Am I the only one that prefers the presentation of SF3:NG to Third Strike?

NG had fucking SICK vs screen style and music.

But that was it.

3S is better in every other aspect.

Every single Alpha game had a disgustingly bad presentation and music. Nothing is “notable” except in its shittiness.

What has changed so much in the game system between each version?

lunar sucks, fight me.

@“TheMeth90 Fuck Cammy.”

Parrying was different. In one version (or both NG and 2i?) I believe there was no Red Parry. There might not even be, parry and also still be able to chose to block, so you have to full parry everything that is a multi hit move. The direction to parry was different, making it very strange in the air. Then on a successful air parry, your character also stays in the air, in like a pinball bounce. Try to find some combo videos that showcase this kind of idea. Sonic Hurricane/ComboVid.com via Maj may have some as recent as a year or 2 years ago.

The game wasn’t as solid with controls in some other areas as well, but I’ve only played it a few times on emu years ago like Dander.

the air parry was strange because parrying down and forward were both valid in the air, but the movement of the character changed after the parry depending on what kind of parry it was.

there were also no 2 button throws or 2 button UOH’s until 3s.

strange bugs existed too. 1p builds meter faster than 2p. sean builds meter faster than other characters.

I had 2 meatball subs this weekend!

“Subway” version of things are like lower tier or whatever though, right?

Subway Tournament.
Subway Cops.

Yeah that one guy was tiny, trying to intimidate by crossing his arms. I want to know when Ralph cussed them out! Maybe after we left.

yes and sat was definitely a subway tournament!

Crazy guy, I played NG at Fiesta Freddy’s and 2I at Interface.

edit: Not Fiesta Freddies. It was Peter Piper Pizza.

lol I forgot interface had 2I. iirc only 1p worked :frowning:

the years ago part like Dander

not yeah that was going to be confusing I knew and wrote it that way anyway. Wrote this this way anyway! I’m warming up food. not a toasted sub. :frowning:

New Generation to 2nd Impact:

4 New characters added. Hugo, Urien, Yang, Akuma.
Characters got some new moves.
Some animations were changed.
Frame data changed.
Moves were re-balanced.
Meter length is changed, as well as how many supers some characters can store.
Characters got EX moves.
Parry changed. Air low parry would make you bounce upwards in NG. This was removed in 2nd Impact, but you can still use air low parry for a different effect.
You can’t low parry as many different attacks as you could in NG. For example, you could parry Hadouken with either high or low parry in NG.
New GUI.
Alex, Sean, Gill got new stages. Old NG stages were graphically altered.

2nd Impact to 3rd Strike:

5 new characters added. Chun-Li, Makoto, Q, Twelve, Remy.

Different attack version (Light, Medium, heavy) attacks can’t trade hits anymore.
Crouching hitstun animations last longer.
Throw is done by pressing LP+LK. UOH is done by pressing MP+MK.
New GUI.
All stages are new.
New soundtrack.
New endings for each character.

You sir have no taste. A1 and somewhat A2(A3 bit of a departure…the ISM’s in particular was overkill), had awesome music, artstyle, announcer VAs, character designs, presentation, gameplay, etc.

Gold. Still my favorite of the SF series.

Gaiaonline. Don’t google it. You’ll just feel bad.

I thought you meant that chick from Captain Planet.

most people say Gaia Online like Louis says GameFAQs

Bob, where the fuck were you yesterday?

what happened yesterday? I hope I didn’t miss something neat.

if I remember right I played some ranked for an hour, added RaymondSin X as a friend, then went to go learn Marvel for a bit before ultimately deciding that Third Strike is a better game than Marvel 3. I think that’s what I spent yesterday on.

Dander held out hope at the thought you could also still make the trip to FFA.

oh yeah. I wish. scheduled straight through for the last few weeks before Christmas, sucks. probably won’t make it in time for any 3s event which is lame, I wanted to experience all of the FFA stuff I hear about.

I might be able to fly to So Cal after Christmas season is over, it’ll probably be dead at work after that and I can get whatever time off that I want. is there anything cool and 3s-related happening after Christmas? I assume there’s still an arcade or two that 3s players will meet up at even after FFA closes?

its pretty likely FFA will actually still be open into January. If not, supposedly they are planning to move the Japanese 3s cabinet from FFA to Japan Arcade once FFA closes. Japan Arcade is maybe ~20 minutes away from FFA so even if FFA is shut down while you are here you are reasonably close to Japan Arcade.

Japan Arcade is also in Little Tokyo, so…Japanese food!

I had another meatball sandwich last night :x
