I’ll answer this because fuck it, I’m the one who linked the damn thing. Still need to slog through the full 10 hours of it but it was a hilariously bipartisan shit show which is what it was going to be.
The real issue is that Strzok got caught with his torso knee deep in the cookie jar. Most of the thing should’ve ended after Gowdy asked him about his texts on impeaching trump that he was sending before they did any interviews. If you’re dealing with this type of shit, you probably shouldn’t be making comments about who you are investigating or anything else. You may want to, but similar situation became an issue in the OJ case.
Strzok got caught, he gets removed and that should, somebody double checks his work and we all move on. Pretending he didn’t have a personal bias wasn’t going to help; but neither was this shit show really. Like Mr.Punk said, this is a dog and pony show.
Bringing up the campaign trail comments and other things doesn’t really help either. Much less the latter than the former. The first year of the white house might as well have happened with the doors wide opened since the place was leaking harder than Capcom. Were there several people in the republican party who hated Trump enough to leak shit all over the place? yeah, actually. Was it a coordinated effort between all of those people? Who the fuck knows. But there have been people actively fucking with him for better or worse.
The NATO situation is hilarious in approach is similar to the NK one. I’m not fond of the 4D chess analogies but what’s really going to be the end result of what Trump wants? It sure as hell won’t be weakening NATO, it’ll be increased spending on it by allied nations which would ultimately make it stronger.
Trump wants other NATO countries to spend more, he is harassing them in a dumb ass way, the way to capitulate to Trump is for NATO spending to increase from other member nations. Maybe you don’t want to tell allied nations to EAD and pull their weight but hey, that’s this president’s strategy. Hopefully it works. NK sort of worked out and that was Twitter Diplomacy. Shit is funky now.
Either way its hilariously funky that massive sticking point of the left has been to reduce military spending to pay for social services when a good chunk of that military spending goes to maintaining bases abroad. I can’t say that Trump has thought that far ahead about making people forcefully reconsider their military spending that way but it is what it is. If we want to spend less in certain areas, other people have to spend more. If other people don’t want to spend more, and people in this country don’t want to spend more, then we have to pull back from places.
We could reduce military waste but good luck with that. Military waste is top tier. Either way, figure out where you really want your money or get bent. also if you want to cut government spending, start suggesting where you’d make cuts.
