American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

There is a big difference between a political opponent and a person doing an investigation. Saying he got caught with nothing is laughable. He got caught saying, in writing, the shit ass opinions you should keep to yourself.

Should things have gotten to this level? Probably not. Was removing him because it made investigation look terrible the right decision? Yes.

Mueller indicted 12 more Russian agents.

Guy has a proven track record in counter-espionage, which includes busting Russian spies no less. This was after he worked on the Clinton email server scandal. That’s as ‘both sides’ as they come. Him popping off on Trump for insulting an American soldier KIA, in a private conversation doesn’t scream partisan bias here as it does, someone being pissed about a shit talker being ignorant.

If this was coming from someone who didn’t work on Clinton email scandal, had a paper trail condemning Republicans before Trump was elected, and a history of leftist extremists rants or even one of those , then I could see partisan bias.

that’s all fine and well but his shit got leaked to the public. Pop off, say what you want etc. you can’t have evidence of bias out there. He may have acted just fine but the whole investigation was going to have his text conversations over its head. Mueller investigation is still on going and we don’t know when it’ll end. Until then the last thing the whole country needs is one person in it being the biggest talking point of it.

How you fuckers don’t understand how those texts leaking were bad for the investigation is beyond me.

Not to mention that he was investigated, and the IG and DOJ concluded that his official actions had no bias whatsoever. Talk about a fucking witch hunt. That hearing yesterday was nothing more than a distraction. Meanwhile, Russians are getting charged for meddling in our election and Trump is about to hold a private meeting with Putin. What in the actual fuck?

I thought the “'cause fuck Trump” idea was pretty damn obvious.

Strzok was a massive glaring liability. Nothing in the investigation was going to move in any sort of positive way so long as he was in it. You had various conservative pundits hammering at it because its in his own fucking texts that he was saying shit like he was going to stop Trump while the election was happening.

It isn’t like there isn’t shit for him to do. Plenty of other important things to investigate. He doesn’t need to be in this one investigation for it to be successful; as a matter of fact, he need to be removed for it to be after those texts leaked.

Call it a witch hunt all you want, but once there’s written statements showing you to have a big personal issue with a person you’re investigating then the best thing to do is to let somebody take over for the sake of the investigation.

I’m not arguing that at all. The texts are a bad look. He should have been removed because of the appearance of bias, even though no bias was discovered in his official business. Still a bad look, but not a basis for dismantling the investigation. That’s what yesterday was about- discrediting the FBI.

Military spending these days is a dictionary definition of corporate welfare and incredible waste, and I think we could stand to close more than half the bases abroad that we have.

But even I can see that few if any politicians have the balls to actually call for that the way this country jockrides the military, even when they do the wrong thing. There are millions of people, not just soldiers who would be affected by the government buying less military hardware & vehicles and closing bases in smaller towns that have nothing else there but that. So how do we solve this problem of incredibly wasteful spending that would put millions of people out of work should we stop wasting that money?

the funny thing about NATO is they pledged to work toward raising spending levels to 2% GDP by 2024 back in 2014. The russian invasion of ukraine and seizure of crimea was the main reason for the decision (i bet trump’s going to suck putin’s dick on that issue). so, he’s obsessing over 2% gdp to which NATO already agreed and then he inexplicably demands 4% gdp. which is in addition to his hints that he may withdraw from NATO and claims that NATO is ripping the US off and owe him money. this isn’t how NATO works and it’s another glaring example of trump’s staggering ignorance on every level. OTOH, if trump’s goal is to create drama with ridiculous tactics in order to declare a victory for himself and dub himself a “stable genius” rather than be an effective president. mission accomplished?

h ttp://time.com/5335111/donald-trump-nato-spending-facts/
h ttps://www.cnn.com/2014/09/05/world/europe/uk-nato-summit/index.html

but trump isn’t the first president to ask NATO to increase their spending. bush did it. obama asked NATO members to do more to help itself and they did in 2014. also, trump isn’t making the argument of spending less on the defense on NATO to save us money. rather, he talks about how he’s getting ripped off, making threats and whatever empty thought pops into his empty head. NATO spending was already on an upward trajectory since 2014. so, he’s angry because they increased spending and a deadline six years away which NATO members already agreed to meet. so, mission accomplished?

ether…and by no coincidence, right before trump’s summit with putin. it’ll interesting to see if trump will habitually start polishing putin’s knob in public or will he front and do it behind closed doors.

The Republicans will make up lies, as they have been doing, anyways. In that case, yeah Strozk is seen as a liability, but so can a lot of things. They’ve flung, and continue to flung, enough shit around that one can only see the bs. None of their actions have been for the better, which is why I can’t help but eyeroll at them.

It is a good strategy to discredit the FBI and the investigation, though. So I’ll concede some, on that one specific aspect.

The funniest thing about all of this is that Bolton is a massive neocon who would love nothing more than to runback the cold war.

A lot of Trump stuff is him just saying garbage. I don’t think he would actually do anything to weaken NATO or do any actual harm to military military assets across the planet. If i was a foreign leader, the only reasonable thing to say is “aight” and go about business as usual.

Like I said, end goal would be NATO spending increases which isnt exactly the worst possible outcome. All of that would go towards posturing even harder towards Russia.

Its not a fucking life if the text messages are out there.

Stop.

Pertho, you obviously did not watch the hearing. There is no bias. Strzok had strong political personal beliefs that he shared with his friend. It has been proven by both the IG and the DOJ that those beliefs never manifested in his professional work. Therefore, NO BIAS. Unfortunately, it is a bad look because he says “Fuck Trump, etc.” and the Republicans jumped on the opportunity to exploit those personal communications with a friend. Again, communications that have been concluded by both the IG and DOJ to have no bias on his work.

That’s the lie the Republicans are pushing. That Strzok is biased in his work and therefore, the investigation should never have been started.

Now it’s being reported they are moving ahead to try to impeach Rosenstein after these indictments come out, lol.

I’m sure Trump’s side is making sure to follow the rules more thoroughly to make this fair and square and show no bias…

Dotard embarrassed us all internationally. I thought he would stay calm and be teleprompter Trump. He obviously wants to extend his alt right fascism to Europe. He did May wrong talking around her back.

Nato was a disaster. He obviously wants to divide the EU. Now he meets with Putin who clearly hacked us.

Being led by Jim Jordon no less who cares so much about his leader going down but not people being sexually assaulted.

The Rosenstein termination will start the domino effect that leads to Muellers termination and that backlash.

Unless you have proof that nobody else has that Strzok’s work was influenced by his actions, I don’t see that anybody gives a fuck. Oh no he said mean things that didn’t influence his work.

Also 32 people have been charged so far as a result of the Mueller investigation.

Also it turns out that the day Trump publicly asked for Russia to get Hillary’s emails, they tried to do so.

But yeah, it’s super important that Strzok said something mean about a guy who made a despicable statement that offended Strzok and would rightly offend most people. Let’s focus on Strzok. Also the President is planning on having a private meeting with Putin, but let’s focus on Strzok (BLFOZ). Also the President lies about the Sun interview… BLFOZ.

This shit isn’t healthy, peeps. It’s not normal for your news media to be saying stuff like “the President falsely claimed…” on a regular basis. Sad times.

Thank you! It gets annoying when people are quick to call out the people not flinging bullshit around. Dude has a history of counter espionage, and I’m surprised THAT wasn’t brought up as being bias…

Oh that dude showed his racism in the relationship thread

But hey falling to alt right memes is what white guys do

Alot of the GOP seem to be trying to stop the Mueller investigation so they can control everything that comes out of it. They don’t mind obstructing justice while on their path.
