Apparently Trump’s grandfather was thrown out of Germany for failing to do the requisite military service. Trumps have been dodging the draft for generations
A lot of the current propaganda is based upon blowing up one or two events - or even phantoms - out of reasonable proportion and then pretending that we can achieve some perfect solution… while ignoring that part of the goal is to simply fuck the people we don’t currently like.
This shit is not an actual problem. The spectre of it is used to instill paranoia and create problems, though.
Guaranteed democrat votes since they’ll need that free health care.
Its the south in the US, so racism is always at play, but there is some weird shit from this article:
Okay so how are they targeting black people?:
So what is going on in these communities that people don’t have proper identifications? Ultimately that is a pretty major issue that neither party is addressing. That bothers the fuck out of me. They need to address that issue first before they go on with this nonsense. Either party not mentioning this as an issue can go EAD.
It’s actually hysterical that ben and jerrys has an article on this but this is a very easy article to read and understand why voter ID is discriminatory
Most minorities in poor neighborhoods don’t have proper IDs because of both a lack of transportation and underfunded and/or non-existent DPS stations within reasonable distance, leaving them with the untenable situation of taking valuable time off work and money they don’t have to use lacking public transportation and wait in ridiculous lines.
But yeah, it’s totally the fault of the people that live in these locations that they don’t have ID… They gotta pull up by their bootstraps!
I’m not gonna rehash the back and forth of the previous thread but my position is: how the fuck is it that both parties identify a problem and argue over a separate issue instead of fixing the problem they found?
The problem being all these people walking around without proper IDs.
First off… just the minorities in poor neighborhoods? The white trash of the country can still manage somehow?
Fact is that it’s a money/transportation issue at only the poorest of groups, not a race issue. I’d give you that one.
Which only means that if they’re going to enact laws like this, they would also need to make easy (and cheap or free) means to obtain the IDs.
Edit: also to note, most voter ID laws request SOME form of ID. Not a specific one. Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, state ID, passport, etc. Any of these are acceptable. Most of the people in this “too poor to travel” bloc will have at least one of these things.
Right from the article. It sneakily targets minorities as they make up most of the poorer population of these targeted areas. Also a lot of these areas will close down the id places at convenient times
According to a Harvard study, “the expenses for documentation, travel, and waiting time [for obtaining voter identification cards] are significant—especially for minority group and low-income voters—typically ranging from about $75 to $175. When legal fees are added to these numbers, the costs range as high as $1,500.”[46][47] So even if the cards themselves may be free, the costs associated with obtaining the card can be expensive.[46] The author of the study notes that the costs associated with obtaining the card far exceeds the $1.50 poll tax outlawed by the 24th amendment in 1964.[47]
A simple google search shows why this isnt as conceivable in some of these states, especially for those who live paycheck to paycheck
I call to question that study, as once again, I’d be hard pressed to believe there are that many people that have absolutely ZERO forms of ID that fit the need. Those that are in that low of income are collecting welfare, they’re utilizing Medicare/Medicaid, they’re probably tapping into Social Security… these are, admittedly not in every state, but in most, acceptable forms of ID to meet the criteria.
I think there’s a disconnect here. Do you think that the voter ID laws are requiring people to have a separate ID just for voting? Can you please cite a state that actually does this specifically?
Almost all the states that have a strict voter id law are red states. Hawaii being one of the blue states with voter id
You can take that as you want but this is something that has only recently been a thing as has impacted as much as 3% of voters
Also it has to be a state issued ID which usually requires going to a dmv or something similar. Cali and NY have it easy but other states do not. Id be all for voter id laws if it wasnt such a pain for some people to get one
Very few actually require a state issued photo ID, actually. A fair number require some form of photo ID, yes, but most of them will take any form of government ID as proof (SS, Medicare, etc.).
I agree that the more rural areas of the country will have to have more effort to acquire a state issued photo ID. That’s a problem, but it sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed, not a problem that says we should do away with the ID law.
im leaving the FGC again soon enough and ill go back to just posting sporadically, i just want to keep posting all the videos I said I would once I get the final game. Moral of the story for me.
although even saying that with this forum migrating or something, is it going to a new site or URL or will it still be the same thing?
