If it wasn’t for the high price con fee I could see people going but because of that I don’t think people will go to a tourney that they have to pay $20 to $30 dollars just to get in the game room. Some of those entry fee’s are a little too high in my opinion for some of the games.

The AB Community has been clamoring for pot tourneys for awhile now. There is a huge amount of competitors there for a variety of games. We want to make sure the pot is a good size for each game. The entry fees for AB are actually pretty good for all the material you get at that show, events, concerts, gaming, exhibitors, seminars and a ton of fun…

Its not just a tournament, its an event.

thanks for your suggestion eitherway

I dont understand…I see both games both on Friday and Saturday. How is that going to work out? can someone explain it to me?

There is a tournament on friday and seperate tournament on Saturday. The winners from both tournament face off on Sunday for the grand prize.

Thank you dash

Because of the sheer size of AB we run the same tourney each day to get as many competitors involved.

Manny, wouldn’t people get turned off by the fact that there is a entry fee this time around and it’s usually free entry at Anime Boston? I mean there’s not that many people that play as seriously as the people on this forum and might be turned off by the fact that there’s money on the line this time.

People have been asking for this since 2007 Tom,

I think it will help the community grow. I was considering doing this schedule similar to the Katsucon Schedule which is Bragging Rights Friday, Pots Saturday and Petition on Sunday, but im not sure it would work because of the numbers. but I am going over this with Javi and Roman and put it to a vote.

The community there is like any of the other good fighter communities, its there, they need a solid tournament or ranbat to help them grow, now that GU (The store) is gone, TGA is gone and GU (The con was a disaster - Thanks alot John Keough - sarcasm…grumble) AB which is already an amazing convention (and will probably be over 20,000 attendance this year) is the best location to hold these tourneys. for now we will consider them “RanBats” and grow the community.

Move forward without fear my friend ^_~

work on your fuerte skills brotha.

I went ahead and made the changes in this schedule to reflect our new scenario for the Anime and Gaming Convention Community

Friday - Bragging Rights Tourneys
Saturday - Pot Tournaments
Sunday - Request / Petition Tourneys

This will make each tournament start and end on the same day - Also because it is the first time AB has Pot tournaments we have to have a normal bragging rights scenario. We will have extra setups on hand for each of the major tourneys to swim through brackets.

We have also made the official post on the AB Boards

Damn Manny you get around.

No homo.

PS I’ll be there.

It’s great to see Anime Boston finally doing pot tournaments and I really hope for the best for you guys in this. I think your biggest obstacle will be the fact that Penny Arcade Expo East takes place the weekend before AB. I’ve been an attendee of Anime Boston every year since the 1st one, but I opted to go to PAX East this year instead. I can’t justify going to both since we usually get a hotel room and stuff.

PAX is a big deal and we will have a presence there as guests and press in the gaming industry as GPX/NerdFit AB I think will have a little impact from it, but I am certain AB will still be 20,000 attendance despite the PAX Beast coming into the market. The date is probably something I would change for their 2011 event. While it is an easy event to stand alone based on its focus, the economy is still having its struggles and people can’t always afford to do both.

I hope both do well in general. Our focus for the most part will be to make AB’s gaming second only to itself each year. PAX is what it is, but so is AB ^^

Nice, pots are coming this year. This is enough hype for me to get my game up, and not lose again to anyone participating again.

Im entering the CoD MW2 tournament, Is there anyone else here willing get a team together and practice for the tournament at AB? If so please contact me via xbox - chouji senpai

Also, Manny…are we going to have customization to our set ups or are we using the default slots for weapons/perks?

Mad hype. I like the way you’ve set this up, GPX! I will be there, for GG and SFIV. Maybe STHD and MBAA too.

Please make a thread for this on Dustloop. Need to get the word out for that Guilty Gear! (And BlazBlue too, I guess…heh.)

It’d also be good to post this on Melty Bread for that MB.

Thanks Blue! I will make the posts and make sure its getting hyped. For COD:MW2 I will be updated our rulesets on the gpx site to make sure its all listed, we usually go with default classes, no noobtubes, no kill score assists, etc. I will have an update rule set by the end of this week.

Thanks!

Yo manny. I’m still available to run brackets at this if you need me to.

Alright, thanks for the update Manny.

Still need that Dustloop thread. Let’s go, Manny! Hahaha.

Less than a month to go!
