2 years later and we still obsessinâ over this.
I listened to NPR this morning and god damned, theyâre all salty because Trump actually made the economy better last quarter. Like, they canât even admit that heâs done SOMETHING positive. Donât get me wrong, I still think heâs a bitch, but give the man credit where itâs due. If thereâs one thing Trump can get right itâs probably going to be the economy.
Your country is too obsessed with tribal us vs them bullshit.
No side will ever speak good of the other.
Even though I think Trump is the dumbest world leader alive, perhaps ever⌠Canât deny that propping up the GDP is a positive.
Short of starting wars or deliberately tanking industries, the President doesnât have much direct influence on the GDP anyway. Think we had this discussion in here back before Trump even announced he was running.
Helps to remember that A LOT of people (including myself) didnât vote this election. Iâve had my long standing gripes with our government as well (and I continue to do so), but Iâll be voting come this November and 2020.
cynt: I didnât respond on that end because that wasnât relevant to my concern. I donât keep track of every thread. If someone asks me to help with something, I try to. If someone makes an incorrect statement, Iâm not necessarily even going to notice.
chad: Thatâs cuz heâs making the rich richer, generally. Check out real wage growth: itâs fucked. Aaand itâs quarterly, not annual. Good quarters happen regularly. What % of that is preloading due to tariffs and borrowing-based tax cut? That sounds great now but would fuck us in the future.
Thatâs why Trump was lying about this today. Sure, itâs a great paper number ⌠that happened regularly under Obama. Make it meaningful and youâve got something to talk about. The causes of this bounce seem to be pretty negative.
I riotously disagree with you on that bit about âTrump can get the economy rightâ. One of my closest friends has a key role in international trade. No one in the US or outside the US understands what the fuck Trumpâs âpoliciesâ are and how to work with him other than that sucking up to him works wonders. His interactions with leaders in the world economy are equally baffling: he makes light night rambling calls to industry leaders to talk about nothing and no one knows if anything will ever come of the âplansâ discussed.
Itâll be very interesting to see what happens with ongoing international trade discussions: to see if his mad bull approach to the world does anything positive. Hopefully they need us more than we need them.
You really SHOULD have responded to it, considering what he said, had that new thread not existed, completely contradicted what you were going on about. He said the thread was closed, you glossed over it and told him to post in what he thought was a closed thread. A simple note that said âthereâs a new one for you to post inâ wouldâve gone a long way. Didnât even need to link it, just mention it.
âUse the right thread. Just cuz this thread exists doesnât make it the right one for your particular axe to grind.â
Wise words, right there. Iâm excited about Nutella. That doesnât instantly make this the right place to post up Nutella recipes. In fact I should probably create a Nutella thread if I canât find an existing recipe or Nutella thread.
I didnât know a new thread existed - I took his statement at face value - and thus couldnât have said that.
You do really shitty metamoderation. Stop it.
Look, Iâm not trying to make this into a big thing. Iâm sorry if you find someone being a helpful poster for another poster is considered The-M-Word. But if youâre saying âuse the right threadâ, and he says âthe right thread is closedâ, the response shouldnât be âuse the right threadâ again. It either makes you look like you donât give a damn about reading or youâre stupid as fuck and arenât able to comprehend what is being said.
A little courtesy goes a long way, Preppy. Less egg on your face when someone else has to be courteous for you.
The notion that because I did not say what thread it belonged in, or point out that we have the brand new âCreate a new topicâ option, makes this the right thread is inane.
Aaaanyways.
Whereâs preppy now? How does this even relate to politics much less the american government?
Godzilla vs tits shouldnât ever be considered off topic.
they are all very ugly.
well, itâs more about the sad state of society.

The artical didnât say what the headline does.
The headline is wrong - dead wrong.
But so is the article in its wilfull assertion that the problems that have come after slavery, did not in fact FOLLOW from slavery⌠which they have, and still do.
This isnât even taking into account the fact that the article deliberately conflates traditional slavery with the chattel slavery that occurred in the Americas.
