American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

Pretty much the case. Our country has went full alt-right. Meaning acceptance of racism and white supremacy. The government doesn’t even acknowledge racism or white supremacy unless in extreme cases and they even fail at that. (Charlottesville).

Conservatives are close to gone and replace by Trumpians.

There appears to be a perception among liberals that race relations are worse than ever, and yet, reality seems to disagree… A group of yahoos with tiki torches do not represent the entire country.

Do you not see the just about daily videos of WHITE WOMEN and MEN YELLING at Mexicans to go back to Mexico? or calling black folk niggas? for no fucking reason most of the time. Seriously do these note appear in your feeds on ANY site? Lil black girls can’t even fucking sell water for fucks sake.

When you act like its not part of reality you are worse than the people doing it. My guess is your white and don’t see past your privilege. Ever been pulled over for a “routine stop”? Ever gone in ANY store above Wal-Mart and been followed for just shopping?

As a Mexican I can say its not just white boyz in red shirts and cachies holding ten dollar torches homie.

But again YOUR leader calls people rapists, sons of bitches and vermin and somehow you expect one side to not attack those actions and those who feel emboldened by them.

you sure about that? or is that how your hot takes are created? for example,

so, should one extrapolate the gop wants to abolish taxes? AFAIK, the irs still exists. the gop also didn’t hesitate passing a massive budget deal using tax payer dollars.

h ttps://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-taxes-congress-idUSKCN0XT0TF

actually, two recently published papers by the OECD and NBER makes a compelling case for unions. clearly, a far more compelling case than your hot take on unions. although, economic growth is up and unemployment has reached record lows in some OECD countries. wages continue to stagnate.

*here’s are some TLDR findings for the US from the OECD:

  • the US has a particularly weak collective-bargaining system.

  • American workers are more likely to be poor (by the standards of their nation). In the United States, nearly 15 percent of workers earn less than half of the median wage.

  • the US has a higher level of income inequality and a larger share of low-income residents than almost any other advanced nation.

  • american workers also get fired more often and with far less notice. OECD research found an unusually large amount of job turnover in the United States is due to firing and layoffs not people leaving for a better paying job.

  • When you lose your job in the US, it’s harder to find another and their earnings don’t recover. Our government does less for us when we’re out of work than just about anyone else’s.

or as one article succinctly summed up the paper.

lol…but in this thread some of these guys were celebrating a tax policy that resulted in minuscule, expiring tax cut, one time bonuses, stagnating wages and billions in stock buybacks. meanwhile, corporate america and wealthy gop donors secured the bag.

true, but that’s a good thing. this thread wouldn’t be half as entertaining without the behavior of culture warriors running up in here with their hot takes and getting clowned, but unlike obama. there’s no need to lie, embellish or manufacture conspiracy theories about trump. the beauty of trump is that he does all the work for you. which reminds me. let me take a shit on this dumb mf.

an outstanding job? well, i guess so if one’s definition of “the best people” is to hire an unqualified, corrupt swamp creature who doesn’t believe in science, used his position and taxpayer money for his own personal gain, treated his staff like servants, endangered the public health and ran the epa into the ground, etc.

pruitt’s resignation letter was a howler. if he wasn’t sucking trump’s dick or claimng he and trump were chosen by god. he was complaining about the “unrelenting attacks” that exposed him doing dumb shit. according to AP, trump has more cabinet-level position turnover than any president at this point in their tenure in the last 100 years. trump’s 34% turnover rate doubled reagan disastrous first year record.

a federal judge ordered the trump adminstration to reunite immigrant children separated from their parents. children under age 5 must be reunited with their parents by July 14 and all other kids must be reunited by July 26. the trump adminstration is asking the judge for more time. why? apparently, it doesn’t know exactly how many of the children in its care were separated from parents under their own policy becuase of poor separation records.

that’s strange.

lol…trump pulls out the iran deal. he wants countries to stop buying oil from iran. oil prices go up because of increased uncertainty due to trump irrational and impulsive decision. his tariffs on steel also make equipment for oil production higher which is passed along to the consumer in higher prices. his solution? he wants OPEC to fix his self-inflicted gunshot wound.

remember how trump proclaimed the meeting with Kim Jong Un a sweeping success?

SoS mike pompeo was in NK to fill in those pesky details of NK’s denuclearization. he gave a rosy assessment of the meetings.

the NK responded with this contradictory statement crushing trump’s nobel prize dreams:

trump finally kicked off a multi-front global trade war. trump imposed tariffs on china, canada, mexico, EU and japan. china, canada, mexico, EU all inflicted retaliatory tariffs. the interesting thing about the tariffs is china, canada, mexico and the EU are specifically targeting goods and jobs where cult45 lives. oh well, trump did tell them there would be pain, but they would be stronger for it. the problem is they don’t exactly sound stronger. it sounds like they’re shitting in their pants.

anyway, the initial tariffs are just the opening volley and only affect a small portion of the economy. however, it could turn into an extended, open ended series of escalating tariffs with no endgame in sight. there is a way out to get out of this and reach an agreement before it gets to far out of hand. unfortunately, i have the upmost confidence in trump’s absolute ignorance on trade policy (or any other policy for that matter) and lack of a clear, coherent strategy on practically anything. so, this could be a slowly unfolding, but entertaining shit show started by trump.

lol…trump kills me.a political no brainer for almost any other president turns into a shit show under trump. the trump administration threatened to hit ecuador with retaliatory trade measures and pull military aid because it proposed an international resolution that encourages breastfeeding. The US eventually agreed to the resolution when russia backed it.

I’m guessing you skipped out on the knock out game that blacks were doing to whites 6 years ago.

Lets be honest, both sides have ass holes to them. Hell recently you had a black woman hit a 92 y/o mexican with a brick, telling him to go back to his country. But no, only whites do it right? That’s what the MSM wants you to believe. And you’re a dumb enough sheep to believe it.

So no, a few bad apples on both sides don’t represent the entirety on either side. Although perception of the above “knockout game”, and the example above is what help led Trump to winning the election.

The president called the gangs in South America animals and you decried him for it. While at the same time pleading for the USA to let people in seeking asylum from those “animals”. Could you at least keep your storiy straight? Are they animals or not? Do people legitimately require asylum or not? If you are going to make a point, make sure it isn’t self refuting.

Do you not understand how media corporations make their money? The sensationalized news reports do not reflect reality. Look up any statistics and you’ll clearly see a disconnect.
BTW I’m not a Trump supporter, I voted for Jill Stein as a protest lol. Also what does my ethnicity have to do with it? Why is race so important to you?
AND ANOTHER THING: I do know why I hate Obama, he sold out the American people and bailed out the banks. Also he created the current deportation machine that everyone is shitting on Trump for and yet did nothing to solve the drug war. Also Obama didn’t do jack shit for blacks. Also Obama care is a garbage bandaid solution that doesn’t address the core issues with healthcare costs.

shinji: Curious as to what reference you have for “that’s what MSM wants you to believe”, since that seems like a pointless fantasy.

mr_punk: that post is craaaazy long. Keep it to a page or two. XD

In the earlier discussion about a local Trump fan being “shunned by his friends for liking Trump”, we skipped out on the part where that Trump fan told one of his closest Chilean friends that the friend and his immigrant parents hated America since they were immigrants. ?!!?!?!?! They fucking love America, but hey racial profiling ftl.

We all have fucked up views about some shit that we need to work through. It’s just unusual that we put such a vile example of humanity in this position of power. As always, my simple hope is that people realize they need to vote if they don’t want to get fucked over.

The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (BKA The Bailout) became law on October 3 2008 signed by former President George W. Bush. President Obama was not inaugurated until January 20 2009.

Sorry, you’re right, Obama just signed on to the previous Bush administration’s plan to directly infuse up to $700 billion in taxpayer-backed loans into the U.S. banking industry. Obama also bailed out the auto industry. And he didn’t do shit about the Wall Street and white-collar criminals who illegally exploited the financial system. People who should be in jail got golden parachutes instead.

ok, I’ll bite…

WWE/WCW

WWE/Impact Wrestling

UFC/Strike Force

Microsoft/Apple (OS competitors)

List goes on…

So it’s solely Obama’s fault for the issues you brought up regarding the financial bailout? The auto industry definitely was under his watch so no argument there. If you’re gonna pass blame, may as well start from the source. I agree that many of those people should have gotten jail. Unfortunately, many have profited from the loopholes in finance law. Those people include our current Commander in Chief.

actually yes, there are many on the right wing who do want to abolish taxes altogether, or drastically cut them. getting rid of the IRS is of course the first logical step to that. now does everyone on the right want to get rid of taxes entirely? nah. but there is a non trivial number who do, i see ancaps posting up on facebook all the time. just like there are a non trivial number of leftists who want to repeal second amendment and have open borders. often you have to read between the lines.

so i respect the leftists on my facebook more who simply state how they truly feel. i respect people less who don’t openly state how they feel on an issue. be transparent

also income inequality is not going to be solved by unions. companies will simply automate. income inequality is a direct result of technology wiping out jobs. i honestly don’t know what the solution is, but i’m hoping a combination of technology making things cheaper, and government (yes government) stepping up to provide universal basic income or something along those lines is the right path forward

word, in general, i am all for abolishing government agencies, because they represent a waste of taxpayer money and often times overstep their bounds and get bloated over time. i can definitely see ice going around and doing mass deportations which i’m not ok with. but people being stopped at the borders and told: hey go home. that makes sense. illegals who commit felonies like DUIs being told to go home? also makes perfect sense. abolish ice as long as those simple policies can be enforced. as for the millions of illegals already in the country, if theyve already lived here for years, it’d be a dick move to deport. again that’s really not fair to yellows and browns from overseas.

if there were an order to abolishing government agencies i’d rank them as:

  1. DEA.
  2. TSA
  3. IRS
  4. ICE

agree to disagree on extrapolation.

i dont think seattle politics is boring to anyone outside of WA, as it is frequently brought up as an example of a progressive hellhole by the right. whereas those on the left who consider it a regressive hellhole. pretty funny if you ask me. both seattle and san fran are examples of how tech is exacerbating income inequality. no clue what the solution is, but personally i dont think an income tax is the answer

example: increases in energy efficiency has DECREASED energy consumption in seattle, yet city light in seattle wants to increase rates because they can’t cover their expenses. this is an example of technology providing beneficial deflation by lowering the cost of living for people, but then government clamoring for moar money. pretty interesting to me.

ok one last burst post:

when i first saw this headline i was ready to be outraged at disgusting nazis attacking minorities:

but then i thought hmmm cnn has a track record of fake news…

LO AND BEHOLD worldstar hip hop for true reporting

the attacker was a black woman. not sure if the other 3 who joined in were black, still searching. now google: “black people cannot be racist” written by idiot SJWs. guess CNN left out the race because it didnt fit the narrative of minorities being victims of oppression and racism, not perpetrators of it

That’s not at all what I said, I fully acknowledged the shit policy started with George W., Obama merely continued the policy, not unlike how Trump is ramping up immigration policies put in place by Clinton and expanded upon by George W and Obama.

for those outside our region: seattle times usually leans liberal in coverage, and random in editorial, with many completely inexplicable conservative editorial columns/endorsements that have no shred of logic. The editorial/endorsements were why I gave up on the Times: warping logic to reach a conclusion grossed me out.

pretty interesting to me.

Yeah, it’s good that the article clearly explained why that money was needed, and how most of it was unavoidable. The worst problem was that they had the wrong price quoted? That’s a price we had to pay regardless.
