Everything from the music, the stages, the graphical presentation, the VS screens, the Win screens, some of the effects, and more, feel better on New Generation compared to Third Strike. One of the few advantages over New Generation that Third Strike has is obviously the bigger roster and gameplay balance (subjective, since it’s all a Yun-Chun-Ken fest anyways).
Even today, New Generation has a certain charm that Third Strike doesn’t. Third Strike looks washed out on the stages, while New Generation looks colorful and memorable. The same is true for the Second Impact stages. Overall presentation “feels” better on the first two games too, although I prefer Third Strike’s bars and fighting UI, Second Impact looking the worst of the three. At times, Third Strike feels way too separated from New Generation and Second Impact, almost like a different game. The transition from New Generation to Second Impact was a little more smooth and consistent, like a natural evolution, making both games more cohesive, kind of how Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting were to The World Warrior. Even Super SF II and Super Turbo “felt” like SF II. There’s no other way I can explain this.
Yes. More went into misc. presentation things, like the win screens and such. The music was better too.
No. The tiers aren’t that segregated, and the completely refined parry system makes an entirely different game.
no. 3S animation is smoother by far, and the bgs are fine. The jerky framed animation in NG gets old after playing 3S for so long.

SSF2 and ST felt almost nothing like the CPS1 chain nonsense that was in WW, the Dictator fest in CE, and the weird physics for things in HF, though HF was the second best SF2 game after ST IMO… CPS2 games feel very different than CPS1 games, graphically and physics in all. 3S is to SI as HF is to CE, that part is accurate.

Posting a pointless thread is pointless and it will attract sarcasm. We don’t do “comparison” threads around these parts. That’s a good lesson to learn if you plan on posting on SRK. This isn’t Gamefaqs. We aren’t kiddie gamers.
Last time I checked, this is the Fighting Game Discussion forum, and this is what this thread is about. We discuss things, and on this opportunity, it’s the overall presentation on 3 different versions of a fighting game. It’s not a pointless thread, it’s someone wanting to touch an important subject about a series of games. Your hostility and edginess towards a user who happens to have the “new member” title under his username says quite a bit.
What would be a more important subject then? How flashy Vergil’s combos are and how hype Spencer’s sunglasses look while he does a 100 hit combo? Maybe how much more shiny they can make Morrigan’s Soul Fist projectiles?
