American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

my position was clarified well before you people went off on that tangent and whatever you’re feeling. you need to keep that same energy, breh.

there’s a difference between policy and law. trump wasn’t enforcing the law when he tried to skirt the flores agreement with his policy choice. he actually ran afoul of the law.

lol…i’m almost sorry i asked, but thanks, fishjie. your post exemplifies why i would never use facebook (don’t even have an account) as a legit source of information on anything. a bunch people misinforming one another? no thanks.

agreed. although, i find it interesting that some of the posters rebuttals seem to be almost exclusively the video form of an opinion piece. i’m not even going to get into the whole issue of randoms recording from their basement/bedroom or their lack of even informed opinions in many of these videos. however, i do think it’s funny because they seem to think facebook posts, youtube videos, etc are equivalent to a news article. so, they keep posting them and i keep thinking “no, sir.” and keep scrolling right past it.

lol…yeah, some posters do that a lot around here.

This is the former US ambassador to Russia in the Obama admin…

Anyone got any theories why Trump would keep kissing Putins ass and fucking with our allies in NATO? Like any LOGICAL non this nigga clearly got his help and has to pay his debt crap… I am trying to find reasons to do this I really am… One of you Trumpers has to have SOMETHING!!!

Seriously Jeff just shut the fuck up already. We get it your party line till your done.

OH pleeezzee allies don’t judge us by Trumps actions as I go to push more of his crap through… This nigga is worse than Trump … Same with McCain/Collins and Mercowski or however the fuck you spell it… All talk and then same ol same ol. Maybe they would care and remember if they knew the ONLY people with power to stop this idiot actually did something… But again see above WHY is Trump praising a ruthless dictator and attacking our allies??..

Stzok is straight fire today. The sad thing is I can’t imagine the Republicans are actually listening. The Paul Ryan thing is equally depressing. Did everybody skip Schoolhouse Rock?

Work expands to fill the time available for completion. Dubbed parkinson’s law, which was admittedly a piece of satire. The corollary is that government bloats to fill its budget. So once you create one bureaucrat, he multiplies like a cancer until there are dozens more. That’s how you go from just having the FBI, to the CIA, the NSA, DHS, and so on, each one getting more and more bloated as time goes on. So yes, I am against tax increases, unless there is going to be a lot more transparency on how that money is spent and what each of those public employees is doing. Here is an article from economist, which is liberal leaning, not conservative:

at the bottom it goes into one such case study.

in government and corporations, teams spend all their allotted budget every year because it they don’t, they get less budget the next year around. they have to justify their existence to ensure their livelihood. in private sector, if there is dead weight on a team, either they get fired eventually, or the company collapses from too many incompetent people. in government its impossible to get fired, and knowing many people who quit government jobs or jobs that dealt with government (like boeing) because they sat around doing nothing all day because of all the red tape involved, i’m not really convinced that more taxes will do anything other than hire more bureaucrats. you can call my thinking infantile i don’t mind. but can you explain why the universities keep raising tuitions while my wife when she was getting her PHD at UW was making less than minimum wage (factoring in how many hours she worked) while the administrators keep giving themselves pay raises? just ask any professors who work at university, they don’t really see any pay raises, but the admins keep making more and more money, they easily making over six figures. and are they providing more value than STEM professors? fuck no! (note i said STEM and not the SJW liberal art professors who are equally as useless as administrators)

how would i fix it? i dont know either, but it would probably be something along the lines of much more transparency what each government employee does, and if they’re not doing shit, they should get fired. roll this process up to their team and then department and so on. after such a culling process is done, it turns out there is a legitimate need for more money, ok then raise taxes. such a change would be much easier at the local government level than the federal level.

Congressional Republicans are fucking clowns.

fishy: I actually can explain that if you really want: it’s not rocket science. It’s, generally speaking, the upwards pressure of comparative positions in related fields. I’d presume people have done studies on these trends already, since this is old news.

Cutting taxes only makes sense if you’re already paying for what you’re buying. The Trump Giveaway to the Rich of 2018 tax plan needlessly and poorly spurs us in the moment, but fucks us further long term. As Jerome Powell repeated today, “It’s a fact that the United States is not on a sustainable fiscal path”. You can buy into anti-tax madness, but I’m going to walk away from that angle as it’s inane.

David was also fire. This guy wasn’t having any of the shit the GOP was trying… Still not taking it pretty much looking to release the closed door stuff as well.

What a smug piece of garbage Strozk is.

He actually wants us to believe that texting “We’ll stop Trump” during the start of the Russian investigation he headed had no impact on his work. That it would “no way suggested that I or the FBI would take any action to influence the candidacy.” And all the other texts, such as: “we’ll stop it [the Trump campaign]” and “F Trump” certainly wouldn’t impact his FBI work, right? Give me a break…

The Democrats are such jokes, as usual.

You got Steve Cohen saying that he want to give Strozk a purple heart. For what? Harming the credibility of an investigation that has shown almost no results (and certainly not the results the Democrats wanted) after over a year?

And the constant interuptions and grandstanding by Democrats. Hey Nadler, if you think this hearing is a waste of time, you’re welcome to leave and do something else with your “valuable” time. I’m sure it will be more productive than whining “objection” and “point of order” for asking a perfect valid question like “how many people did you interview in the eight days before the formal FBI investigation into Trump-Russia collusion began?”

But at the end of the day, this is all a rodeo show. Congress has no teeth against the administrative state. Nothing will come of this, but another report from Gowdy but with no repercussions.

There is really no difference between capitalism and communism, if you think about it. Just look at places with capitalism where there is no “middle class”.

So, that’s why there is a lot of socialism on Earth…

Yeah, this shit show was the worst yet. The side of my family that votes Republican don’t bring up politics anymore but I’ll be glad to throw this in their face whenever it comes up.

Dude brought up that being a dentist is in the same league as a spy hunter. Them having the bait questions blown up in their face was just too good. Even better now that this is all on the internet forever is more delicious. Glad I saw some of those burns live.

Trey Gowdy looked like straight clown shoes, even after running waaay past his limit for questioning. In the beginning he 30 minutes passed the two minute limit and just got blown up for it, multiple times.

Might have to save this hearing on a hard drive, lest it “somehow” does go missing, lol.

The first 2 minutes are all you really need to see as it becomes a bit theatrical. It’s a fair point given the circumstances. The FBI could have let the cat out of the bag if it really wanted to influence things the other way, but didn’t.

Please compare and contrast the results to date of the Clinton investigation (any of them) vs just the current known results of the ongoing Trump investigation.

lol

Strzok messed up with placing his personal business on his work phone. However, the length they are going for just to have a finger to point as a diversion is crazy.

Funny that reading peoples texts among themselves is now a contract for a hit job. But Raskin does try and get to the bottom of this GOP led hit job? Seriously this clip is straight FIRE.

This shit show is what happens when one sided garbage you guys are fed meets that thing called opposition. It was a shit show the Republicans demanded on to fuel more conspiracy theory. In the end you ignore posts about why is Trump trying to destroy our Nato Allies relationships and seems to only love Putin. Got any reasons as to why this might be? Anything?

oh, everyone on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee knew that, but that isn’t the point. the general point of congressional hearings is for politicians to get camera time to raise their profile. sometimes, it includes providing WWE-like theatrics, bombast and hyperbole for the public. this committee had an 11 hour private interview on classified and non-classified information with Strzok weeks before the public hearing. i’m pretty sure it didn’t devolve into the farce that was shown on tv. what’s the point? there’s no audience. lol.

there were no surprises, dramatic turns of events, smoking guns, etc for the panel. everyone on the panel knew what relevant questions had been asked and could be answered in public. the only thing left was to manufacture artificial fuckkery for the public. so, if one came away with the impression that this hearing is proof of a deep-state conspiracy against trump. i’m sure they believe wrestling isn’t staged and completely real.

lol…you know they don’t want to get sauced up by answering a question they can’t answer because it might be contradicted by their incoherent Dear Leader in the next five minutes. you see what he did to Theresa May?

In any case, both sides should be upset that your tax dollars are being used for such BS.

I’ll answer this because fuck it, I’m the one who linked the damn thing. Still need to slog through the full 10 hours of it but it was a hilariously bipartisan shit show which is what it was going to be.

The real issue is that Strzok got caught with his torso knee deep in the cookie jar. Most of the thing should’ve ended after Gowdy asked him about his texts on impeaching trump that he was sending before they did any interviews. If you’re dealing with this type of shit, you probably shouldn’t be making comments about who you are investigating or anything else. You may want to, but similar situation became an issue in the OJ case.

Strzok got caught, he gets removed and that should, somebody double checks his work and we all move on. Pretending he didn’t have a personal bias wasn’t going to help; but neither was this shit show really. Like Mr.Punk said, this is a dog and pony show.

Bringing up the campaign trail comments and other things doesn’t really help either. Much less the latter than the former. The first year of the white house might as well have happened with the doors wide opened since the place was leaking harder than Capcom. Were there several people in the republican party who hated Trump enough to leak shit all over the place? yeah, actually. Was it a coordinated effort between all of those people? Who the fuck knows. But there have been people actively fucking with him for better or worse.

The NATO situation is hilarious in approach is similar to the NK one. I’m not fond of the 4D chess analogies but what’s really going to be the end result of what Trump wants? It sure as hell won’t be weakening NATO, it’ll be increased spending on it by allied nations which would ultimately make it stronger.

Trump wants other NATO countries to spend more, he is harassing them in a dumb ass way, the way to capitulate to Trump is for NATO spending to increase from other member nations. Maybe you don’t want to tell allied nations to EAD and pull their weight but hey, that’s this president’s strategy. Hopefully it works. NK sort of worked out and that was Twitter Diplomacy. Shit is funky now.

Either way its hilariously funky that massive sticking point of the left has been to reduce military spending to pay for social services when a good chunk of that military spending goes to maintaining bases abroad. I can’t say that Trump has thought that far ahead about making people forcefully reconsider their military spending that way but it is what it is. If we want to spend less in certain areas, other people have to spend more. If other people don’t want to spend more, and people in this country don’t want to spend more, then we have to pull back from places.

We could reduce military waste but good luck with that. Military waste is top tier. Either way, figure out where you really want your money or get bent. also if you want to cut government spending, start suggesting where you’d make cuts.

Strzok said the FBI were Republican, until this administration. That includes our Democrat presidents. He didn’t get caught with anything. Any talking point you can bring up by the GOP during that embarrassment he threw right back in the GOP face. There out there to look.

He brought up the issues he had with Trump after dude tried to clown in a dead soldier and his parents for being immigrants and gasp Muslim.

It’ll be interesting to see if you can make a post that long again after actually watching this.

Both sides have been pissed for awhile but the things the Republicans have been taking it to another level of stupid since Trump was elected. They were just as pissed and biased against Trump during the primaries. This is just them just going along with it, because of party lines.
