Will definitely look into Madoka. Just gotta make sure I don’t over saturate myself this summer like I did last year. Kinda got burnt out.
Well to be honest I’d say removing it from the category would spoil it a little, I’m sure some of us who didn’t know who Urobochi was or didn’t know that he was writing for it were suprised at how it ended up as something which we have to question whether it belongs in the “Magical Girl” category or not and that suprise adds to the impact for some people.

My best friend died in his sleep this holiday~ I was looking through my things when I found a booklet of DVD’s I had borrowed from him and never returned. First few discs were of GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka). I totally forgot how good this show was~ it’s like, it kind of sat in the back of my head and blended with everything else in its own way. Smiles and sighs~<3

I’d personally put it in the drama category.
Maybe it would, but a lot of people would probably see it in that category and think “Magical girl stuff? zzz No thanks.” when they could be missing out on something great and not even know it. Since episode three I’ve always considered the show to be a grim dark drama with magical girl themes.

But honestly, anything can go in the drama/comedy department. I guess we could add subgenres to some shows? Since a lot of shows fit more than one genre demographic.

- Card Captor Sakura(cute things are cute, comedy, romance)
- Magical Doremi
- Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha(action, mecha-esque, sci-fi, military)
- Pretty Cure
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica(drama, psychological, horror, yuri)
- Sailor Moon

Cutie Honey is a mixed bag.
It’s more action-ish than it is magical girl for most iterations (original manga). Some versions (Flash) are definitely magical girl, though. I wouldn’t consider it magical girl unless we are talking about those versions.
Only Cutey Honey worth mentioning is Re-Cutey Honey…Not sure how i would classify the show tho…kind of depends on the episode.

Mkv is cool for shit that is dual audio, but I need to download stuff that will already play on the xbox and my sony bravia without converting it. Not gonna convert every single mkv out there to watch shit that I don’t even know if I will like.

Indeed, as far as Madoka, I don’t how anyone could be shocked or amazed how dark this show is. They must really pull some gory shit later on the in the series that made some of you tinkle on yourselves.

Onizuka was great, though I wish they managed to adapt the whole thing instead of abruptly ending it.
Huh. Drama in the show is certainly in spades, but it’d be hard to call it the defining one.
I like mzen’s idea, however. Maybe I’ll add in some other genres that can fit within a few shows.
