American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

Nobody is saying illegal immigrants shouldn’t be stopped. The laws are fucked - this was already a problem, and enforcing them is a known clusterfuck. Read the article. Or look up Flores and that continuing debacle. Deciding to go whole hog on family separation was Trump’s call and that’s the delta here. There’s a reason why Obama gave up on his version of this.

Asylum has specific meanings, though. Consider Session’s recent loving interpretation.

non troll question - do you have metrics on how many illegals are actually seeking asylum? IE fleeing ms13 from shithole countries like el salvador and honduras? i’m guessing its a small % of the ones who are detained but i’m willing to accept politifact article (not huffpo or buzzfeed or vox or those sjw publications tho) if it shows otherwise

as for sessions, he is a turd and i am no fan of his. the bible is irrelevant when it comes to the government, why the fuck is he even quoting it? furthermore even as an ex christian atheist and i can easily pop off dozens of quotes that talk about loving your neighbor and why you shouldn’t tear apart families.

i dont think anyone, except perhaps the actual nazis like richard spencer and the fucktards who follow them are cheering at separation of these families. i am not a donald dump supporter. i also do not cry when nazis are punched in the face. i lol when rednecks get triggered at black people kneeling during the anthem. people can look at my old posts to see. a few nazis like slayer of bodom even called me a SJW feminist LOL!

now with those disclaimers aside, the media is being dishonest. dump started actually enforcing the immigration law, and because the law states that children can’t be detained more than 20ish days, that’s why they got split. before, the obama administration simply just let them through and looked the other way or did catch and release. so despite peoples outrage it is perfectly valid to state if these illegal immigrants simply hadn’t crossed the border, they wouldn’t have had their kids taken away. they broke the law. yes we should discuss how to change the law so more people can come into this country, but at the end of the day i do not think we should open borders. i really can’t think of any country that does. and with the way progressive liberals love on mexican illegal immigrants at the expense of the struggles of legal immigrants, and with the way they tell legal immigrants to check their azn privilege, well its pretty clear to me they want open borders with mexico and want to legalize all mexican illegals immediately, legal immigrants be damned. i would respect many of these liberals more if they just admitted that’s how they truly feel. cause that’s how it looks from my perspective.

What does that phrase mean? Asylum is a thing. Someone from outside the country is allowed to pursue it. The US tightened its metrics for asylum which affects things. I think its about 150k people seeking asylum per year from central america, and about 2k are granted asylum. You should be able to find the numbers you’re looking for if you want to spend the time.

Tariffs coming soon to wreck America soon. Terrible idea that I believe he will eventually back off like he back off the tariffs the last time. Build bridges not walls. We should be working with our trade partners not fighting them with useless tariffs. Tariffs don’t even work. The cost just goes to the consumer.

Tariffs without appropriate internal tax lowering to compensate doesn’t work. Doing so (as has been done), cause businesses to move to the most affordable location to do business (with the exception of businesses that would prefer to virtue signal instead of profit, anyway). That is the intent.

That is because Americans are fucking lazy. People just don’t give these roles and salaries to immigrants for no reason, it’s because they work hard and pay attention to actual things that matter while Americans rather go liberal and argue about every single damn thing. Just 2 weeks ago at NYC there was this group of kids protesting about the right to have pink/rainbow like purple hair. There was like 50 of these idiots. It’s all about “my rights” than doing your fuckin job and just respecting policies. Asians and most immigrants understand that responsibilities sometimes have to rule over this SJW bullshit.

Most Americans are so lazy and stupid that they can’t even drive a manual transmission. Anything that takes time to learn and skill to develop is something they stray away from so no shit immigrants are more successful. Their culture and views toward life is much better.

As for the solving of drug lords. I prefer just killing them instead of legalizing all drugs… legalizing drugs maybe good here but in countries with a high stat of poverty it isn’t. Most poor people utilize drugs to help them with shit such as hunger and over coming the depression that comes along with living in poverty hence the crime rates in those areas. So i say, just kill the drug lords and either jail/kill the corrupt politicians. This reminds me of Duterte, who -according to my filipino friends- managed to make more than 10,000 drug pushers surrender overnight… i just googled his recent news now and it looks like he is at war with the Catholic church as of late.

apparently, slightly over $3 billion dollars. additionally, the cost of holding migrant children (HHS has said it is holding nearly 12,000 migrant children) in trump’s newly created “tent cities” costs the government $775 per person, per night. the average stay for separated kids is nearly two months. trump wants to build more. it seems the business of warehousing migrant children is already a billion dollar business. also, this does not include the additional administrative costs associated with incarceration. there are low cost alternatives, but trump is on some other shit and he closed those programs down.

that’s an understatement. he signed an unnecessary executive order reversing his own policy decision which he claimed couldn’t be reversed by executive order and started a crisis which he could have stopped at any time with a phone call. lol…whos man is this?

the DOJ just asked the court to modify the Flores Settlement. judge gee, the federal judge who oversees the flores case was an obama appointee and she ruled against him. obama’s DOJ later asked Gee to modify the agreement and she declined. i don’t trump is going to persuade her.

so, i guess it’s up to congress to pass a law that overrides the flores settlement, but the house just shit the bed recently, but they’re supposed to vote again on a second bill later this week to see to if they can flush this turd down the crapper. however, i don’t think the senate wants to touch immigration this close to midterms. in any case, this is just another trump unforced error. i never get tired of seeing that.

damn. preppy put you out on front street again? don’t let it get you down, breh. you need to keep that same energy.

lol…you know some of these guys don’t bother to read, preppy. it’s not the srk way. they like hot takes and shooting from the hip. OTOH, they’ll watch a 60 min video from some ill-informed random on youtube with a quickness.

case in point.

no, but that’s a jaw-dropping hot take. first of all, immigration violations constituted 40% of all federal prosecutions in 2013. immigration prosecutions rose to 52% by 2016 before trump got into office. so, your suspicious claim of “they just let all the illegals cross” is a complete falsehood.

first of all, you are conflating policy and law. secondly, it’s apparent you have no clue about the Flores agreement. there is no federal law or court ruling that mandates the government separate migrant families as the trump administration claimed. it’s a myth that been widely debunked. the Flores settlement, the ruling in question makes no such stipulation. instead, this is a policy shift or policy choice. the politifact article made that point clear. here’s the entire quote. i bolded the part of the quote which was suspiciously missing in your original post.
“Obama generally refrained from prosecution in cases involving adults who crossed the border with their kids,” said Peter Margulies, an immigration law and national security law professor at Roger Williams University School of Law. “In contrast, the current administration has chosen to prosecute adult border-crossers, even when they have kids. That’s a choice — one fundamentally different from the choice made by both Obama and previous presidents of both parties.”
in addition, there’s another politifact article in which the same guy makes the same point again:
As the Trump administration argues, referring immigrants for prosecution is not new policy. But prior administrations did not enforce the practice the way Trump has. Before Trump came into office, families were detained together, sent back immediately or paroled into the country, said Peter Margulies, an immigration law and national security law professor at Roger Williams University School of Law. Now, prosecution is happening across the board and has become the uniform policy. “The policy has ramped up substantially with the new administration,” Margulies said. “Making that a staple of immigration policy is a new feature.”
policy choice. it is the trump administration new policy choice of “zero tolerance” that directly leads to migrant children being separated from their parents not the law. again, there is no federal law that requires migrant children who arrive at the border to be separated from their parents. so, if it’s not the law. it’s trump’s policy choice.

lastly, it was never an issue in the past because for most of it’s history the US government generally treated immigration irregularities as a civil matter not a criminal matter like the trump administration has recently done. ultimately, the difference between the previous presidents of both parties and trump is the former foresaw the unintended consequences of a “zero tolerence” approach as politically sucicidal and repugnant. conversely, it’s no surprise trump implusively makes the dummy move and grabs the gun, sticks it in his mouth and unloads the whole clip. the results speak for themselves. and, speaking of unintended consequences because of trump’s “zero tolerance” policy. DHS no longer prioritizes deporting those convicted of more dangerous crimes like past administrations.

lol…why use children when a 72 year old child will unwittingly do the job for you.

nonetheless, i did enjoy watching the administration repeatedly fail to come up with one coherent explanation for this policy choice. they changed their story no less than 14 times before they finally flip flopped on the whole issue. it was another entertaining shit show from this administration.

congress? the gop controlled house just shit the bed this week trying to pass a partisan, republican only immigration bill explicitly designed not to have democratic support. they couldn’t even find consensus among their own ranks. of course, it also doesn’t help when you have a moron who undermined his own divided party before they even voted. trump went from being “1000 percent” behind the GOP on signing an immigration bill to rage quitting in a matter of days and fucking his own party over in the process. lol…trump never fails to make me laugh.

asia has enjoyed the highest rate of granted asylum requests for years and you’re claiming they’re mad at mexicans? seems like an irrational response. they must watch a lot of fox news. also, it’s not the dems who are obsessed with a wall, attacking the immigration system and manufacturing anti-immigrant fervor except trump. it’s trump, but don’t take my word for it. take his.

this is one of the dumbest most counter-productive things government has ever done.

lol…trump is copping pleas and claiming,"“I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.”. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has a webpage and flyer on it’s website explaining the “zero tolerance policy” which came straight from the executive office. you can’t walk around the WH without tripping over a lawyer or advisor and he’s acting like he didn’t know what would happen? is it even humanly possible to be this dumb without being on a ventilator and medically brain dead?

lol…i thought trump couldn’t be any more moronic when he told his DHS Secretary she needs to shut down the border. apparently, his potential for stupidity is boundless.

at his own staff having to explain this to him and then snitching to the press about his stupidity. i can just imagine the reaction from his aides as he floated this idea.

why can’t i?! why! why! why! my very good friends Vladimir, Kim Jong-un, Duterte and Xi do it all the time. it’s so unfair they get to lock up whoever they want and i don’t. i’m trying to MAGA. fuck it, i’m going to tweet about it.

this is just another reminder that trump doesn’t know one goddamn thing about policy, diplomacy, law, legislative strategy, etc. lol…you name it. he doesn’t know it. trump stans! where you at? you’ve been cosigning this idiot’s actions all week. get in here and cosign some more of his dumb shit. i need some more laughs.

I mean how many of the illegal immigrants from mexico are actually refugees seeking asylum. The media is painting them all as refugees, when I’d wager most are just migrant workers. I’m looking for something like % illegal immigrants from mexico which are actually refugees

I dont know how you can say that they were enforcing the immigration laws before when clearly the quote we both quoted says
“The current administration has chosen to prosecute adult border-crossers even when they have kids”

In other words, bringing kids along before was previously a get out of jail card. I’m not linking any youtube videos, I’m literally quoting directly from the politifact that preppy brought up.

Flores act says child cannot be detained more than 20 days. adults previously weren’t being charged with misdemeanor (first time immigration) / felonies (repeat) for illegal immigration hence separation never happened because everything was taken care of within 20 days.

“Prior administrations did not enforce the practice the way Trump has”. aka not enforcing the law.
“Prosecution is happening across the board and has become the uniform policy”

Like this is literally being admitted in the politifact article. Yes it is a result of zero tolerance, as in now they are actually going after illegal immigration. we can argue over immigration policy but it sounds like you want open borders with mexico. fine, but admit that

from same politifact article:
“The idea of prosecuting people who cross the border illegally the first time they are caught is entirely new,” he added. “So we haven’t seen children separated from their parents on anything near this scale before.”

sounds like not enforcing the laws to me.

Should we change the immigration policy? Sure, but lets do it in a non racist way to accomodate immigrants from places other than mexico pls.

As for asia aslym, if its legitimate asylum great, otherwise they can go to the back of the line like everyone else. majority of asians who come here are not coming through asylum. and its fucking difficult, unlike mexicans who apparently could just cross with their kids and be fine because they weren’t ever prosecuted (politifacts words not mine)

Doesn’t the article say that that’s not the case? I’ve read a bunch on this so know that’s not the way it was which alludes back to this being a known clusterfuck. Trump’s people decided to ignore everything we already knew.

I mean how many of the illegal immigrants from mexico are actually refugees seeking asylum.

That question is ass-backwards.

Given the new standards on refugee status, I call humbug on the “most are just migrant workers”. What happens when you research or look up the answers to your questions?

lol…you don’t know what i want and there’s nothing to argue. it’s obvious i came into this discussion armed with the facts and you came into it with nothing, but hot takes. you are entitled to your opinions, but not the facts. well, unless you want to argue otherwise? i mean, it would be really, really funny if you do.

actually, it’s even more difficult thanks to trump. however, mexicans aren’t pursuing a governmental policy of attacking and reducing the means of immigration at every level (apparently, at every level except trump’s winery). trump’s words and policies speaks for itself, but only if one chooses to inform themselves. still, it’s just an observation, but being envious of mexicans seems counterproductive. i mean, it’s funny, but irrational nonetheless.

which reminds me. did anyone catch this interview where a trump stan gets completely exposed and put on front street? the fuckery doesn’t start until 4:28.

when breh looked at her like,“you just fucked up” and gave her that work by fact checking her and even using trump’s own statements and tweets. the trump stan digs her heels deeper into whatever alternative universe she lives in and starts incoherently copping pleas for trump.

the anchor is looking back at her like

the ending was hilarious. i was cracking up at the look on his face when he told her to “tweet it” after using footage to snatch her soul and put her in a body bag.

you know, if one is going to be a mouthpiece for trump. one would think these people would ensure they’re well informed and prepared given his talent for flip-flops and self-inflicted wounds. however, it’s obvious facts are like kryptonite to these people. anyway, i hope breh was watching his back after leaving the studio. you can never tell what some of these cult45 members might do after getting dragged like that.

You still haven’t answered the question he’s asked you twice now: Do you support an open border or don’t you? All you’re doing is posting a bunch of gifs and dodging the question.

My guess is he supports an open border where we let hard working people in with moderate levels of vetting to weed out the clear bad ones and let the actual bad people try and sneak in and we can catch them and do whatever peoples heart desires. You know what America is suppose to be…

Alexandria is what I would be as a politician and pretty much see eye to eye on all her points except medicare for all though I like the idea just differently. Dems need to just become this and be the party of decency and start playing dirty.
