Anime Con in Davis holding a tournament. (Ended)

Just to make it clear, the tourney is on the THIRD FLOOR OF MEMORIAL UNION AT UCDAVIS! Just go on up through the elevator :slight_smile:

For those in the Sac/Davis are on Saturday, April 28th. The Davis Fighting Game Club is teaming up with the Davis Anime Club. More games may come as things progress, but for now all that is certain is what’s listed below.

Tentative Schedule:
10-12pm registration and free play.
1pm MK 9. Pools *** Skull Girls has been officially added at 1pm.
2pm AE 2012 Pools.
3pm Marvel pools.
4pm SFxT Pools.
5pm - 9pm MK 9 top 8, AE2012 Top 8, Marvel Top 8 and SFxT Top 8. *** Skull girls is officially added.

A little confused on the $ aspect… So say I want to enter all games, would I just pay $12 for all? Or $5 venue + $5/game? Or free…? ;p
Haven’t been to a con in forever so if it works out in my schedule I’ll head out!

All right, haha, I see what you mean. Here’s how it works: There’s an anime con happening the same day. Registration for the Anime Con is $12. If you pay that, then you don’t have to pay venue fee for the tournament. If you don’t want to pay for the whole con and just come to the tournament, it’s a $5 venue fee. And later you can upgrade for $7 more and enjoy the rest of the con. And each game is $5 entry for prizes. For Example, if you came to just enter the Marvel event you’d pay $10. If you wanted to go to the con and play Marvel, $17.

What system is this being held on?

oh and also whats the format for SFxT? 2v2, 1v1? No gems?

True that. My stick is not dual modded so I need to know what system as well.

It’s all PS3.

For SFxT: we planned this event before Evo came out with its 2v2 rule. So I don’t know if it should be 1v1 or 2v2. I imagine 2v2 is the only way to go competitively since every major or smaller run tourney will be doing it that way. And yes, no gems.

Thanks for the info. IMO 1v1 should be held, whether separately or at the same time as 2v2, it’ll give us solo players a chance to meet other tourny players since it’s so early in the 2v2 process.

I’ll definitely register if you can ensure 1v1!

hmm. Well I won’t promise anything yet. I want to hold a meeting with the club and see what they’re in favor of. They are going to help setup and all. I’ll keep you posted though. I should know by this Friday. And I imagine that it will happen.

Good news. I’m guaranteeing that it will be a 1v1 tourney. You paid for both characters, you get both characters :wink:

I also want to announce that we will be holding a Skull Girls tourney after all. It will be added to the schedule, probably ran the same time as MK9.
