helper’ in order to find someone. However, Roman ends up refusing the job offer. That evening Roman rescues a man named Yohei, who was injured by a group of men that multiple parties are searching for, including Magoichi and some woman who is in charge of the group of men. Yohei is found in Roman’s care by the group of men and the helper flees with him, thanks to some help from his friends.

The pair soon encounters Magoichi who says he is searching for Yohei - in order to protect him. After Roman and Yohei escape via boat, Magoichi display his hidden fighting prowess and utilizes a variable gun weapon (single/dual modes, blade) to dispatch them, but unbeknownst to Magoichi, his actions are noticed by someone in the shadows. Magoichi rendezvous with Yohei, who is reunited with his friends, and asks the man a question about a woman that Magoichi seems to be seaching for. Yohei says that the woman has passed but that her daughter is still alive. After Yohei leaves, Roman acknowledges Magoichi’s efforts and says that he can call upon him (as Manjiro) for help, if needed.

Later on, Magoichi is meeting with someone who he ends up reporting to. It seems that Magoichi’s real job is that of an assassin and he is also part of a group that is currently searching for something.
