I really don’t think their Choo article was WRONG though. Having followed that site since before it was popular, I actually saw it happen.
But yeah main reason I pointed it out is that it’s actually an INTERESTING non-news anime blog, which is pretty much the most unlikely thing ever. I don’t agree with opinions on some of the articles(that Madoka “predictability” either), but at least the site is actually interesting and they say what they want to say.
As for taking it too seriously, they mentioned in the podcast that a lot of it is poking fun at the community which can’t seem to handle laughing at themselves, something I know I’ve been guilty of.
Well finding old stuff is hard no matter how many shops you visit, you will just have to check them all plus Yahoo Auctions Japan if you want old stuff. That is just the nature of figure collecting.

I do agree, and I honestly had to read more on their site to get a grasp of what they are actually trying to do. I do think some of them are too abrasive just for the sake of being abrasive, but overall I appreciate them. What really won me over is when they said that they were tired of the immense and rampant fakeness present in most anime blogs. I have felt the same way in numerous occasions and on many message boards aside from this thread.

Dropped Hanasaku ages ago at ep 5. I didn’t want to sit through another anime about the good hearted heroine “trying her best”. They pull me along the ropes of who to obviously cheer for the whole time with scripted emotion queues and Ohana’s preachy moral backbone so much that I had to stop. I think the anime is just too good for me. No resolution worth watching for that pulled me in at first other than-will the modest, ganbaru ohana pull through life at a resort? I just had a feeling if I kept watching, each episode was just going to spoon feed me healthy Japanese values.

She doesn’t ever confront the teacher in any direct and honest way. She’s passive about everything she takes part in, and she’s so weak from facing the obstacles and losses in her real life that she has to take shelter in her sister’s dead identity to stay sane instead of bravely overcoming them.
