Agreed. The story and everything else in GC seems pretty good, but Shu makes me want to punch my TV. Half the anime is being spent on him crying and going back and forth with quitting/not quitting.

Madoka is actually a manly anime, despite there being so many middle schoolers. lolol

Yeah, the english voice cast sounds terribly mediocre. Heard worse, but from the trailer, it doesn’t sound too promising. All the girls sound the same for some reason, with Mami the only one that sounds slightly different. I guess the real test for the voice actresses is when shit starts getting real and pretty damn dark. Furthermore, how the hell do you market a show like that in America without ruining the fact that the show isn’t what it looks like? I don’t remember how Higurashi was marketed (or if it was even marketed at all), but the Madoka trailer doesn’t show any clues of the show’s grim dark nature. I guess with cases like these, the best marketing the show could be word of mouth. Let’s say two friends don’t watch fan subs and are pretty ignorant to anime that airs in Japan. Friend A buys Madoka because he likes uguu kawaii stuff. Friend A gets to episode three, sees what happens, and is like “YO DAMN WHAT THE FUCK I GOTTA TELL FRIEND B AND ALL MY OTHER FRIENDS TO WATCH THIS SHIT.” Friend B watches, sees the same thing, tells his friends, cycle continues.

I guess that’s the only real way the show is going to sell itself. Then again, it’s said that word of mouth is the most effective marketing for anything.

Ah sadly not yet mate; the only anime I’m watching atm is Fate Zero, but decided to start Madoka due to it being 12 eps. and because I thought ‘what the hey’.
I’ll try to push Cowboy Bebop ahead of the many anime in my backlog though~

Oh and if anyone didn’t read my previous post:
There is a new JoJo series that just started scanlation; JoJoLion. Only 4-5 chapters but they contain the weirdness and horror factor Araki’s known for.

Madoka Magica episode 10

He’s talking about the scene in episode ten when the group (everyone, meaning Mami, Madoka, and Kyoko; Homura already knew) finds out Sayaka turns into a witch. Mami goes insane and kills Kyoko by suddenly shooting Kyoko’s Soul Gem. She’s about to kill Homura after tying the girl up with her magical ribbons before Madoka intervenes, shattering Mami’s Soul Gem and killing her. Probably one of the most difficult scenes to watch in the show, beaten only by Homura mercy killing Madoka right after.

Episode 10 is easily the best, and most depressing, episode of the series.

This just reminds me that no show will ever troll its audience more than Ga-Rei Zero.
